Weight needed for C-player against pro

I'm a "C" player. I sparred with CJ Wiley for several hours over a few days at The 2013 Southern Classic in Tunica.

At one point, after CJ got in stroke, I realized that the only weight that would suffice in helping me win....would be me hitting him in the head with said weight. I'd say a 20 lb. one would work.

The difference in skill level was truly sobering.

Whatever spot you decide on, be prepared to lose whatever you're betting. Then work on slight adjustments to that spot for the next time.

You're more like a "B" player....I see what you're doing, playing position to get the "Call 7 Safe" next time.....tricky....very, very, tricky. ;)

cmon cj
tell us yout honest opinion
a pro vs a C player really has no chance
unless the spot is really rediculous

There is always a spot you can win.

lets be real
a c cant run out
the pro will either/or safe him to death or run out
even with the 2-9 wild the pro wont let him get a shot
on a dry break the C might win
ive played pros in my younger days when i thought i was a b but really was a c
fortunately im a quick learner...:)
you cant win
thats my story and im sticking to it

I have to agree. The best pros in the world are known for giving up the nuts gambling and running them out. That's what separates the pros from the rest of us.

... What do you all think a typical C would need?
I'm not sure but I'm with sjm -- get games on the wire. You go to two and the champ goes to ten. No other spot. Winner breaks. For every $1000 one of you is ahead, his number moves by one. You will find the right spot.

Might take rack your own too, to win.

If pro racks...you gotta check rack. And hope you know what to look for.

Pro can check your rack, but not touch or adjust.

Play an occasional lock up safe...might get there.

I think nerves against the Pro may be your biggest issue.

Anyone think SVB or Orcullio would give this up? Without knowing C- player speed for sure?

I watched Steve McAnnich give a B player the 5 out in 9 ball and win easily. I don't know if was considered pro caliber but he ran out most of the time. I think you need a lot of games on the wire or take the break away from the pro. The only pro player in MN was Jimmy Wetch and he would never give up the break.

I"ve had this conversation with many high level players and they all agree.

I just love how some of you say you'll take the 5 from a pro and can win... You're certainly not a C player if that's the case.

Shane just gave Corey Deuel the 5 & 6 and beat him. I watched Jayson Shaw give Frankie Hernadez the 5ball and break even. Imagine what they could give you.

Ball spots mean almost NOTHING at high levels of play. Corey would be much better off getting games on the wire than ball spots.

Corey will get out once he gets to the five in 90+% of the racks he gets a shot on the five.

I appreciate the compliment, CJ.

I probably played some of the very worst rotation pool of my life with you in Tunica, relative to my baseline skill level at any given time, but I don't get whole lot better than that. Maybe a ball better on a consistent basis. Of course, anyone can have a great day and shoot a couple of balls better, but I prefer to talk about someone's consistent level of play.

I've played other pro's and road players before.....but, not gambling. Just playing in a tourney or for fun. But, I have to admit, playing CJ had me rattled. Which, that in itself goes to show that a Joe Average guy like me would get the shakes with the money on the line. Every individual is different of course.

However, I can't imagine a scenario where someone is a consistent "C" level player, day in and day out......then suddenly becomes a B+, simply because cash is on the line. If that happens, then they were probably a B+ player to begin with, which makes the point moot.

Tell you what, CJ.....the next time I see you, will you spot me:

Wild 5-and-out
All the breaks
Ball-in-hand after the breaks
Wild money balls count on the break
You have to bank the 9B to win

We could discuss the stakes later. What do you say?

I talked Usain Bolt into racing me tomorrow. He's going to spot me 50 meters in a 100-meter race. Boy will I feel great when I win.

need it

I guess I am about a D player. That guy might really need the weight.

I lost with the 5,7 and the break playing Chip and Joey alternating games on a GC with buckets. lost by 22 games in a couple hours.

I beat a pro and his girlfriend as they played Scotch on aa BB getting the out of rotation game. didn't have to though. Prob would have lost if he played by himself.

Consistently lose getting 18-4 from a couple champs. And 1 hole is my best game.

I recently had a discussion w/ a pro about what kind of weight I would need...

The better and the more experienced player will always win. No matter what spot. I have had a rather long journey to realize this.

...but to be honest, I only wanted to chime in this thread to say that you have chosen a great username, MisspentYouth. Cheers.
