Ultimate 10-Ball Adds More Money

I have mentioned this before, but I guess this is a good time to mention it again.

It would be fantastic if somebody would take the initiative to create a pool event calendar *and* -- this is a very important "and" -- keep it up to date. In other words, it would be helpful if there was one calender that allowed either one person to post events and links to events on a calendar or, in the alternative, allow members to post events on the calendar.

Here on this forum software, up at the top, we have a "Calendar" tab or button. It is for birthdays. Instead of birthdays, would it not be worthy of consideration to allow this section to be a calendar for tournaments, regional tour events, world championships, et cetera, to be posted?

Even the weekly $10-entry-fee tournaments could be added. I would imagine there could be something happening almost every day of the week.

A calendar of this caliber could be "the" one place that everyone would turn to, allowing them to see what's happening. Eventually, people would utilize this calendar more frequently if they knew of its existence. It would draw more traffic to this website, which I'm sure the sponsors would like in addition to the other amenities offered at AzBilliards website. Just a suggestion.

I don't know. Maybe a pool calender is worthy of having its own independent website. Pool industry members might feel something like this is worth advertising on, if the calendar became popular, receiving thousands of hits on a daily basis.

Hmm. Maybe this could be my ticket to retirement. Somebody better snatch this idea up quickly before I jump on it. :grin-square:

Hello Jam,
How are you and Keith doing these days? I am OK. Just a line to let you know that Kid Carl won the big once a month first Saturday of the month 9 ball handicapped tournament at Buffalo Billiards last night. He played really well to win it too. There was a large Calcutta also. Kid Chris was runner up to Kid Carl. Heavy hitters cannot play in this tournament. B players give C and under players the 8 ball. Ronnie Wiseman, Justin Hall, Lock N Load, Richie Richeson, Tre Baker, had to watch this tournament from the side lines.

The worlds pool hall had Champions all over the place Friday night.
Take care, Jam.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

I have to wonder if Bonus Ball is keeping players from entering the Ultimate Ten Ball.

I know that the person who comes in 32 of this event will receive $1500. That would more than cover the expenses for this event since it is only 5 days long.

The hotel expense is nominal as a double room is only $69.

The entry fee is $500 and that gets you into one of the BEST and most LURCRATIVE events of the year.

It's not going to take a lot of matches for you to win to pay for all of your expenses and then some.

The top money spots are over the moon.

Players, Stake horses, Sponsors:

Get it together. Send your top player to this event and do it right away.
There is a cut off to this event you know.

In closing, its nice to see some of the industry's top people chiming in and getting behind Badi Nazhat for one of this year's MOST LUCRATIVE TOURNAMENTS and prestigious tournaments.

Maybe Reid Pierce will come out of retirement for this event. :)

I know a guy that sold his backup cue for $300 to get there. It was worth lots more, hope he does well.

more added money by Badi Nazhat for ultimate 10 ball

This really shows me I connected with the right promoter. It helps the players and makes the southern classic even better. Thanks again Badi. I'm proud to have our events back to back. Greg/Diamond

The world of pool sometimes brings the 1960's show "Gilligan's Island" to mind. For those unaware of this show, it's premise was that a group of seven people on a cruise encounter a brutal storm and are washed to shore on an island not yet on anybody's map, and from which they cannot communicate with anybody. Stranded, they barely get by in a primitive lifestyle and on that rare occasion that a potential rescuer shows up to their island, a mistake is always made by one of the castaways that either obstructs or dissuades the rescuer from helping them.

It was a "3 hour cruise, the weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed...."

I'm mister Howell, in case anyone wandered, not that anyone cares.

and Mary Ann was way hotter than Ginger.

Yup, ditto on Dawn Wells. She was beautiful.

I have to wonder if Bonus Ball is keeping players from entering the Ultimate Ten Ball.

We specifically scheduled so that all of our players could not only attend but have significant travel time to arrive and return from this event.

I have no doubts that this event will fill up in both divisions. I am also confident that most if not all players on a WPBL roster will be attending and over half will be staying for the Southern Classic.

