TAR 38 Results

Celtic I'm like you when I watch a match and the person describes every shot when there are 4 balls hanging in the pocket it makes me crazy. There's not much to describe when it is "shoot and stop". In the one-pocket match there were no stories being told because there were lots of interesting comments to make. And there was no whining going on either to talk about.

Tar 38

Just want to post another positive opinion.... I didn't get to see any of the 10 ball yesterday but watched most of it during replay today. I really enjoyed the commentary for what I saw of the entire event. I thought they did an exceptional job on Friday with the one pocket. It was nice to hear folks with experience explain the layout. For me, one pocket is the hardest to watch and both players were definitely off on Fri so it was it was good to have the commentary.

I always enjoy the TAR matches and can't wait to buy the next one.

Thanks.

I feel this getting blown up now ..

Don't sweat it bobby yes the rooms so quite so can hear u guys taking but it didn't affect me at all.. I probably deserved the criticism .

I prob over stepped the mark with my whispering/ mumbling about what I should've done or didn't do during the game. Or rolls but most of all swearing that's out of order and I sorry for the bad language it's unprofessional of me and should know better .. Coz am mumbling I sometimes forget it comes thru to the viewers and u guys..so once again I opologize to u and jay and all the viewers for my behaviour that come thru onto the feed and of course Justin .

But if no mic on me Nobody would ever know what I was saying or mumbling. and this wouldve never started. Dennis never heard me , he was never sharked once in 3days.

I actually happy way I played for most part . And if wasn't for missing a ball I wouldn't ever miss again in my lifetime I win the match. But that's sport and drama I got punished for not shutting the door ..

But it gone now we all friends lets keep it that way..

Everyone entitled to opinions and that's what makes the world go round . If we all the same the world would be boring .. The game needs characters and emotion and I think I fit into that bracket but sometimes I guess I let my emotion get the better of me .. If everyone like robots like Dennis wu ko pin yi Chang and most Asian players esp it be boring to watch not saying that bad just good to have some characters long as play fairly. Which I do.

One thing I do know I never cheated at pool or sharked anyone .. And if I foul I the first to call it no matter what.. I play hard but I play fair and by the rules . And never do anything to my knowledge against my opponents. Ever.
Not many people in this game can say the same maybe a handfull. I been getting sharked and cheated my whole life playing this game .. But that's the game we play and without referees every match it will continue .sadly

Anyway it done now its in the books learn from it and move on .

Least be good for ppl to look back on and watch and good sales for tar DVD so am sure positives will come from it .

Thanks for everyone's support keep up the good work .. And keep supporting tar they need it and deserve it.

FACT: There is one of these threads after every single TAR match. Its just the way it is. People *****ing about the players and commentators and jcin coming to the rescue. It'll pass like these all do. Hope no one takes these too personally as everyone did a great job. Thanks to TAR, Dennis, Darren, Jay, and Bobby. xoxoxo

thank you

Thanks for the entertainment. Got to watch some awesome pool and you are a class act. It was a great weekend of pool. Can't wait to see who is next??????

My opinion on this is that Darren sounded much louder then he actually was because of the mic. I heard all he said crystal clear because of the mic as did the commentators so I think we all assumed that Dennis could hear it but obviously that was not the case so no real harm done there. As for Bobby and Jay, I have enjoyed both of them at times but not together. I really like Bobby commentating with Jeremy Jones who I think is the best in the biz, they go back and forth well.

I could hear Bobby the whole time loud and clear but Jays mic seemed really low or the mic was too far from his mouth maybe. I feel the commentators comments were not out of line as they assumed like I think most viewers did that Dennis could hear Darren which we know now was not likely. Jay is friends with Dennis as we all know and his commentary was neutral. As far as the rolls I would say they were pretty equal in the 10 ball but the big thing was the break, Dennis could not buy a ball on the break and did little to change his break up either which I found foolish.

Glad to see a true professional as an AZ Gold member and contributing to the forum. Thanks!!!

Darren you are one of my favorite players and people. I apologize if we sharked you. You played great the entire match and ran out from the tougher situations. I know you would never shark any one because you're a good guy. I think you only missed 2 balls in the whole match which is amazing ! I hope you do well at the derby and I'm sure you will. your friend Robert

One thing I was impressed with was Darren's 10 ball break. It looks like he's been practicing it for sure. There were several breaks where ge made 2 or 3 balls. Much better than how he broke when he played Shane on TAR from what I remember. If he would have got some looks at the one after some if those breaks the match may have been a runaway.

Daz, while we on the subject.....

Remember back when you were a league player and played Jason Kirkwood in the finals of the men's BCA Grand Master Event in Vega$. The cheering and singing behind you whenever Kirkwood would make a mistake or you ran out was like an English soccer match. I've never seen anything like it before or after in pool. It was certainly different. What do you think an atmosphere like that for pool? Good or bad? Should it be quiet like church or loud like a soccer game?

