What is a Hi end cue

A Hi end cue is above a Medium end cue, but no quite a High end cue, so you drop the last 2 letters.

Just kidding. I think around $2K.

I would have to say a high end cue would be anything made by what most would agree a high end cuemaker. I would consider a Gilbert jump/break at $450 to be a high end cue.

Anything over $500 is surely spent on artistry, not playability. So what is high end depends upon individual perspective... what rung of the economic ladder a person might be on.

I don't think jump cues count, those are actually used. High end cues are cues only to be looked at. Like fancy flower shaped soap mom had.

Anything that says 1 of 1 on them. Like my two Dale Perry's.
Thats high end, yes? No one else in the world has them ceptin me.

At what amount does a cue become a hi end cue?
MMike

I think that depends upon who is buying the cue, if you have deep pockets high end may be $2000 plus, if you an average working American high end may be $500 plus.

I don't know of any other way to look at this topic!!

Price has nothing to do with a high end cue. Quality of work and material would dictate
whether it is a high end cue. I see some high dollar cues, but not all are really a high end cue.

Some are just over priced to make it look like a high end cue.

What he said. Money doesn't make a high end cue. The material's quality and hours of design does. JMHO. Chris

I love threads like these...

You will get an infinite amount of answers because everyone has their own definition.

It reminds me of what is the best cue thread or best tip or best chalk. There is never an answer...

My definition of a high end cue is when you constantly get PM's for people to buy the cue - then it's high end. LOL.

There are people on this forum that do not think twice at spend $20-30-40,000 on a cue. Like the guy in this thread - anything over $500 is artistry. Personally, I think that is a BS price point because it is one man's opinion.

And maybe a close approximation of quality is whether the cue holds its value over time or is "collectable". If I buy an expensive cue and am pretty sure I can turn around and sell it for the same amount, then it must be recognized by the pool community as of high quality (if not high end).

A Southwest is pretty much going to hold its value. The $1000 Predator I bought not so much. I wouldn't call my 5K7 a "high end" cue, even though it cost a bit.

Hi,

I believe a so called high end cue starts somewhere about $ 2000.00.

Cues that are over $ 5000.00 are generally very intricate work or are vintage sought after cues.

Cues that are five figure values are generally considered as Art Cues or vintage cues of rare value.

The true value of a cue is based on the production time spent and the value or the CM's reputation and what his cue can demand in the secondary or used cue market.

Of corse this JMO.

Anything thats ''Predator" is high end if were talking playability.
Anything else is the materials being used like ivory, fancy leathers
for wraps and exotic woods that can be pricey. Most great cuemakers
I would guess build there butts as far as stability very similar.I
think alot has to do tapers, balance points, natural weight, shaft
wood and finishes.
The problem is almost all cues on AZ are bought on looks and the rep
of the cuemaker. If the buyer could hit some balls before the purchase,
there wouldn't be nowhere near the amount of cues up for sale.
I know in most descriptions of a cue, people say ''the cue hits great''
which is common sense to me,cause if you said''the cue hits like shit"
I really doubt you'll have many people breaking your door down to
buy it.
At the end of the day,its a gamble whether you'll like the cue or not
which makes it fun for the guys who like trying out different cues but
a pain in ass for the guys searching for 1 cue and 1 cue only.

I would say anything over $2000 would be high end. But my league mates here would say anything over $500 is high end. It's all in the perspective. All of them shoot with either Predator or Poison and watching them is like watching the guys at Venice Beach lift weights. They are constantly looking at each others cues and talking about how awesome they are and how scientific it is. They won't even touch my cues because they know I'll shoot them.

Like I said, the are a million definitions. Realistically, who gives a rats a$$ what somebody else says? If YOU think it's high end - then its high end.

Beautiful cue btw...

I play with a conversion cue and love it!
