Mark,I'm just giving my opinion, sorry I got you hot about it.
I respect and like, believe it or not, most of the promoters that indirectly (in this case, through this forum), I've said that they are not doing a good job.
They have all been good to me, before my marriage and after, lol, before meeting my adorable daughter, and after..
I understand they try, they work hard, and it is much better to have them doing what they are doing, than not having them putting up events at all.
I may sound demanding and playing victim in the name of the players in general, but I'm not.
I'm just trying to get across my opinion, and quick. But I'm not really attacking anyone, personally. I'm just trying to give a constructive critic
I enjoy and participate in their events as much as I can.And I love it. But there are many flaws, and not only about the lame payouts, but in organization, politics, decision, etc. I mean, seriously, there isnt even referees in the US Opens!
I hate playing victim, and trying to talk in the name of many pool players, but you yourself have seen how many of the best ones of all time live, and how bad many struggle.
I understand that many of them have made terrible decisions in their life, and didnt manage to manage their winnings right, etc.
Many top players did not get a College education because they were too busy getting high, partying and most of all, playing pool,gambling,etc...
It's sad to say it like this but it is true, and now I am attacking the players, that many are drug addicts and losers.
Just like text messages, nowadays, things can get misunderstood in forums. You can read, but you can't see the face, the expression, the tone, and that is part of an opinion or an answer, as well.(it aint just what I write, theres a person in the other side of the screen, and a face, and a million other thoughts and processes and experiences, and frustrations, and a million things, that you could only understand if you were inside that person).
Thats why we cant absolutize anything. We cant think we are right and the rest are wrong.
What I tried to say in this post is that if I see good-hearted promoters come up with tournaments that pay better in proportion, than other bigger events. And that makes me believe that some of the bigger promoters can do better. Although I understand many factors I can't grasp, since I am not a promoter, nor a business man.
I truly feel, Pro pool in particular can be improved for the players, and more money to the prize fund could be possible,if the right promoters could be in charge.
Maybe what we have are too many good business men, that care about making a good sum, but do not care enough for the players, in both the amateur level and the Professional level.
Maybe we need more promoters that can really promote to make it a little bit better for the players.
Thats all I wanted to say.
My opinions will be easy to critic, just like any other; for the same reason it is so easily to start a conspiracy theory about..just about anything really.
But I am perfectly comfortable with being wrong in my opinions. As a matter of fact I know I will be in many points, and some others perhaps not so much. So what?
When I see people being wrong I laugh with them often, maybe because I can see their faces, I can understand why they think the way they do.
Well, I like playing pool and what I express is nothing but my concern, from my perspective. Is that so wrong? Well,if it is,it's fine. Let me be wrong.
Many pool players in this country are suffering over the game, when is not supposed to be this way. It doesnt have to be.
I see in their faces, in every tournament I go, they are not happy, and I think both the players and Organizations should stop fighting and criticizing each other, and start working together, I mean really starting to work together.
