Jannette Lee - DCC results

Sunny

My post about the personal assistant, was not meant as a slam, or a joke. I didn't know who was with her, If I had known it was Don, I would have said so. She did have a personal assistant with her at one of the brickyard tournies.

I think you guys are being way out of line and being jealous! Grow some balls and move on. Jeanette never forced anyone to give her weight or held a gun to their head to take a losing game. Every single guy or team who "suckered" up to the game obviously thought they had the better end of it or wouldn't had stepped up/ put the money up.

Believe me, I've seen it year after year at DCC or anywhere else when the "boys" thought they were stealing and still choked under pressure. So stop whining or crying like little kittens and if you think you got what it takes then go make a game with her.

And as for her personal assistance jokes - cut it out too. I know 'Willibetmore' personally and he is highly successful and established in his career. I know that I could never afford to hire him as an assistant if he was charging to hang around that long and don't you dare to accuse him for being star struck.

He is one of closest friend to Jeanette and looks after her like a family, nothing more! You guys should be shamed of being hateful about beautiful and pure friendship. I only wish I had a friend who would bare my burden and I can trust without a doubt like that once in my life.

You want to whine and be jealous because Jeanette books winners, fine. But don't hurt nice people in the mean time.

Ugh! I'm so gonna lose sleep over this thread!

Actually.....if you are playing for $500 a game, freezing up 6 games, each game is worth 1,000.

Ray
(who is on second)
Though each individual is contrubuting $500...I would say the bet (which requires 2 opposing forces) is still $500.

One time I was playing a guy and we agreed on $200/ game. I lost the first and handed a Franklin over, claiming that satisfied the debt...didn't work out for me.

This is the only point I made.

If I ever played Jeanette or was involved in anyone playing Jeanette, I wouldn't mind playing her 6 ahead - but I would limit the amount of conversations she is allowed to have with her posse during and in between games to one 5 minute conversation every 4 games. This would include phone calls with her posse as well. This would also include bathroom breaks as well. She can have a 5 minute conversation OR a 5 minute phone call OR a 5 minute bathroom break every 4 games -- her choice. Anything longer or any other interuption by her posse or towards her posse is loss of game.

Now if I castigated you (by the way I had to look up the definition of the word because I did graduate high school but then thought college wasn't for me so I didn't learn words such as this. And I don't think we have ever had harsh words between us), you will have to jog this old man's memory.

Watchez,
Actually I was not offended by your post, and I only mentioned you because I really wasn't planning on a lot of posts (thought I could get by with just one).

You actually made a couple of points; and by saying you would prohibit any interruption by her posse you seemed to me to be critical of them (chiding or castigating them in my view).

I actually am quite critical of certain of her friends/acquaintances. Several of them believe that it is quite acceptable to talk in a normal tone of voice during matches - I am NOT one of them, and try to avoid it as much as possible.

In her defense, she does have a large family, an extremely busy career, and an enormous number of people vying for her time by phone and in person (ESPECIALLY at DCC - she CANNOT just walk to the snack bar to get a coffee - it would take her an hour to get there and back - she respects her fans, and will try her best to acknowledge them and interact with them). It is doubtful that she will ever be able to play you with your conditions - her world would fall apart, and we would have to read the posts of all those who say JL is ignoring her family, fans, and business to play pool. Often the only way that she can play in a tournament or match is if she can conduct some business while she plays. She supports an enormous number of people - they depend on her.

I was not aware that you wanted to match up with her; but if you will make it worth her while to ignore her personal and business opportunities; I assume you could make it happen. Good luck, and I hope I am permitted to see it.

P.S. - You will not succeed in obtaining bathroom break stipulations. The periodic and frequent attacks of agonizing pain (that occur regularly on top of the usual severe pain) are not predictable. She plays as best she can; frequent halts in play are necessary. She will often sit and talk during those times - sorry that it bothers you so much. You have a lot of conditions to play:).

P.P.S. - I do NOT believe she does those things to shark her opponent (as most readers will believe you are implying by your post). I do believe many opponents are uncomfortable with playing her at all and will look for any excuse to rationalize their relatively poor performance (most players play WELL below their top speed against her - it is the Black Widow Effect).

P.P.P.S. - Oops, I forgot to mention that the high heels do not bother her back at all; and often give her a bit more reach - it is quite difficult for her to stretch for shots. Shots that you or I would find routine, she finds exquisitely painful or even impossible.

Ken, I don't know why you are complaining about Jeanette getting easy action. Who's fault is it? Certainly not hers. If you want to complain, complain about the players who gave her what you think was easy action. They agreed to the games.

BTW, I wouldn't call her a nit. A couple of years ago at the SBE, she was down many thousands of dollars to a guy and she kept coming back for more. She lost a bundle.

Rich,
You are spot on.

Ken's post was THE MOST RIDICULOUS AND UNINFORMED POST OF THE YEAR (errr....perhaps the last 7 years...).

I would love for Ken to submit his list of players who will only play people better than themselves. Also I'm anxious to see his list of players who will turn down an easy game. WHAT WAS HE THINKING (actually he just wanted to slam a popular player....there is NO logic in his statement)????

