Today I looked at the live stream for the Southern Classic Insidepool stream has 7.3 million total views so far..........I bet the sponcers are very happy..... Great job JR Calvert and Avlin Nelson.....
Bump that one... Add the same number for me18,342 of the views were me.... kept getting knocked off, froze, whatever....
seriously, that number has to be wrong, but at the end of it who cares, it's great stream and as long as it's streaming Im watching..
Going to add some constructive criticism. Let us assume that the 7.3 million number is correct and it represents 7.3 million individuals who clicked on the link and loaded the video to watch some pool?
What did they find? They found a nice looking set up with multiple cameras, excellent resolution and maybe some good pool.
What did they not find? They didn't find any ongoing information about the event, nothing about the rules, nothing about how to play more pool, nothing about the players, nothing about pool in general unless they happened to get lucky enough to tune in when JR Calvert was in the booth and speaking. Otherwise what they got was mostly silly commentary that bordered on ridiculous or dead air. Other than the few times where a good match up took place they did not find professional class pool being played.
So it might be safe to say that if 7.3 million people clicked on the stream then 7,299,000 of them left within the first few minutes because there was nothing there to engage the attention of anyone but the most die-hard pool fan. I mean this sincerely and unfortunately. I listened to many hours of one announcer talking about how he has logged so many hours and how proud he is of the stream and how they are taking it to the next level and on and on and on. But in fact this type of commentary is not professional, it's not at all engaging. Not compelling in the least.
All in all for the die hard pool fan like myself it was very nice in spots. But were I a casual visitor then I would have left after less than a minute as I suspect that most did. My point is that to truly reach that next level that the announcer Alvin was bragging about it has to start with how the presentation is done and how the viewers are interacted with. It is my opinion that Inside Pool should try very hard to come up with a code of conduct that exhibits professionalism and showmanship for these broadcasts.
With all that in mind I do want to say a heartfelt thank you for providing the stream. As a fan I was glad to be able to come in and see some great pool. I now know more about Kamui than I ever wanted to, not as much about Pay or Play as I wanted to...and wish to never see the Exact Shot commercial again. But I now have that shaft firmly in my mind as something I want to try so in that sense the advertising worked. Thank you sponsors, thank you crew.
