Design Your Dream - My Dream Is Now A Reality . . .

The "Design Your Dream" cue contest by Bill Stroud, as many of you are aware, was held in 2010 and, hopefully, the winner (az member mhaimi) will receive his dream cue sometime soon.

The design I submitted for that contest I called "Domino Effect" which can be seen in the following link starting approximately half way down the page. The description, drawings and finally the mock-up wrapped around another cue are all there over three or four posts.

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=203624&highlight=design+dream&page=16

In summary, the cue was to have Bill Stroud's likeness sitting on his springy JW logo starting a dominos trick that included a rolling light bulb, a pop gun that deploys a flag saying "I Love Pool", a mouse that rolls over to 'the cheese' ramp rolling a cue ball down colliding with the 9 ball that gets potted into the corner pocket.

My design made it to the final cut in the contest but didn't win.

I worked my behind off on this and so I haven't given up hope for having a cue made with a domino theme at some point. However, I recently acquired one of the absolutely incredible cases made by Phil Eastwood, it being his "This Is Sparta" case based on the movie "300". To say Phil Eastwood is a skilled leather carver is a little like saying Pavarotti can carry a tune. ;)

So I got in touch with Phil to see about my domino design being done on a case and what you see below is the end result. In a word, Phil Eastwood is a genius!

I couldn't be happier with the case. Phil, you are the man!

Best,
Brian kc

Great, great case!!!

I cannot get over the amount of detail that Phil puts into each case. But the amazing part is not just the detail, it is both the prior design work and the execution of the design.

This is clearly one of the best cases ever made.

Congratulations to both of you.

holy sh*t...that's not a case....that's art.

Fantastic stuff, thanks for posting it!

Ballpark on what you paid, or would asking that be bad form? :D

That is a super nice case. Hopefully one day you will get that matching cue to go in it.

I'm glad you all agree that Phil outdid himself, once again.

A quite a few guys have pm'd me asking what I paid for this case. I think the best answer I can give is, it wasn't cheap but, then again, when you consider the extreme high quality of materials and execution; that coupled with Phil's artistic interpretation and expression, perhaps it was way too cheap.

I would strongly urge anyone who is seriously considering such an artistic case to contact Phil directly at Quiverz and discuss your design ideas with him. He is very pleasant to work with and quite accommodating. In fact, I have ordered a third case. Wait until you see this one.

Thanks very much guys for the nice compliments.

Great case, but come on with the Bill Stroud thing. Again great case, and again "come on!"

You can buy out now for $140.

You kidding?

I'll let you off the hook for $100. Offer expires in 24 hours.

And this may very possibly, perhaps, be one of my final offers. :p

Lovely case Brian. You have the best toys. Looking forward to the next time we can play some One Pocket.

Wow Kickin Chicken, how out of line are you right now? This thread title is soooo obviously a ploy to get under Bill's skin. In turn it impacts the bet you have with IBA. You are moving on my good buddy and influencing the outcome as best you can. How many posts or threads are you going to make that clearly are saying Bill finish the cue.

Absolutely not cool in any way shape form or fashion. I'd be absolutely pissed if I was IBA. I'd be wondering if you are also sending PM's to inspire the lazy cuemaker. Stick to the bet and if Bill makes the cue you get paid, if you don't win you just payoff and move on. Whatever you do though it's very unsporting to keep poking Bill and trying to influence the outcome. It just looks desperate.

I won't respond to you when you post cause this thread don't need to be bumped by anyone. Your case is amazing but why not start a thread about the case and not try to play a 2 way shot. It's foul what youre doing.

Good morning, Mikey;

First thing, iba and I have a *fun* sweat bet going on whether Bill Stroud will get the dyd cue done by x date - it is for a small amount.

You don't know who I am other than from our infrequent interactions here on az. But, if you were to check with anyone who actually knows me, I think they would be quick to tell you that I'll be okay with or without that money. ;) And my sense is that iba will be okay, too.

Because I'm such a stickler for details, I also want you to know a couple more things. Your friend, iba, whom I also have come to like very much btw, was the first one to fire off one of these type posts in a previous Stroud thread just after we made our bet. He was complimenting Bill on his generosity, his legacy, and that he should take his time with this cue. If you go back and have a look you will see that I called iba out on that one.

What you are mistaking for being "uncool" and "out of line" is actually iba and me having a little fun with each other. I don't think our posts will have much, if any, influence on Bill as we have established long ago that he seems to do whatever he wants whenever he wants regardless of anything. But it would be nice if we could inspire Bill to finish so the fellow who won could get his prize. And I wouldn't care if it happens on the day before or the day after our bet.

Also, if you looked back you would see that I have been calling Bill out on finishing the dyd cue in a few threads previous to mine and iba's wager. And as for me pm'ing Bill about this, not once.

I didn't owe you a response but since you decided to call me out in public, now you know, as Paul Harvey used to say, the rest of the story.

With all due respect, I'm a big boy and have a pretty good idea on how to handle my business - even absent your guidance.

Thanks for the compliment on my case, though.

Best,
Brian kc
