This is why I don't like to play for money!!! ...

Really guy? You must be crazy. You are blowing this hole thing way out of proportion. I was not mad at all. You quit me because you said you weren't playing well. Stating "that was only about 30% of my game." I offered to play you in 8 or 9 ball for 50-100 a set cause you looked to be struggling while practicing and i didnt think you would play for more than that. You are the one that chose the set to be for $50 and you never said anything about only playing one set. You probably realized I was dumping the set to try an get you to play for more money. Which if that is the case then I don't blame you, I probably would do the same thing and quit. Then you assumed I was upset because I said "oh we are only playing one set, I guess that's how it is done here." You tried to make it seem like the money wasn't an issue by boasting something like I make $50 every half hour. To which I stated "if you wanted to play for more all you had to do was ask.". See people like you is why there is no more gamble in pool in the state of sc. You can go on here and act all cool and make me seem like I was out of line all you want if it makes you feel better about yourself. Btw you would never hear a good pool player tell anyone "that was only 30 percent of my game.". I had to turn away so you didn't see me laugh. Anyway good set, you got my $50. Glad I could make you feel better. Guess that is one less half hour you have to work before you can retire.

Where was this in SC?

Nope I sure dont, got millions, sleep til i want to and life is good. Enjoy trading hours for dollars, let me know how that works out for you-in another 20 years LOL

Eric, we all know you got a few bucks but not everyone who has a job is a slave. There are others on this forum with millions and they don't make arrogant posts like this. I'm not a millionaire but I enjoy my job and I make an honest living and take care of my family. There is NOTHING wrong with that.

You sir were the victim of a lock artist. I would give you game until one of us went broke or they closed the place down. It is a sad day indeed for anyone looking for action. The puritian league mentality has infected "real pool" and it is never coming back. They just don't make that many players wit heart anymore.

Had a guy quit me winner one time and I started whining, here are his words and I have never forgot them."you started the same time I did" I didn't like it at the time but It did make some sense after I thought about it.John B.

Yeah, but John you forgot to mention....You were in too your twelfth hour of play. ;)

Most of us trade hours for dollars. We have to. You are lucky that you don't have to, but you don't have to laugh at those of us who do.

So you don't have a job?!?!?!
Don't have to be to work in the morning?
How in the world could I ask you to understand?

How did I guess that?

So, MR professional gambler who knows all the rules of the world,
Should everyone on here expect you to offer the same criticizing advice when the next thing comes up?

My advice to you...unless you have something to offer constructively, don't post. The forum doesn't need another jerk.

Ps, I'm no victim, I won...remember

I do have a job and I do have to work in the morning (I'm there now), but when I gamble with someone it's clear how long I'll play. If it's only one set, they know before we start. Just how it's done.

easy-e, In Myrtle beach at a tourney SD was holding.
AAplayr, Sadly you are right. The guy just assumed I was some young punk with no money because I wasn't dressed in a collared shirt and slacks. What ever makes him feel better.

I got no beef with slavery, i was a slave to my biz for 12 years. damn near killed me, was carrying nitro for my heart for 8 years(5 years until I closed it and 3 more after) Stress lands on my heart. I dont carry nitro anymore.

I respect people who work, and are loyal to their family, career, business, and do the right thing. They deserve the absolute highest respect, how I live my life(currently) dont deserve near as much respect.

the reason i give them some people shit, is only a response to them starting it back with me, so i throw it in their face-ony that specific person, not everyone who has a job. It was my mistake for not making that clear.

And I hold you in high regard as you know, I have always (to best of my recollection) been respectful to you, we might not always agree-but i respect you,

All good bud. Comments like that just trickle down to us all and I for one am proud of what I do and how I make my share.

To show how sorry you are, I'll accept an apology boat. This one should do:

Give your apology boat a bit more thought, dont you want a helipad on it? much more handy.:p I'll give my Yacht broker a call and a few of my yacht builders a call and see whats coming in soon and I'll fix you right up.

best
Eric<------has never owned a boat.