I think this is just a case of the players either trying to find the money still or just waiting till the last minute rather than paying up front.... nothing new as most know.

BB should just put the players in and charter a bus. Do a cross country BB tour from vegas to tunica.

Bonus ball players needing money?

How's this for advertising, why doesn't the WPBL bonus ball pay the entries for their 36 players, make them wear their bonus ball gear to play.
I mean what's 18k in advertising to a multiple million dollar business.

Maybe they could drum up some bonus ball matches on the side in the action room. Would be interesting.

This event is fast moving up my pool bucket list. Looking forward to meeting Badi in Tunica..... Maybe next year I'll be in at least decent enough form to play and not embarrass myself....

I do not see the logic at all in shelling out $18,000 for that, I doubt you will find many that will agree that is a good idea financially for any business with an explanation that makes any sense to go along with the agreement. I would take that money and get a billboard somewhere in Vegas or put an ad in some of the local magazines or perhaps a Bonus Ball shuttle van with a custom wrap. If the players want Bonus Ball to succeed they will wear the jerseys or the logo in any tournament or challenge match they play on to show support and do their part to help promote it, I think you will see that where it is allowed. I do like the idea of the players having a booth at the major events to promote the game along with doing little exhibitions every hour or two playing one another or teaching and introducing people to the game.

I think some players like to have sponsors or backers put them in so for some it is in the works and its awhile away before Tunica starts, some might be using Bonus Ball earnings to get to and in events also. Most pool players do not know what they are doing tomorrow so you cannot expect them to be doing anything early. Bonus Ball is letting players make choices, for some it makes sense to play as they have a chance to win events and make money, the guys who do not will play Bonus Ball for the sure cash. I think this year is a good year for the pro pool player with lots of opportunities.

Just a quick reminder, the Bigfoot Ten Ball Challenge will immediately follow the Ultimate 10 Ball event on June 21-25. This event will feature 32 of the sport's elite players competing on 10' Diamond tables for more serious cash, 20K on top!

If the promoter or any promoters are reading this may I suggest that you invest in making a banner or series of banners and logos that anyone who is interested can take and post on their websites. It's incredibly easy to make a snippet of code that inserts the banner and a link back to the website.

Here is a good example. http://www.hostgator.com/press.shtml

Like this:

"URL="http://www.ultimate10ball.com/2010/websitemedia/logo.gif"]IMG]http://www.ultimate10ball.com/2010/websitemedia/logo.gif[/IMG[/URL" (done without the brackets for forum BB code so you can read the code)

Make it easy for those of us with websites and blogs to promote your event and link back to it. While we are all busy with our own thing if it's a simple copy/paste operation then often we will do it impulsively. It's a good idea to have a press/promotion section where anyone can download posters, flyers, banners, etc...

Have a promotion where any pool room that shows a picture of the poster hanging in their room in a prominent location would be in a drawing for $100 or a better still a signed event poster with all or most of the participants.

I mean there is SO MUCH that can be done that is actually EASY and doesn't cost much money, only more time and effort (which of course is money but not much).

Jay,

The Bigfoot, The Southern Classic, The Ultimate 10 Ball.

I know some may not agree but you gotta support all of these events. Proven track record, experience and financial stability. The promoters are solid on every point.

I'm all about supporting the new opportunities, but not in place of existing solid events.

Who is the WPBL? I must be out of the loop...

I bet that even the most internet-allergic pro's have a cell phone.

If someone set up a database of those phone numbers, and sent them a text message, the word would get around pretty quickly.

Of course it would have to be set up with someone that folks would trust to not disseminate the numbers, only for text-blasts...

Just a thought for your fledgling business venture, JAM :p

I have often seen top players refrain from passing on the word about tournaments that they want to play in. I guess they feel like the less people playing in the event, the better for them. Small-minded thinking imo. I've always felt that the larger the field, the more money in the pot and a better chance to play someone who isn't necessarily a world champion.
