Bonus Ball Players Can get Staked at The Southern Classic

I talked to Greg Sullivan tonight and asked him about the details of the offer to stake any BB player that wanted to play the Southern Classic events but was tight on money.

As an amateur stake horse in a former life I think its a pretty fair deal. It works like this:

Any BB player on a teams main roster that wants to play all of the Southern Classic events can get staked to tournament entries and buy backs. Any winnings are split 50/50 between the player and the backer (Greg/Diamond/Jay/Whoever?) Expenses DO NOT come off the top. basically if a player can get to Tunica he can play in the vents and keep half of whatever he wins without paying any entries or buybacks.

If anyone is interested call Jay Helfert directly.

He explained to to me that the reason for doing this was Darren saying that many players are having trouble with money and that is a reason some are not coming. I'm just passing this on so if you love this idea or hate it I am not the guy to tell it to. Anyone who qualifies for the offer and is interested contact Jay . I cant/won't answer your questions. If you qualify and do not have Jays number PM or text me and I will get it to you.

My feeling after a long conversation is Greg just wants as many guys as possible who want to play to have the chance. I know that now every dude who can swing is a cue is going to say "What about me" and all I can say is call Jay.

Edited to correct contact person per Greg.

Oops. My bad. I also should of said "get to Tunica and stay there." Travel arrangements are on the players from what I understood. Nice gesture for the guys who are going to the ultimate 10 ball anyway and might be tight on cash for entries to the SC.

A class act from a classy man. Greg Sullivan is a truly positive force in American pool and we're lucky to have him.

Nice gesture though by a nice Guy..Good luck

We are just offering one more option for Bonus Ball players who are having trouble deciding what to do, go home or go for the gold!

The more I read about this, the more I am developing a disdain for Bonus Ball. How BB could allow this to happen with their scheduling snafu is unforgiveable, number one, and number two, to see Greg Sullivan's efforts to help players financially warms my heart. The contrast is unbelievable.

I have *always* been the biggest cheerleader for professional pool players, sometimes to my own detriment, on this forum, but now I am slowly realizing what everybody else is talking about when it comes to selfishness and lack of integrity among today's pro players.

What I think doesn't matter, though. I'm just a pool enthusiast, a fan, a railbird. In fact, after this latest turn of events, the attraction of pool is waning for me. There's better things to do with my time and energy in the autumn of my life than watch these Bonus Ball idiots ruin the pool world with their "my way or the highway" approach to an already suffering and fractured pool industry.

These opinions are my own. I know Greg Sullivan truly wants Bonus Ball to succeed. Why? Because he cares about the players. That's the difference today between Greg and me.

I'm sorry, but I've got to get this out of my system. We're getting ready for a tornado. So let me just say it and get it over with:

BONUS BALL SUCKS A BIG WEENIE!

Jennie, I really think you are off base here. Majority of Bonus Ball players can actually play at Tunica, there are only a few that cannot. It is up to the players whether they want to go or can afford to plain and simple. Most of this stuff being posted on the forums is misinformation sadly. Bonus Ball is giving the players a paycheck, if Keith was on the payroll I think you might be singing a different tune but you are entitled to your opinion but your postings although written well are somewhat inaccurate.

Bonus ball stock just went up.

It sure did for forum members like yourself. You and I have always been on the opposite sides of issues, in more ways than one. :)

You don't have to worry about me posting about Bonus Ball again. They're dead as far as I'm concerned.

There's better things in life, for me at any rate, than pool.

Enjoy the forum, Luxury. Your contributions are so enriching. :p

Thanks, Lenny. I hear what you are saying. I wish you only the best. Sweet blessing are coming your way!

I would rather have the players see the blessings. Keith is lucky to have you but we know many other players from the past were not so lucky. The old formula does not work, so the logical thing to do is make changes so it does for the players sake.

Dictators preach the same philosophy as Bonus Ball. My blessings wish is only for you and nobody else.

BB players who withdraw for whatever reason, are banned for life, yet BB player who haven't yet signed up are now being offered to be staked?

Sounds like rather contrasting extremes.

Can Greg maybe call the North and South player reps (Archer/Hohmann) and clarify? If the situation has now changed, it would be best that the players know this, especially given that hardly any of them read Az.

Damn. I was going to be a bonus ball investor if you kept on posting against it.

I think we all have better things in our life than pool. Especially if we aren't 60.
