BREAKING NEWS: 8/28 Wed 9am, Archer on Today Show with Brooke Shields and Al Roker

Wow, that was a waste.

I'm not seeing anything from johnny. Can anyone else say whatI else was in the Today show segment that included the pool?

I saw the Mr Darcy statue and coverage of Martin Luther King speech, nothing about pool

Ray.

Another captured still from the video by UpState Al.

I think yours is delayed by 1 hour. You will get it at about 10:45 a.m., EASTERN TIME.

I just wasted 30 minutes of my life waiting for it and it never came on in the D/FW area.

I'm gonna go knock some balls around.........

Well as little content as we got vs what we'd hoped for, we got something. I've yet to see it beings my backwoods N Carolina feed is an hour behind "LIVE". (I have rabbit ears on plasma)

Was there any attempt to spin these games as "social games" as represented by Johnny? Or presented as bar games and pool as a gambler's game?

Edited to say, while I was making this post iusedtoberich posted pic's and jimmyg said there was no opportunity for Johnny to speak. TY iused and others for updating the backwoods tech impaired hics!

Matt, there was zero conversation. The reference to "barroom gambling" was made before the commercial that proceeded the trick shot exhibits for each game.

Cold.

It would be cool if the 3 participants got together for lunch or something afterwards.... see how it is in their respective sports. All three are niche sports and are probably all struggling.

that was weak, imo.

no interviews, just an intro for the shuffleboard guy, johnny, and a ping-pong champ.

1st shuffleboard guy makes his trick shot where hit knocks two disks or whatever they call them off the playing surface by sliding two other disks crossing them over diagonally at the target disks. I could prob make that shot 5 out of 10 tries. they mentioned it was a smaller shuffleboard table than normal.

then Johnny had a fun interaction with Brooke as she laid down on her back across the cheapo table which, btw, made no difference - they could have done this on a dining table if it had a corner pocket. Brook was only there as an obstacle for Johnny to shoot the cue ball over her face. he placed the cue ball on I believe, a cube of chalk (or a few cubes) and he then crouched down to strike the underside of whitey to send it over her face then rolling into the wired combo that was waiting down by the corner pocket. I think, unpracticed, I'm making that one 6 or 7 out of 10 times. His entire spot was maybe 60 seconds.

Then the ping pong guy played with a racket first then with his i phone against Brooke and the male host (don't know him).

All in all this was pretty much a waste of time.

not to be a negative nellie, just there was nothing good about it as far as promoting pool, no discussion with johnny, and the shot he got to take really must not have looked all that impressi=ve to folks at home. I don't think so, anyway.

Am I wrong in how I interpreted this segment?

Was there *anything* redeeming for pool?

best,
brian kc

Agree. Not only was there nothing redeeming for pool, niehter was there for shuffleboard or ping pong. I bet all 3 of the guys were thinking to themselves "this is nuts..."
