AMW was in town (Gulfport, Miss.) a few days ago taping a segment re Mike Surber's murder. It's reportedly supposed to air anywhere from mid to late August. AMW is now with Lifetime network. Their time slot is 9 P.M. on Fridays.

They taped interviews with the four of us who had contact with the presumed perpetrator during the time Mike and he met. I'm sure they filmed other footage as well. For some reason they wanted me to be shooting pool while describing the events that led up to Mike leaving the poolroom with the suspect. This was pretty awkward to do, but hopefully they'll get something out of it. I don't know if they'll produce a full segment, or just a blurb.

We're all desperately hoping that the AMW segment will not only bring renewed interest in this terrible crime, but that a wider audience might bring in some new leads. It's now been over 32 months since Mike was murdered: November 10, 2009.

If y'all would like to refresh your memories, JAM has constructed a very nice website on the subject: www.mikesurber.com The guy is approx. 5' 7", 180 lbs. I'll let you know if I find out when the show is to be aired.

AMW should know there is a good possibility that this guy is in jail.
He could also be a serial killer, it wouldn't surprise me.
I just hope that AMW gives it their best shot.
 
Kudos to you, JAM, and everyone else who worked long and hard to get this done. :ok:

Now, let's hope that the POS gets caught and pays for what he did.

If I thought the law was lookin' for ME as a 180 lb. man, I think I'd try to drop 25-30 lbs. Just sayin'......

It's possible that after this much time has passed, he may look totally different, especially if he knows they're lookin' for him, which I'm sure he probably does.

He'll get caught someday. I hope soon.

Thanks Doc. It was good seeing you at the Southern Classic last week.

I hope when an exact date is known, one week prior to that date, the entire forum, lurkers and posters alike, will post the information on their Facebook accounts and send emails to their friends who might not be pool players. It is apparent to me that this guy is not a "pool guy" so a person in our microcosm will not likely be the one who will recognize this person of interest.

America's Most Wanted posts on Facebook regularly and for the last few months, each time I saw their post about some travesty, I added a comment about how I hoped that AMW would see justice for Mike Surber and put in Jennie's web stie that she created for Mike Surber.

I appreciate your interest in helping America's Most Wanted to find Mike's killer and know that Mike's family, friends and associates appreciate it as well. Jennie helped chronicle this terrible crime and special kudos go to her for taking time away from her life to create the website www.mikesurber.com

I will be glued to my television that day and hope everyone will subscribe to this thread so that they can be reminded of the exact date that the episode will air. (Just click on "Thread Tools" and subscribe to the thread if you don't want to post in it.) That way you will be automatically notified when someone posts the exact date of airing.

It appears that America's Most Wanted television program is on Cox Communications cable in my area on Channel 1034 in HD. It is as Doc mentioned, HD-LIFE.

AMW starts at 7:00 PM this FRIDAY (CST)and runs all the way through 2:00 AM Saturday morning. I assume this is various recorded episodes. I've already programmed my cable network to turn my television to that channel on Fridays. I want to get used to watching AMW and want to show my appreciation to them for taking an interest in Mike Surber's case.

Hope everyone who reads this thread will do the same.
 
This is the best news I've heard in a long time! The only thing better is when I hear they caught the guy.
 
Thanks doc for the update...It's been a long time coming...Hopefully this is the missing piece to the puzzle n that scumbag gets caught n justice can finally be served !
 
Great news even if it is years later. Hopefully this SOB hasn't hurt anyone else in the time he has been free. Let's hope justice is served, and some individual has info on this scumbag.
 
Doc, you're a good man to keep this close to your heart for so long with no
visible outcome and reward so far.

Lets pray that with the airing of this segment, the perp will be recognized and the due process can begin.

This is great news and I have a feeling that this is the beginning of the end.
 
I am so glad AMW got involved. They have a good track record and taking Mike's story nationwide is what needs to happen to catch this guy. I sure do hope the coverage gets this guy off the streets before he can do it to someone else. Thanks for the news Doc.
 
I talked to Mikes brother Steve today...tuesday august 7th. He said the piece on Mike will air on august 17th..friday...at 9:00pm est on lifetime. Check your cable, dish, direct tv, etc for channel number, Lets get the word out to everyone we know to watch. Lets catch this guy!
We all know that telling one pool player about this show will grow to thousands. The pool grapevine is very fast...so tell everyone....lets get a huge audience for this show!
If its possible to put it on youtube, lets do that!

I didn't realize the date for airing would come so soon.
Thanks for the heads-up. I will program my television to jump to the appropriate channel and will post the information on Facebook today.
 
Purchased a PERMANENT membership for the site to keep Obituary and Guest Book online

Folks:

I noticed the Obituary and Guest Book section of the http://mikesurber.com/ website had expired, so as my small effort to the cause, I went ahead and purchased the mikesurber.com website a PERMANENT membership to keep that part of it online and available to everyone.

I know, it's not much, but I hope in some small way I've helped! :o

I'll definitely tune-in to the broadcast of the AMW segment!
