Okay, being an old guy gotta start out with story.

My sister got me a Roku 3 for Christmas. Thats one of the HD Plug ins for streaming Movies etc.

Couple hundred thousand movies to choose from I go to the one I have seen the most times, "The Hustler".

Now to put the thinking caps on. It was 1961, figure the book was written a couple of years prior. Fast Eddie had the Fatman hooked for his initial 10 Grand all but right off the gate (12 hours)

The Next Match up Fast Eddie went for his only 3 (?) or 4 Grand.

Keeping in mind gas was around .19 cent a gal and you could probably buy 2 caddies for 4K back then, how much were they playing for in todays money? :smile:
 
Did it show them putting up the loot? I can't remember that far back. :)

If it didn't show the money, knowing pool players, one of them may have been shooting an "air barrel".

Oh yeah, initial stake money then paid by the game. Money holder was Willie Mosconi.

if my memory serves correct fast eddie was up 18k right before going on his big losing streak so i would have to say they had up around ~20k-22k between Bert and Charlie probably somewhere to the tune of around 180k-200k today. just a guesstimate

1959 Caddys sols new for 6k-8k. I bought one in late 61 for $4000 cash that was loaded with low miles on it. Owner took the pipe in his garage in it. johnnyt

That was one of the best versions of Bad To The Bone I have heard, gonna download it. Loved the video as well.

Yes, Charlie kept his winnings and if you recall before that Fast Eddie reached in his pocket before leaving and left Charlie with almost every dime he had while Charlie slept.