I obviously a Daz fan as I support all of the Uk guys over here as we are a minority and liek to see my fellow Brits do well but I was stunned at Jay especially I never heard of the guy cotton before but jay usually has great posts on here which I enjoye reading but for him to be so biased and unprofessional was amazing to me. Once they listen to it back they will cringe.
Overall great package I loved the 8 ball I like to see the players break n run but struggle to do so unlike 9 ball when it is robotic and the patterns are the same.
Leave the platers mic'd up its great to hear the players this is nothing like mosconi when you live on sky sports, people watching this paid for it so know what to expect. Hope Jay has a look at himself and gives Daz a big apology, to question his sportsmanship is a disgrace especailly when he houses Dennis who lets be honest if you were at the US open or saw his antics against Melrose in an action match, his sportsmanship has came under scrutiny many a time.

Thanks for all your responses Darren and I think your one of the good guys. Maybe you could answer a question that gets tossed around on here. Does gambling make you a better player? When would you say you feel the most pressure, gambling, tournaments or TAR challenges? What do you find that has helped you handle pressure the most? Thanks

Ok my two cents for better or worse. Number one, I enjoy working with Bobby. He is easy to work with and he is a good analyst of pool. A few times perhaps we both got a little excited and talked to loud, and that can happen when you are so close to the table. I don't think we ever really bothered either player and only one time did Darren ever say anything. I made a conscious effort to remain subdued, and maybe that's why my voice sounded quiet on the mic sometimes.

Maybe I did over react to Darren's running dialogue, that was laced with profanity. I found it offensive and demeaning, especially for a great player like Darren. I have worked previously on many of his matches (where he was miked) and never heard anything like that from him before. I apologize to Darren for calling him unprofessional, but that was how I felt at the time. It was embarassing for me to know that many people were hearing the same thing, and that it continued non stop for hours. I have a feeling Darren will also be embarrassed if he ever watches the tape of this match. It doesn't matter to me whether Dennis heard it or not, although later he told me he could hear Darren talking but didn't know what he was saying. Dennis is good at blocking out distractions.

I'm a avid admirer of the game of pool and the great players who play it, and I believe there should be respect for the game and that's my opinion. I also believe that a negative attitude will definitely work against a player in the long run, and it just so happened that's what occured here. Contrary to what has been posted on here, I did not favor either player to win during the course of my commentary. Whoever said that was not paying attention. I pride myself on not playing favorites. I want the better man to win, plain and simple. Yes, Dennis is my friend and so is Darren. I hope that Darren learns from this experience.

As for Bobby and I chatting and telling old pool war stories, it is a lonnngg day during these TAR matches and five or six hours of straight commentary can get very old. Many people seem to enjoy hearing about old time hustlers and interesting pool characters. For the most part all we have is an oral history of the game and it's players, and my intention is to continue that, so all of you will know a little more about who they were.

I will always do my best to convey what's happening during the course of a match, and try to make it entertaining at the same time. I truly enjoy what Justin does with TAR. He is amassing a great library of top flight matches, only rivaled by the Accu-Stats collection. I did mention several times that you can go to theactionreport.com to download any of these matches for your viewing pleasure. Justin is a good man taking on a very difficult task in putting all these terrific matches together. There was some great pool played this past weekend by both players and I'm glad I was there to see it.

Dennis showed huge heart in coming back from 29-25 when it looked like he was finished. I give him huge accolades for his tremendous come back, with every shot made under palpable pressure. He proved once again why he so well respected by his peers as a player and a man. He damn sure has my respect!

Good review Lenny...That was definately worth every bit of $40. 3 days of awesome pool. I kind of mutter to myself when I play also:-). That mic on him wasn't helpful..I thought they both played really great. It's got to be extremely difficult to keep your concentration for so many hours. They both shot over .900 which is really good..Jeremy Jones was a master in the booth on the one pocket matches. He was explaining the right shot everytime. It's like free lessons when he commentates 1 pkt!! I thought this whole 3 days was just amazing and I don't think Darren should get down on himself. I really liked what he had to say on here and he is a great player and great guy. Jay Helfert and Cotton did a great job on describing the match and I will look forward to TARs next challenge match!! Thanks Justin and TAR for another EPIC show:thumbup:

I didn't see the match, so can't comment on this specific case, but in general I'm going to go ahead and disagree here. I really enjoy your commentary, Jay, but it's usually pretty easy to tell you you're rooting for.

Usually, that's absolutely fine, as for me you never overstep the mark into outright bias. Some people feel like you did this time. Like I said, I didn't see this match so can't comment on it specifically.

to those of you whose weekend was ruined by tar's egregious actions i would recommend buying insidepool's next ppv! i am sure it will go off without a hitch and the commentary will be much much better and in the unlikelyhood of any issues arising i'm sure their customer service will be spot on