EDIT: there is no intent of trickle down, i respect the hell out of anyone who gets up everyday and makes it happen. its only the people who disrespect or lie on me that i fire back at. If they are to old to work, i make fun of their age, if they are in prime position-not much to pick on, so i play the work card. it is a bit hyprotical as I worked my whole life, I was a slave to several businesses.

So the plot thickens!

So guy, on your end did you learn anything from this episode? Like maybe if you are going to try to hustle someone it is best to hustle them on there money not yours. Stall the first set if you like but win it!

I had a funny thing happen to me in one of my One Pocket sessions. I was playing this guy I had never met before. Playing for $50 and game I beat him for double digit games then I intentually lost a game to him thinking I better pump a little air in his lungs so he might think things are finally beginning to turn around for him. To my surprise the guy unscrewed saying "I was prepared to play all day and night till I won a game". Then he showed me a bankroll that would shake the Vatican. Ouch!

No one has said your opponent didn't have the right to quit. I just want him to admit he went about it poorly. That is like pulling teeth with this guy. Suckers are suckers and will always remain suckers.

I never said you weren't lying when you made those claims

I made $175,000 a week, get your math right. Want to see my tax returns? I paid more in taxes than you ever will make. But thats besides the point, lets take this private-show some class, or did you lose that too?

I never said you weren't lying when you made those claims. Basic assumption is that anything you say isn't true since you are incapable of honesty. We all know that the root of your money is from conning the old people and desperate so no surprise you hold old people in contempt either.

As usual you miss the mark however. I'm not old, not on the med's you claim, I'll let your class and mine speak for themselves. However I never let somebody use my ethics as a weapon against me. You asked me to post this:

PM from eric AKA fatboy, AKA eric Peterson, AKA eric Petersen, AKA ??? titled "classless old man"

i feel sorry for you, post this in your next post.

since you cant keep your mouth shut.

haha

Another set would put us into 2:30-3am ...can't do.

I am always in the same boat. I have a professional career that will always pay much much more than pool.
However, I have a lot of experience in this exact situation. And I ALWAYS let the opponent know I have set amount of time before we even begin. If it is on a night I have to be at work the following day. Even if I have 4 hours left to play, I let them know I have to leave by this time etc.... Everyone has always understood that and never have had problems.
But it is also why I and many other people I have talked to can't play to many tournaments. They sometimes go Sat and into Sun late nights, like people don't have to work? This will never get people like this into pool. Just another of the many reasons pool does not grow as it should. It has to be a family oriented sport first and foremost or it will remain the same as it has for the past 20 years. And a family oriented sport does not go 3 or 4 in the morning. Many sports we can give as examples of this very thing, which are highly highly successful.

Local tournaments with races to 11? It's not the pro's, locals (the kind that can put money into the sport) don't make a living playing pool and can't stay in a pool hall all day for two days (or atleast I hope not for their wallets sake) nor do they need races to 9 or 11. Ever seen a level 3-4 player play a race to 11? OMG.... It is so hard to bear. Local tournaments should be like the 80s, best out of 3 games or something in 9 ball. Tournaments were over and done in 3 or 4 hours starting from 7 with quite a lot of players and really good pots. And you know, there were a lot more people playing in them back then...
A whole nother subject deserving of it's own thread:cool:

Every once in a while I repeat Tom Ferry's rules which were pay after each set and anybody can quit at any time, agreed to before he started playing.

Another way to do it is announce you are quitting about 30 minutes before you intend to quit and act like you are doing him a favor playing another 30 minutes.

Hi Al,

Thanks for reminding all of us of "Old Has Been". Tom was a pretty smart guy and a great player. Good advice to go by. Sure miss his anecdotes.

I had a feeling there was a bit more to the story. I wasn't there so its pretty much he said/he said etc....but if I get in the box and don't set it up right from the git go, it's my own damn fault...we play until you or I are bust, OR we both agree to continue another day. The players/hustlers etc that really gamble and get in the grease understand this. Have a job the next day at 8, deal with it... it might be less sleep but also a potential epic story of busting someone to your buddies...just be prepared to take an earful of comments if you use it as an excuse to stop action ESPECIALLY starting set one at 9 PM.
