No one is above their word.
All I am saying is that everyone including cue makers, table mech, etc................ should be totally up front and honest to the best of their ability to their customers.

As I did explain already, and said I failed to complete the job, so i had to back out of it. So, what else would you have liked me to do to satisfy your opinion...and don't throw in finishing the job:rolleyes:

Not really, but since you asked, I would like to know how you failed to communicate to the OP that the job would take as long as it did? From what I understand you are a standup guy and once you start a job you always complete it. It seems to me the only issue that really happened here is the expecation of the customer wasn't properly set. I work in the support business and typically the part where things break down is when the expecations of the customer are not in line with the service you offer.

Ok, so why are you posting in this thread? Also, this is very much not a closed thread. People are open to talk about whatever they want as long as they do not breach the forum rules.

Even if the issue has been resolved by RKC and OP, obviously people want to discuss how the whole thing was handled and share opinions on that. If you don't like it you should leave.

I thought I had seen a post where you said you did set the expecation the service could take longer than anticipated but the OP said otherwise in the original post. The only reason I want clarification on this subject is *IMO* that is what this whole thing boils down to.

If it makes you feel better, I dropped the ball on this deal and failed the customer, so the reset button was hit and he got his money back and rails shipped back. Now what? There's no point in going over this over and over again, as it's not going to reverse the past. So, now what...a bunch of you here on AZ want to know what the break down in this deal was?...why?...so you can go back and fix things so they don't happen again in the future?....Is that it?...Trust me, you don't have to worry about that happening again, then next time I pull up to a customers house....if there's no room for parking, I'm leaving....without ever starting the job.

Glen owes no one but the OP any clarification of anything having to do with this topic. But he HAS posted all of the information your asking for in this thread. Problem is most people are too interested in the sh#t throwing thats gone on to comprehend what happened.

Anyone that has ever dealt with customers has seen it happen before. Business says I'll try, I may be able to, I will do my best to, or any other statement followed by a date or a time and all the customer hears is the date or the time. Cant tell you how many times in the last business I ran we would tell the customer the installer would be there between 9:30 to 11:30. At 9:35 the customer would call screaming he was PROMISED the installer would be there BY 9:30.

I can not say with all certainty this is what happened here as I was not there obviously. But Id be willing to bet after reading this thread it was along these lines.

Disclaimer**** the above was used as an EXAMPLE and is in no way trying to compare the OP wait time to that of being 5 mins late. I am NOT a nut hugger, have never had Glen work on a table or met him. I also do not approve or disapprove of his reaction to the early portion of the thread, all I can say is I understand how a knee jerk reply on the internet can get out of hand. To Glen he was trying to help a guy out, and then got blasted on the internet so he reacted. Glen may have been in an area with bad reception and was not responding to the OP which caused the OP to react.

I don't think some people understand this type of service business. RKC is not a drive thru burger joint or Walgreens or even the contractor you hire to build a new deck.

He said he couldn't help the guy,yes the customer was inconvenienced,not a big deal and not a rip off as the thread title claims.
