Cues Worth More Than Your Car

Last time i counted up how many cars i have owned, it was over thirty.

I couldn't count how many cues I have owned, but probably over 200. I still have over 50 now.

That being said, I am done with cars and cues except for one.

Both are bad investments!!!

Hey Dave I have a crappy 92 toyota truck with 250,000 miles on it. Can we have a convoy some time? Bring one of those SW up here and off you go in your convertible. Did I mention it may not make it to Medford? If it does it won't be on one tank of gas. But it sure is pretty!

JC

It doesn't have to run, just as long as it looks cool parked in front of the pool hall.

Let's see some pics of the cues worth more than your car. Put up some of the car too. I hope this gets very interesting.

Mr. Stroud's cues

I was hanging around Billy Stroud a lot in the 60s. Freakin' unbelievable player, especially against us lambs. His Corvette got stolen and dumped in the Trinity river in Dallas. He was much more concerned with his cue being in the trunk. I think I remember the incident correctly.
Keep it nice. Alfie

Funny

Lol...my golf cart was worth more than my car up until I just bought my new(er) car. Think one of my cues was too,

Here is the car I sold to buy some of the stuff that made Allen's cues that started this thread.

Larry

Larry, now I know for sure that you have a true passion and love for building cues. Selling a car like that shows this. I don't know for sure that I could've let that car go if it was mine. Although I'm glad you did and I'm sure all of the other customers you've had are happy as well.

That was an interesting read. I never knew that car was that rare.

Not possible in Singapore...

The case of "Cues Worth More Than Your Car" would be near impossible in Singapore. Car prices new or used are atrociously expensive in Singapore.

Here are some examples.

Brand New Honda Civic 1.6 Liter Engine : US $109,000
Brand New Honda Civic 1.8 Liter Engine : US $133,000
Brand New Honda Accord 2.4 Liter Engine : US $145,000
Brand New Ford Mondeo 2.0 Liter Engine : US $145,000
Brand New BMW 320i : US $176,000
Brand New Mercedes S500 (think it's called S550 in the states) : US $407,000

Used 1992 Toyota Corona 1.6 Liter Engine (COE till 2019) : US $17,000
Used 1995 Honda Civic 1.5 Liter Engine (COE till 2015) : US $15,000
Used 1993 Honda Civic 1.6 Liter Engine (COE till 2019) : US $17,000

All cars in Singapore needs to have a COE otherwise known as the Certificate of entitlement. It is an amount that you pay the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for registering your car in Singapore for local use and has a duration of 10 years, after which it requires a renewal.

The COE system is essentially a vehicle quota system by the Singapore government to regulate the number of vehicles on the roads. Under this system, the LTA determines the number of new vehicles allowed for registration while the market determines the price of owning a vehicle.

So you notice that under the Used car examples i've included the COE expiration date.

The current going rates of COE in Singapore are:

$56,000 for cars with engine capacity under 1.6 litre and below
$65,000 for cars with engine capacity over 1.6 litre

These prices fluctuates in accordance to demand for new COEs for the month.

Just thought i'd share these info  by the way i hear Denmark's equally expensive, was there a couple of times and i hear clients complaining about the prices too.

I go to the pool hall with a set of pool cues 5 times as expensive as my vehicle :D

You know your a pool nut if your cues are worth more than your ride...unless your a collecter or highend cue flpipper. Johnnyt

I'd say my cars are worth substantially more than my cues. The cars (classics) have increased in value over the past 5-10 years while the cues have decreased.

Glad you kept the GT350. :)

Rexus..nice cues, nice rides. My first new car was a '65 Goat. Still have warm & fuzzy memories of that car..

(edit)..Ah hell, I can't resist...Is it true your black Charger cries when a Bullitt Mustang starts? ;)

It probably would if it were black
