Buddy Hall

I don't see what the problem is.

It would be amazing if buddy got healthy and made a come back.

well the board here for the most part are trashing their players. Nice huh ? I don't think so.

When usa dominated europe i wonder if the euro media would have done the same as our critics.

I think not !!!

I think they would be saying encouraging think like get em next year mates.

And good try men, you keep up the spirits and it will get better.

It hurts to see the insults.

I bet the players won't like it either.

Maybe they think why can;t they give us some credit and show us some class we can build on.

^^^ this ^^^^^^

I understand and embrace the sentiment... But the f-bombs and actions of our team pretty much mean they are reaping what they sow....

You know as well as I do that the first words out of Dennis or Rodney will be I don't care... I got paid.... and you know what attitude stinks... And I will bet you dollars for donuts we won't see them again at the Mosconi if Barry decided that going forward isn't a complete waste.......

Wedge it seems noone can answer your original question. So in essence you have your answer.

Wedge asked the wrong question. It should have been, ask not what Buddy Hall can do for the players, ask what the players can do for Buddy Hall.

He was herding cats.

That is correct, Johnny and I talked about it and we both wanted Buddy to have a chance to be a part of the 'Mosconi Cup' ---- in hindsight they may have been throwing Buddy to "the wolves" ;)

No matter what anyone says, Buddy Hall is the best of them All. :D

So is it safe to say nothing works for Team USA and needs a complete overhaul? Where would/should that begin?
It swwma pretty obvious the present system has serious flaws??
Two shot? I agree, but they ain't going to change that.

I'm kinda shocked over this whole Mosconi Cup. It's just a game, win or lose. Geez, give it a rest.

These folks lashing out remind me of the folks that take League like it's game seven of the World Series... relax, chill, it's not the end of the world.

Nobody here paid for their trip or sponsored them, you have no skin in the game, and it's not like anyone on earth beside pool players even know what the Mosoconi Cup is...AND now, we are going to throw legend Buddy Hall under the bus with comments like "fattening" his wallet, and other silly non sense.

He was asked to go. Big deal. Guess what, this is exactly a sport meant NOT to have coaches, it's not league, where you can call time out to get some advice on a shot.

So, if you wanna moan and groan, at least leave Buddy out of it. He had nothing to do with anyone losing, he did not do anything contrary to exactly what he was suppose to do, and he never asked to be co-captain, but the pool players decided to make a nice gesture and bring his along for the ride...that in itself was a good gesture for a HOF player...

My "team" got trounced last night on ESPN, on national TV that cost them a BCS bowl game.... yeah, I'm bummed, but what am I gonna do, start throwing them all under the bus now..... it sux, my life won't change, and the players did what they could even though they played poorly.... what'ya gonna do ???

At least very few folks in the US saw or even know about the Mosconi Cup defeat, where everyone and his brother knows what happened to my team last night :(

I have to spread it around before I give it to ChicagoRJ again.

Right on with your post.

Thank you for sharing your insights!

Count me among those who thought that Buddy's selection as co-captain was a nice gesture to one of nine-ball's all-time greats. We didn't get beat because of his inclusion on the team. We got outplayed, and as some have noted, what's so terrible about that?

The US Mosconi Cup team is just a bunch of INDIVIDUAL superstars put together under the illusion they can play as a team. They can't. That fine given the fact that USA "pro" pool is an individuals game and they have to constantly looking out for themselves. As well..

The Euro Mosconi Cup Team are individuals, but at heart are a team. That's just the way they are by nature and their up bringing. Weather they win or lose.

Pool in the US is a dog eat dog world (at least on a "pro" level). All for one and one......... for themselves. It just shows on how they conduct themselves.

Buddy Hall as great a person or player he is, cannot change that amongst the players that are actually competing (US).

I think conducting oneself like a professional and Losing (and winning) like one would be a priority......

So what were we when we beat them like a drum every year? This unified team stuff is sooooooooo overrated imo.

I'm curious... one blowout and you guys think Barry would consider ending the cup?

In the early days, USA dominated and it sparked European interest to get better. Why shouldn't it have the same effect on the Americans?

HUH !

I answered it and CJ confirmed my response was indeed correct.

Wedge then apologized if his question came across the wrong way.

Tyvm Wedge !

Prey I think your comprehention went over your head.

:yeah:

With further though I think critics AND players need to grow some character.

Lol at the trolling OP trying to start stuff on here.

I am on forums a lot and AZ billiards reflects the current situation in American pool, broken and silly.

How can you blame buddy? the guy is one of the most positive players there is, and is a great team member. but there is only so much one person can do when players are obviously under performing.

Just a thought.....8 men on the team....5 play like always.

The captain has no teeth...if a player acts up or can't make a ball...
....he's got nothing to fall back on.

This year, if the captain could have benched a player......
....he would have used ALL extra 3.

or maybe not, if the players had this threat hanging over them.

Oldzilla I think you need to read the original question again. My answer to it stands.
Wedge asked a question people jumped on here to defend Buddy but did not answer the question.

Notice my post just before yours.
What would you do as a captain when a player acts up?
You need 5 players to continue.
