Rodney Morris Challenges the Top 25 European Players

I completely agree. However, the only way to know if it is indeed fair to both sides is to keep a record of the quality of every single rack, and determine at the end of the match if both players received an equal number of good racks or bad.

The point of "checking" is to keep it fair for both sides.

KMRUNOUT

That's an, um, unusual way to keep things 'fair'.

The way to keep things fair to both players is impartial refs and magic racks.

The law is blind, y'know?

Here I agree with you 100%. That would absolutely make it fair. But for some reason people complain about the magic rack!!

the players are not allowed to rack the balls and are not allowed to touch them

CJ,

I like what you say here. I do, however, disagree with a few things you said.

Anyway, good post.

The top players were referring to the US OPEN as the "Racking Championships"....this is a problem that needs to be addressed as soon as possible and fixed once and for all. It's not that difficult to fix, but the rules must be enforced with an "iron hand".

It's all about problem prevention and focusing on the positive attributes of the game....the racking doesn't' need to be an issue with a Referee racking the 9 Ball on the spot and the players breaking from the "break box" for instance.

There's several ways that would be fair, but letting the player examine the rack is simply unnecessary .... as long as it's the same for both players.

I personally don't care what the final rule is as long as the players are not allowed to rack the balls and are not allowed to touch them.....this is the most important thing.

money matches

I didnt respond to facebook because at moment i got lot on my plate and the topic become a little bit silly...

I played over 100 money matches ranging from min 2-50k a time. and won at least 75-80% of them and all over the world and lots of them in america and philippines etc.Playing one pocket/9ball/10ball/8ball... against lot of great players... yes i lost 3 tar matches 2 of them money matches i just happened to play bad In races to 100 which i didnt like/enjoy at all.One of them i gave weight. Other was a challenge match both players get paid to play. So am very comfortable playing for money i actually believe am a better money player than tournament player.. But last 3-4 years i really focused on playing tournaments and not money games and it paid off..In the past i focused more on money games and that affected my tournament play..But last few years i still won some money games and challenge matches they just wasn't streamed or reported etc.

anyway next year i feel like getting my head down and playing some huge money matches as i miss it..

I dont enjoy races to 100 they are boring and lack pressure and nerves..

i like head sets or races to 30-35 or best of 3/5 sets to 25s thats plenty big enough race and more pressure imo

But once i get settled sometime next year i will play anybody in the world for money in england ESP....And most players i would play in usa also.

England is where my big stake horses are and for them to bet on me they want to watch... so it hard for me to get staked big in states.

Plus 90% of my matches last 6-7 years all been in states or asia... So it would be nice to play some huge games in uk for a change...

If rodney or any other american player come england they could play me for upto 50k a man no problem...
and also nikos the greek would play them 50k also in greece.

if shane come to play me in england he could play me for around 25k a man also playing 8ball or 9ball or one pocket.

i can play them in usa but not really any stake horses like england maybe i can raise 10-20k for the likes of rodney.

So next year i will start playing big money games again like i did in manila and usa 2006-2009 and uk 94-2007.. I miss the big action days esp when driving home with Big bags of money :-)...

I will start putting challenges out in the new year once i get settled into my new house and get my table up so i can practise everyday..:-)...

I Will play most players in world at one pocket/8ball/9ball/10ball/straight pool these my preferred disciplines

Next few months be busy with other things but i hope these matches will be put together in future for sure :-)

watch this space.:-).

Matchroom have used both the Sardo Rack and the Magic Rack in past events but Michaela (and her accomplices) have always switched back to the traditional triangle.
But the lady being the consummate professional that she is does not leave anything to chance.
Before each tournament she will check the equipment and it is not an unusual sight to see a pile of discarded triangles as she seeks one that racks the balls to her satisfaction. Thereafter, players need have no fear of getting a 'slug rack'. Sure she is only human - I have seen her rack with the 9 Ball not in the centre of the rack. But you can bet that it was a tight rack.

Agree. People always want to say the races to 100 are marathons, but they're not.

None of the big 100+ races are ever played in a single day. If that were the case, then yes, it would be a great test of endurance.

The simple fact of the matter is that the races to 100 are split up over 2-3 days usually, and gives each player time to recover and think about what happened. The only difference is that in a race to 100, the score doesn't reset.

And CJ's Hero Earl treated her like a pile of dog crap.

She has an incredible sense of humor and certainly not hard on the eyes.

You are such a sweetie.

I ask Michaela Tabb what she whispered in Earl's ear when they had their incident and her answer had me laughing all day long last year in London. She handles controversy with class, authority and an IRON PALM.

I smile everytime I think about how she handles some of the snooker player's issues in the past and now she's the Referee for BONUS BALL.....what a great choice for the future of Pocket Billiards......Referees should be mandatory in ALL professional matches, having them touch the pool balls is a recipe for nothing positive {obviously}.

She has an incredible sense of humor and certainly not hard on the eyes.....if I had a hero it would be her for sure.

.if she's doing the job I would bet very high that it's the finest possible.

I have the utmost confidence in Michaela's abilities and she seems to be a perfectionist......if she's doing the job I would bet very high that it's the finest possible.

Here's a post from yesterday's Bonus Ball.....she's the Referee in Las Vegas this week:

Well I'm glad that's the end of today - hardest day ever refereeing, I won't be doing another day like that again! Feet up now and relax...

That's exciting, Darren, I'm a big fan of High Dollar Money Matches. As a matter of fact that's all anyone ever wants to hear about from my experience.....no one ever wants to hear about winning a tournament, but they are facinated by the gambling stories.

That's why I believe pocket billiards should be more like Boxing, with a show leading up to the "fight" showing the training, and interviewing the player, trainer and showing the routine...then allowing rules that showcase the "Head to Head" combat of the sport.

"There Can Be Only One" or "Two Men Enter the Table, Only One Man Leaves".....LoL...or something like that.

I don't think Rodney is gonna like it no matter where you play.

Max got some craaaaazy forehead wrinkles! Looks like eagle wings!

Win or lose, Rodney enjoys gambling.

It's so cool to finally see some other Pros posting on AZ Billiards, maybe the word is out that the trolls have all been run off, and it's safe to state opinions and messages like Darren did. I can tell a big difference between now and a year ago.

Win or lose, Rodney enjoys gambling....he's a class act, no matter what the outcome....he was one of the toughest matches I've ever played that's for sure.

It's just cool to see some potential big money match ups....hopefully behind closed doors.