Pool players LOVE an easy game; who would turn it down? In addition, JL accepted one of the matches only as a favor for the Inside Pool streaming people who wanted desperately for her to play some kind of match in their room. Hopefully they didn't offend Ken enough for him to cancel his Inside Pool subscription.

There is NO PLAYER ON EARTH that plays more easy matches than Efren. Partly because he is better than everyone else, but also because people flock to play him/donate to him.

I have played Efren on several occasions and enjoyed it IMMENSELY on each occasion. It was money well spent. I suppose Ken's next post will describe what a nit Efren is. Sheesh.......

P.S. - Ken has NO IDEA who JL plays or doesn't play. I suppose he thinks himself expert in some way (perhaps he fantasizes that AZB reports on all of her matches:)). Ridiculous. Please view 1on1pooltourny's post for a more informed opinion.

P.P.S. - For all of you REAL nits out there, let me say that I have ENORMOUS admiration and respect for the guy that played JL Tuesday night. He showed heart and gumption. He did NOT fold up when she fired at him. He performed really well under tough pressure. He was a gentleman and good sportsman. He tested himself against a better player and learned from it. He was happy he did it. I respect him WAY more than a critical and anonymous internet critic. He was a good guy and a good player. When Ken steps up and plays (though we will suppose that HE will require a handicap unlike the Tuesday opponent who did not want one), we will see how he performs under the spotlight.

P.P.P.S. - I did NOT accept a handicap in my contests with Efren. If you want to know how you play, test yourself. I know that Ken will find it ridiculous...he would be way too smart to do such a thing.

S.G.

SG,
Please do not lose any sleep over this thread. It is the same as every other thread regarding JL. They tend to ALL be the same:

Innocent mention of JL > immediate attack by uninformed poster > wild and rampant speculation > defense by people who do and do not know her or the situation > massive confusion > attempt by someone to mention the actual facts > accusations of "nut hugging" (no matter the gender of the popular player...pool players are not particularly knowledgeable on advanced anatomy concepts).

The end result is ALWAYS that people will continue to believe what makes them feel secure about themselves - it is grand for some people to be able to criticize prominent players - it is their only chance in life to feel superior. A wonderful person like you should not let these small minded people ruin her beauty sleep (though you looked GREAT at DCC...you don't need much more beauty sleep).

P.S. - JL does have a personal assistant (not at DCC). She has played in local tournaments AS A FAVOR TO THE ORGANIZERS - they knew she had business but wanted her to play anyway and just have her conduct her phone meetings from the venue. The organizers were very happy she agreed to play and support their venture.

P.P.S. - She does find the interruptions and constant chaos very distracting. She wishes she could just simply play pool and ignore the outside world; but has SO many obligations and demands on her time that it will never happen. It is the cost of fame. I feel sorry for her because she loves pool more than anyone I know, and her physical limitations and financial obligations make it impossible for her to enjoy it as she should.

Respect, admiration, hate, ignorance, pessimism, sharking, gambling, dumping, name calling and insults. I love this thread. It's like the pool room.

I want to jump in and get flamed so I'll contribute:
1. I don't mind sharking.
2. Jeanette's crew uses shark tactics - period.
3. Jeanette has the biggest fan base in pool - fact.
4. Don is a nice guy and doing Jeanette a favor. Don should understand if the looks of this get him a little ribbing.
5. Don is taking offense because he holds Jeanette in such high esteems. Nothing wrong with that.
6. Like a**holes (both literally and figuratively) everyone has an opinion and many of them stink.
7. If any one of us could get the soft games that Jeanette gets, we would take them.
8. Strong Arm is the slowest gambling player ever and all bets with him should come with money odds as the $/hour would be 1/3 what they are if played with anyone else. - Not relevant to the thread but man is it true:thumbup:.

IBA,
Now that was funny...and accurate. I will say that other than John I do NOT believe there are any of her usual acquaintances that believe sharking is appropriate or acceptable - at least I have not seen it (I am NOT present at all matches). I apologize if I've done anything to offend any of her opponents.

Usually her just showing up sharks her opponents considerably....she is quite a distraction just sitting there saying nothing.

Rich, don't let facts ruin someone's hating fantasies.

I guess Ken didn't watch Jeanette lose on TAR against Richie Richeson, which satisfies all of his negative posts on her.

Freddie <~~~ perplexed

Honestly, I didnt see it, Freddy. But I think I would like to see it, thanks for the heads up.

I guess I still have the one about her quitting after not getting to buy half of herself in the calcutta after she went pretty far into the tournament. ;)

Just wanted to clarify. That's what I get for guessing. This is the first time I haven't seen Don at the Derby, since I met him several years ago. And you're right, he's an extremely nice guy..... His pool game has come up a little too. Don't tell him I said that.

Hahaha, your secret's safe with me, I won't say a peep to Don ;)

I didn't say a word about some fan or kid coming up to her. That would probably have a negative affect on her game.

Please uwate tell me you have more comprehension than the people in this thread that don't understand what 6 ahead for $5,000 mean.

