I was 13 and my brother was 7 when I did the more difficult version of this shot where I had the CB on chalk as JA did, but my brother had a cube of chalk in his mouth with a ball on top and I shot it out of his mouth and into the pocket.

At 13 I didn't need the dead combo to increase my margin of error. And I made the shot 9 out of 10 times!! Of course my mom freaked when she saw us doing this, but it was fun.

I feel bad for Johnny and am almost embarrassed for him.

I think he picked the right shot, and here's why. It was easy and doable. There was a low margin of error on that shot. Even I could pull it off, I guess is what I'm saying. The 8-ball and 9-ball down at the other end of the table were situated where he only had to roll that ball down there in the vicinity, and it would jimmy-jag right in the corner. ;)

I'm so used to broadcast shows doing this. We sometimes get 6 hours of video to work on for producers, which has to be timecoded to the video. Then when it gets on TV, about 5 minutes of it makes the TV show. It's unreal.

That Brooke Shields is an amazon woman. I had no idea she was so big. I don't mean fat. I mean BIG. I like the fact that she doesn't wear a lot of makeup to allow her natural beauty to show through (no false eyelashes), but she had way too much product in her hair, made it look too slicked-down like a Vidalia onion. :o

Spot on and I agree. I was thinking this morning a trick shot guy would of been better off. After a bit of reflection it is a bit disgraceful to have one of the best players of our era shoot shot I can teach my 6 year old niece to shoot in about 5 minutes or less.

Also, I was gonna say this days ago, but it appears some in this thread are stuck in the twilight zone. Lot of comments about "this is what pool needs," or "finally some national exposure," and other sorts of comments. NEWSFLASH...Jeanette has been on almost every major network and talk show multiple times. She has presented herself and the game in a much bigger and broader way and unfortunately it didn't take hold. Here are some more recent clips of how she has promoted the game and in what light. She recently was on a morning show with Justin Tuck promoting RUSH..which is a literacy campaign.

I'm having a hard time visualizing Brooke Shields with a piece of Blue Master's chalk in her mouth balancing an 8-Ball. LOL :grin-square:

That picture is the shot I used to do with my brother that my mom wasn't a big fan of!:D

Regarding the posts before this morning, nobody really knew how little exposure it was going to give. Had it been a few more minutes with Mosconi Cup mentions, etc. It would have been good for pool.

Remember, pool players look at this morsel of meat (exposure) as a 16 oz filet. Pool is starving in the marketing department of pool and always hope for more.
 
It's probable the segment lost time due to the impending bombing of Syria in concert with MLK March. It was a big news day. Johnny was told he'd have enough time to have Brooke shoot once and Roker shoot once.

I think his shot selection was a compromise, and a wise one. Just show it to a few non-pool enthusiasts and watch their reaction - that's who we're targeting IMO. Not all us giant slayers here.
 
The lag shots are unexplainable. At first I thought the ticker must have been hiding the ball on the rail and he was doing the "impossible cut" trick shot. Wrong.

I guess since everything else has been covered I will point out that in a game with a bunch of stripes and an eight ball, his shot accomplished making his opponents ball which I suppose was the right shot. :)

If you want to target the non pool players , you don't start with the crowd watching the today show and you don't start with JA
You start on Nick with Florian Venom he's someone who the kids would take too real quick his trick shot performance would leave those kids in awe
Cool ,hip , got skills and girls , there you have something

Yeah but Brooke Shields isn't gonna stick around while he tries a spin shot for the Nth time. It only looks cool after the so many tries have been edited out.

You have a point, although under that pressure the odds of making a difficult masse' shot are "slim to none".....this segment served the purpose of putting pool in the mass consciousnesses for 30 seconds or so.

To get this type "brand exposure" (yes, pool is a brand of game) it can cost in the neighborhood of 30-50K to an advertiser. This does make an impact for sure!

One isolated occurrence of this type advertising exposure doesn't do much, but the goal should be for ALL PROS to get on TV in some way, on some station, doing something to get the game exposure.

Here's a Link (Click Here) of some exposure Earl Strickland and I got on TV in New York....it's different, but sets the "sample example" of what we all can do to make a difference.

I have 11 yr daughter who thought that video of his was nothing short of amazing
Which it was ,it took trick shots to another level . Anyone who has not seen it ,should
It's not old Dr cue and Brawny Mike Massy , it's skinny cool kid with glasses and a hot young girl on the side ,, it' would be can't miss with the kids , this is the market of the future for the life of me I can't figure out why people don't see that.
Some one needs to make pool cool again and Florian could be that guy
