Oscar Playing Well

I was at a local pool room two weeks ago and Oscar was playing well spotting a very good player the last 3 and 12 to 9 in their race. He continues to improve and maybe he should have been a member on the Mosconi Cup this year. I think he is one of our rising stars and maybe one of our best.

Why a West Coast player even allowed to enter an East Coast tournament.
 
Four dimes ain't too shabby. After expenses, he made a nice profit for sure.

I have noticed that when players find love in their heart, someone to share their life with, they excel in pool. I saw this happen with Ralf Souquet when he first met his other half. Now the same is happening with Oscar.

Naji, Oscar had to win a qualifier to even compete. All players in this tournament had won previous qualifiers. 64 to be exact.

You could have won a qualifier and played as well, sir.

I wanted my boy Deska to have won it, all qualifiers for last few months been at East coast pool halls, why would they just take a passer by, and worst being from West coast. I just do not understand it. Ok it is not my business, it is my opinion.

This is the exact platform that professional pool needs. It is good to see that it worked and that they had a full field of competitors.

Gosh, maybe there's still hope for a pro tour down the road. :cool:

Hay Matt how are you man, got action at your nick of the woods i see!! I saw Larry Kreseel!! play so bad yesterday, what happened to him, missed a one diamond shot at the 9 ball, same with Shaun Wikiee! man

All qualifiers were held on the east coast (Oct 19 Oscar won his while on the east coast)... open to all who qualify! and Congrats to Oscar... some very good players in the field (Shuff, Nevel, etc)... I am glad to see this first one worked .. I hope they keep doing it...
 
My heart dropped a tad when deska walked in at the last moment to the one qualifier I played:embarrassed2:

Good finish for him, he is a fine dude.
 
"East Coast" just means that's where the event is held. Not who is allowed to play.
Like tennis' French Open is held in France but any nationality can play.

Oscar was my pick for the event based on his recent strong US Open showing.
My 2nd guess was Mike Davis who somehow wins APT events despite 'retirement'. He's just very steady.

Deska isn't formally retired but as far as I can tell plays even less pool than Mike.
Good for him to make such a strong showing. I have him right up there with Shuff in playing skill,
but for whatever reason isn't nearly as famous. A few straight poolers know of his dad Ed,
but the son can shoot REALLY straight.

Larry Nevel went first in the Calcutta but got knocked out earlier than I'd expect.
Ditto other local favorites like Shuff and Stottlemeyer.

Awesome event and with all these qualifiers the whole region got a boost.
APT's doing great things.

I was delighted to look around and see no Oscar, nevel, davis, shuff or deska at the 9ball tourney I played in this weekend.

so much so, I won. :cool:

where's the pat on the back emoticon?

btw, those guys could have played in this one, too, if they wanted since it was also an 'open' event.

I'm guessing the $280 didn't stack up to good against their $4k, though. :o :rolleyes: ;)

no matter what, it was a great win for Oscar with some strong players. and he did play one year for team USA MC, right?

I wouldn't mind seeing him back again.

This is the worst logic I've ever heard in my life. Should players only from the US compete in the US Open? Your logic is flawed by your personal feelings for your friend's loss in the finals.

Oscar was on the last winning team for the USA . He was one of the reasons for us winning that year. He has the right type of game for that format and was/is a true gentleman that would always represent out country in a positive way, win or lose.
congratulations Oscar on your win in the east coast.

......hope he wins the MVP

Take an umbrella, Brian.....even the sunny days are overcast.

And good for Oscar....his skill and demeanor is welcome in any professional organization.
 
Larry Kressel plays great...he is human like anyone else. Danny Green was playing great as well. Oscar was just playing perfect! Deska of course played good and Wilkie. Danny Mastermaker played a great tourney as well. He put Mike Davis out. Oscar is a super nice guy and phenomenal player. I foresee continued fortune in his future.