Watchez I think the whole discussion on the $ is pretty funny, esp the part where it being so little. 99% of the people on this board would be crapping their pants to play for alot less than that. As described by you and others, her posse is a total shark move I agree. That said, I see playing JL like playing Earl. If you get into the box, well u sorta have no one to blame but yourself when the sharking starts, its not like it came out of the blue.

They played a couple times at the DCC two years ago. The last day, she and Richie were on TAR. Jeanette played a lot of players that year. She normally does play a lot, but in past years, she stayed off the camers.

I guess I still have the one about her quitting after not getting to buy half of herself in the calcutta after she went pretty far into the tournament. ;)

I don't know this story, but that doesn't really make any sense to me.

The Jeanette Lee Calcutta Scandal

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My friend, Tompnation, who signed up on this site but couldnt post yet because his account is in moderation queue (awaiting activation), he posted on another site and asked me to post this until he could log on here at AZ and post himself, here is his account, word for word and the link to his post. He has the same account name here an AZ as he does on billiards forum, Tompnation.

http://www.billiardsforum.info/forum...?TOPIC_ID=1130

First off, I wanna start by saying that I created this account for the sole purpose of telling this story and that everything u read below is factual. I don't know anything about this site, but if someone thinks this should be posted in a different category, please let me know. I

P.S. I apologize for the length of this in advance, but I know people want all the facts. It is hard to believe and definitely worth the read.

On February 21st I went to an A-B-C tournament at John Wayne's Pub in Greenwood, Indiana. I go up there with a couple buddies and we immediately grab an open table, (with chairs, not a pool table.) which we sit at for the next four or five hours After a while Jeanette Lee walks in, which is no biggie considering she lives in Indianapolis and one can see her at any bigger pool tournaments in the area on any given weekend. I myself have seen her numerous times at different pool halls and the DBCC. The calcutta starts at around one o'clock, and goes through 45 C players. The 14 A-B players are next and begin with a wild bid, which was not Jeanette. Her name gets called next and me and my friend buy her for $140. For 35 dollars apiece we think we got a steal, (Or so we thought) knowing that the tourney is gonna pay at least a thousand to win.

Anybody who knows anything about tournament pool knows that if a player does not buy themselves in the calcutta then THEY must find the person who bought them and BUY half themselves from the buyer. Knowing that she always has people hounding her for pictures and autographs, I go find her. I introduce myself, as she sits at a table trying to download a popular poker website, and tell her its 70 bucks for half of herself. She responds verbatim "Let me see how big the pot is...I will let you know." We bs'd for about 5 more minutes and i went back to my seat. The tournament begins and everybody starts playing , and woofing, and carrying on as players usually do. I don't give much more thought about it.

About eight o'clock, i hear my name being called over the PA by one of the tournament directors. I know exactly whats about to happen as soon as I hear him ask me to come up there. He tells me that Jeanette has been looking for me, and wants to buy half of herself. I don't say yes or no, I just go back to my seat .

About ten o'clock Jeanette begins playing one of the guys I rode up there with in the finals of the winners bracket of the A-B side. During the first game of the match, she walks away after a miss and walks up to the tourney directors and asks them to get me up there. She says, "hey, I've been looking for you...I want to buy half of myself." I tell her that was 8 hrs ago and it was too late. She responds by turning around and breaking down her pool cue.

Ok, here's my take on the subject. My account of what went down. I rode up to John Wayne's with a couple friends and their girlfriends. I did not drive, so therefore I never left. We arrive around 11:30 or so and sat at a table in the middle section of of the tournament area. Jeanette arrived later but was definitely in time for the calcutta. I bought Jeanette for 140 dollars and went to her to offer her half. She said she wanted to look at the pot first and she would let me know. We talked for roughly five minutes after that, which would have been sufficient time to just give me seventy dollars. There were 59 players, how could she not win enough to cover her expenses?

My friends and I play in the tournament, but always return back to that table which their girlfriends are sitting at, as well as our coats and belongings. That being said, I could have easily been found. She also got on the microphone on two different occasions to speak, so I figured she could have easily called "the gentleman who bought me" to come speak with her. As I've said, everyone knows that if someone buys you in the calcutta, you are supposed to buy half of yourself before you hit even one ball. Every pool player in every tournament would love to get a free ride in the calcutta and then claim half the dough in the end.

Look, she had a great chance of winning the tournament, but just because someone is supposed to win or get second, DOES NOT mean that they do not "really" have to buy half of themselves. It is not just "understood" that they want half of themselves because they are going to win the tournament. That is why I wouldn't give her half of herself. I've never seen anything like that by any caliber of player, and sure didn't expect her to react the way she did. She forfeited the entire tourney from there, and cost me and my buddy to lose 35 dollars apiece.

This is what really happened so everyone can think what you will but this is the way I saw it. There are at least three sides to every story, so i would love to hear what Jeanette or anyone else who was there have to say.

Don't you hate when a thread you start takes on an ugly life of it's own? (especially one where you spell someones name wrong in the subject line)

This was not supposed to be a bash Jeannette Lee thread. I've always been under the impression that she's gracious and holds herself as a professional at all times.
