Today I looked at the live stream for the Southern Classic Insidepool stream has 7.3 million total views so far..........I bet the sponcers are very happy..... Great job JR Calvert and Avlin Nelson.....

That can't be right. Even if it's not viewers but "views", that is a very large number for pool. I don't think even ESPN gets that many people watching their pool programming, and that has girls in it most of the time.

When I was watching the SVB vs Earl match there were a bit over 1,000 viewers.

While it would be wonderful, it's impossible. Either you're looking at the wrong numbers, or there's a glitch in the system. If you added ALL the views/viewers from all the ESPN broadcasts (for the past 5 years), and all the TAR matches so far, and all the Accu-Stats matches...it still wouldn't add up to 7 million.

Last night there was a total of 30,000ish total views. I don't think that viewership would have increased 2,000 fold in twelve hours.

Maybe that is "viewer minutes"? Total number of minutes spent on the site by every user? Would be good if someone posted a link to where they got that number, hint hint John

If it helps.

This is what I saw.

I have logged out and back in at least 50 times in the last few days, if everyone else did that too, it wouldn't take long

I have always taken ustreams numbers with a grain of salt. As far as I know we were the first ones to use Ustream to stream pool in July 2007. Over the years I have talked to the company several times about getting concrete numbers I could present to sponsors. I could never get a straight answer.

I have seen all kinds of weird stuff...you go from an audience of 500 to an audience of 8000. For ten minutes. There are all kinds of theories and explanations. The one number I give some weight too is the number in the audience. Total views doesnt mean anything to me. If there are 1000 people in the audience for the whole match you have a good response. 500 is decent and anything below that is disappointing for me.

I have no doubt someone will be out there telling potential sponsors that their pool stream had more viewers than American Idol though.

I was watching the total number of viewers last night and it was over 1000 for almost the entire Shane vs Earl match and over 1100 a majority of the time. I'm not surprised either. It was pretty damn entertaining.

it was me

18,342 of the views were me.... kept getting knocked off, froze, whatever....
seriously, that number has to be wrong, but at the end of it who cares, it's great stream and as long as it's streaming Im watching..

Bump that one... Add the same number for me

While I have a much lesser degree of frustration on a free stream (can't ***** when it is being brought to me for free) it really chafs my ass on PPV.

Hill hill, critical shot and bingo, frozen. Go back and log in again and miss what happened. Wow, maddening

Going to add some constructive criticism. Let us assume that the 7.3 million number is correct and it represents 7.3 million individuals who clicked on the link and loaded the video to watch some pool?

What did they find? They found a nice looking set up with multiple cameras, excellent resolution and maybe some good pool.

What did they not find? They didn't find any ongoing information about the event, nothing about the rules, nothing about how to play more pool, nothing about the players, nothing about pool in general unless they happened to get lucky enough to tune in when JR Calvert was in the booth and speaking. Otherwise what they got was mostly silly commentary that bordered on ridiculous or dead air. Other than the few times where a good match up took place they did not find professional class pool being played.

So it might be safe to say that if 7.3 million people clicked on the stream then 7,299,000 of them left within the first few minutes because there was nothing there to engage the attention of anyone but the most die-hard pool fan. I mean this sincerely and unfortunately. I listened to many hours of one announcer talking about how he has logged so many hours and how proud he is of the stream and how they are taking it to the next level and on and on and on. But in fact this type of commentary is not professional, it's not at all engaging. Not compelling in the least.

All in all for the die hard pool fan like myself it was very nice in spots. But were I a casual visitor then I would have left after less than a minute as I suspect that most did. My point is that to truly reach that next level that the announcer Alvin was bragging about it has to start with how the presentation is done and how the viewers are interacted with. It is my opinion that Inside Pool should try very hard to come up with a code of conduct that exhibits professionalism and showmanship for these broadcasts.

With all that in mind I do want to say a heartfelt thank you for providing the stream. As a fan I was glad to be able to come in and see some great pool. I now know more about Kamui than I ever wanted to, not as much about Pay or Play as I wanted to...and wish to never see the Exact Shot commercial again. But I now have that shaft firmly in my mind as something I want to try so in that sense the advertising worked. Thank you sponsors, thank you crew.

Roadie, I think u said it very well. I know some of the advertising and commercials take money to create, but having someone just hit balls on the live stream table for hours isn't very classy. I think TAR and Big Truck are doing a great job in this regard and wish inside pool would do the same.

Thanks for the free stream, but with a little added something I would be willing to pay TAR prices for this stream. I just don't feel like they are doing a very good job "Selling" Pool.

Well put.

Funny how the count went to 7.3 million quickly and never anymore after that:scratchhead:

How is a sponsor supposed to know the scope of viewers being reached when the numbers are so falsely stated.

there was a football league that papered the house and claimed sold out events the USFL and now the indoor football teams!

I think M is for thousand and MM is a million.

Maybe, except usually if it's in the thousands it won't be abbreviated, and it hasn't changed in 2 or 3 days. If it was 7,300 3 days ago surely it would be 7,400 by now. Must be some kind of a glitch, but certainly 7.3 million total views is incorrect.
