~~~~Dennis Searing~~~~
It is a keeper for sure ! Obo with you my friend but good luck hope you get it!
All will be revealed unto us in a few days.
If I get it it will be my Lifetime Player (OBO). My old Lifetime Player (which I've had for a few months) will go on the block.
To the OP, it's a complicated matter why DS cues command so much dollar.
DS cues are the best cues of all time.
:)
Joey~Not backing out of that statement ~
Oh, Ebay deleted the fake one.
I want whatever it is that you're smoking...lol! The rules either apply to all or none.....irregardless of who they are or what they're selling.
As to iTrader...I don't use it at all...far too easy to skew. I prefer to rely on those I have dealt with before or know and trust. If there is any question, I'll use Marcus to escrow. Pretty simple, really.
If Mike had a issue, do you not think he'd say something Lisa? Are you the official talking head for the forum now? Personally don't see anything wrong with the post.
This auction makes me wonder what the most expensive plane Jane from an active maker would be.
Less.
This cue would be less from Searing but you'd have to wait 11 years. Less from Barry, except you can't even get on his list. Less from Black Boar if Tony would build a maple PJ. Less from Ernie except he won't make a cue in that price range anymore (his 19As were about 2K when he stopped building them a few years back). Less from Tasc (maybe 2K) with a 3 year wait (I think). About 2K from TAD (through J&J). My guess is (and its just a guess) if your time had come up on Searing's list and you got him to build this cue it would be about $2500 from him directly right now. There's John Showman but I don't think he even has a list and then after that, I think everyone else (unless I've forgotten someone) would be less than these numbers.For sure its a supply and demand thing and one of the things you are paying for in that auction was the ability to just have the cue immediately.
Good info Kevin, thanks.
My question was poorly worded. I meant on the secondary market but not from deceased or retired cue makers like Jerry Franklin or Gus.
That would be a nice collection, high end plane Janes.
Tony wanted $5000 for a plain Jane years ago I think it was tickler that posted them! Seems he was making 5 with the prong but cap
I thought of those while I was responding. Weren't they ebony and have some spider inlay or amd I combining cues in my memory?
Sure that would be a fun collection to build. I would imagine the Searing and a Barry would be the most expensive, coming in at the range of this cue, 4 to 4.5K depending when it was built. Ernie's 19As went up a little in value when he stopped building "player cues". You can for sure get one of those with a steel joint for someplace in the low 2Ks. A TAD, say 1.7K.
Like Kevin said...it's supply and demand but I would caution that you don't want to be the guy without a seat when the music stop.
Duc.
One thing this auction showed was that Mr. Searing's tune is still playing loud and proud and is Top of the Charts.
Kevin,
I think it was ebony but no inlays as I remember and they were from Tony so not sure what they went for on the secondary market! WAY OVERPRICED in my opinion but then again I don't like a cue without points and they have to have veneers too.
I'm pretty sure you couldn't buy Joel Hercek's only plain jane made for 4k. :wink:
