In the search for best cue

Hello, im playing pool for like 6 years, im started play with simple cue with hard maple shaft and have been playing with it for 3 years, then i switch to Predator Ikon with Z2 shaft, and then it take atleast 6 months to get used to that cue and after year using it i decide to change it becouse i havnt good stroke and with Z2 shaft i put too much spin on ball. So i changed cue to Predator SP6GN with 314 2 and after month using my playing level keep increasing, and last year i improve my stroke a little bit and im playing so much better than before, but i decide to change my cue becouse of linen wrap slippery, i only get good grip when my hands sweat and i dont like the linen. I try many Mezz cues from other players and i liked all of them so i decide to get Mezz MSP-M sneaky pete wrapless with wd700, i like my 314 but after reading forum that mezz shaft have more feedback, more consistent i thought ill give it a try. My old cue characteristics are: butt weight 15.0oz, shaft 3.6oz, balance 17.7 inch from back of cue and Mezz: butt weight 14.8oz, shaft 4.4oz and balance point 19.3 back of cue. So after 2 weeks of playing with new cue my notes: i can pocket balls a little better when spin dont needed, i can make cut shots so much better, more consistent, but the cue dont have power like predator has, and when i need to make long shot with spin i just cant do it. Im strugling on tournaments, making mistakes which i never do before and i hate do mistake whithout pressure on.. Im playing on 3 different pool halls, in one the cloth is pretty fast and cushions not bad im playing pretty good, im even made three 9 ball run outs in a row after 1 week playing, of course it was great break shots and i didnt need any good shot to do, but in other pool halls where cloth is slow, it is so hard to play for me, im just doing fouls which i never do before, maybe i didnt get used to it, but i think i never will, becouse balance is more rear weighted and deflection seems much more than 314. So im thinking of getting 314 for my mezz or just keep playing and try get used to it, im looking for good opinions what to do, im really confused.

try a BD CUE ( Bob Danielon ) with his SS360 shaft at 12,5mm ,you'll love it and you'll see everything wil go smoothier .
Best cue i've ever played with and i played with a lot of different cues in my life .

does the cue with balance more in back than rear gives more power when you do a shot or otherwise?

there is no answer for this question

any one that has a buddy building cues is going to say that his is the best, so other people's opinion are not right foir you. the only way you will ever have a cue that is the best for you, is for YOU to decide.

This what I got from your post:

You had a Predator and loved everything about it except the wrap. So you got a Mezz and can't shoot with it.

My advice would be to get a Predator with the same shaft as before but a wrap better suited to your liking.

If that isnt an option try changing your tip to something else. The tip makes a huge difference in cue playability sometimes.

right, but i want also a little bit more rear weighted cue and i want to try mezz shaft, mezz shaft shoots good except i cant make spins like i used to and also i have to shoot stronger to get same power than with predator, i thought rear weighted cue works otherwise and gives more power..

find a straight house cue or cheap sneaky without a wrap. get one with the proper weight and diameter u like and just play and have fun. practice your pre-shot routine, keep it simple like three strokes and shoot. get as low to to the cue ball as possible and/or comfortable. don't worry about your cue, worry about improving your game. go to the library and get a how-to book on improving your game and give it a yr or two. see what happens. u might surprise yourself.

english is not my main language, so maybe i got misunderstood, with my old cue i wasn't happy only becouse wrap mostly so i got good deal on mezz and i took it, i just wonder do i made bad choice to change shaft after 3 years playing with it or i just need much more time to used to it or need expirement with weight or something, anyway i can pick house cue ant still beat most players in pool hall, but u know 2 missed shots in match can upside down the whole match, and many small things are important in this game based on my own expierence.. Just trying to get as many useful information as possible, i cant get much information in my country.

Are you just trying another cue because it feels better? If you don't get the same performance out of it I would sacrifice a bit of feel for better performance.

It may also be that you are just not accustomed to it yet.

Take it from someone that was once bitten by the cueforia bug: I don't think there is a universally perfect cue or a universally best cue. Don't believe the marketing hype. Don't convince yourself that XYZ cue is the be-all-end-all cue.

You really have to try a bunch of cues to see what is right for YOU. Many things come down to personal taste. Be willing to experiment. Most players you meet will let you hit with their cue - once they are comfortable you will respect their equipment.

You will eventually find a cue that has a hit that feels right to you.

Good luck on your quest.

Ditto the above from Shaft. But once you find something you like, keep it for a year or two and focus on your game with confidence in your cue... and stop frequent changing...BUT, if possible, keep trying other cues if you can...anybody that will let you play it for 5-10 minutes to see what the differences are before you invest a lot... Some you will immediately like and some you will immediately dislike, if you are far enough along to feel the difference. Enjoy! :D

The answer is always 42 ! ...............

no wait, it's 23 ............................................................... :D

42 is the correct answer if you are left handed, if you're a righty than it's 23......get with the program already geesh.

If the hit feels right, and you don't like the butt - get a handful of butts that have different weight balance points. Play with each for a few days. You'll find one that has the balance point for your height and stance.

Well that explains it !

Here all this time I thought it was me. I'm ambi-,......... ambi-dex,.......
I'm both lefty and right-handed. (yes, I've heard all the jokes).

(Why do I suddenly feel like steaming instead of flying ? )

It's not the cue...it's you. Spend your time and money learning the game and developing your mechanics. You first cue was good enough to win a world championship if only it were in the right persons hands. You can't buy yourself a game nor a stroke. You must earn it. If you miss shots with English practice them don't blame the cue nor the tip nor anything other than yourself.
