How many pool player has won 797,075$ in the last two years?

Much better money than at pool, but still not great. I presume those are gross figures before tax?
Lower ranked positions get less than regular 9 to 5 jobs. I wonder how those players can even afford to attend more than a few tournaments.

Ask a question about Pool and answer with Snooker? I bet you had a hard time in school.

Football players make a lot of money I hear..... :)

.

Maybe that't why they invented the word rhetorical.

Not that good?

$800 grand aint that good????? I have to disagree! It might not stack up to the other major sports, but thats far from working mans money.

Yes the payout for the field needs to come way up, but $800k aint bad. Now if we could just get 9 Ball ad 10 Ball players paid!

At one time, this would have been just the tip of the iceburg.

Davis and Hendry typically made about 10 times as much from
appearances and endorsements as from prize winnings.

Don't know if this is still the case, Snooker is not nearly as "hot"
as it once was either.

I remember seeing on one of this year's rich lists that Hendry is currently worth £12m. I don't know how accurate these things are, though.

I do not know, but John Higgins has done it by playing snooker.

How about ten hours a day of live TV tournament coverage, you can't walk into a business without it being on TV. How about billboards with snooker stars advertising products all over the country. You are confusing the fact they both play on tables and use balls and sticks as meaning they are somehow the same, they are not.

For one, Snooker is culturally loved with a long history everybody embraces as their own. Pool is a meaningless sport with no real connective history that almost no American embraces or even cares about in the remotest way.

Although similar activities, they are so far from each other as to compare pro football that, Americans love in mass, to horse shoes.
Pool is what it is and even in the the U.S. that it is most closely associated with, is an orphan looking for love that is just not there.

Pecca...Actually Jeanette Lee has made considerably more than that! She is, without question, the highest paid poolplayer anywhere...and she is an AMERICAN! Go Black Widow!

Are you saying she made more than $800,000 the last 2 years in pool

He probably meant in endorsement deals and such.

In straight tournament winnings, obviously that's not happening for any pool player. But jeanette lee is the most well known player in america and probably gets some nice checks from the APA, WPBA, and apparently even Bass Pro Shops (among others).

Who knows what her actual annual income from all of these is. But I think she's probably doing pretty well.

Unlike Davis and Hendry Higgins has not dominated the sport, in fact he had a pretty poor last season by his standards.
His share was only a small portion of the total prize fund.

The OP posted about tournament winnings - not endorsement deals, etc.

I think we are all well aware of her notoriety.

Dale...The thread can relate to money made from pool in any legitimate way (by a poolplayer) , and when it's about who made that kind of money from pool, in that catagory Jeanette Lee wins...hands down. It's pretty common knowledge that Jeanette is making mid-6 figures annually, from several sources...the biggest sponsor being Bass Pro. Jeanette is also the front person for the APA (which pays her six figures annually). She is represented by Octagon, one of the most prominent sports representation agencies in the country. I'm not the only one that knows this stuff. BTW, she's worth every penny she makes. She's a great player, great personality, and a great professional representative for the sport of pool.

much tougher to dominate snooker in this modern era.
In the past you had Alain Robidoux as your toughest opponent, now you have Robertson, Selby, Lee, Trump, O' Sullivan, Murphy and a lot of other strong players.
The playing level of today is much higher. In fact, nobody is dominating the snooker scene.
