Rodney shows up in Reno

Rodney has a right to say and do what he wants within reason. Mark has a right to have only players at his tournaments that he wants...case closed. Johnnyt

Apparently they recovered this videotape of the incident.

Anybody notice how grungy the sidewalk looks in this video?
No wonder Singapore metes out corporal punishment for dropping gum
on a sidewalk.
Turn any chair upside down in a public establishment....wads of gum underneath. :barf:

I predict that this perpetrator will make legal history by beating the rap...
...on 'the king's new clothes' defense.

it's a shame

If more people who run tournaments had some balls, then Rodney would only have Charlie's events to play in.

Rodney shit all over the big joss event when he was there two or three years ago. He told people before a match that he would never be back.

He has also shit all over Behrman on facebook. Typed that he would never play the US Open again, as long as Behrman was running it. He posted that last year before he played in the US Open again.

If more tournaments would call him on his bs, he might start paying attention.

Count me as one of Rodney's longtime fans; I first saw him play at Hawaiian Brian's place in Oahu when I was vacationing there many years ago. I just marveled at the ease with which he played the game. ...
I don't know him personally, but he always seemed to be a nice guy with that nice Hawaiian "Aloha" spirit, but if what I read above is true, I think it's sad that, for a guy whose livelihood is pool, is so arrogant that he can't see that he is burning bridges where a major part of his income could be coming from. It just doesn't make sense to me. I have had many employers in my working life that I did not like, but darn it, they sign the checks, so if I like eating and having the things I want in life, I would just bite the bullet (and my tongue) and continue working until I find a better alternative or job.

I also think he's basically a good guy who has made some questionable decisions (like all of us). All of this is exaggerated. OK, so he's in a pissing match with Mark and AZ Billiards gets sucked into it and probably makes it worse.

In our culture, I see people ripping the President and politicians so disrespectfully. To me it's part of our way of life - to take pot shots at the bosses and politicians and companies. I guess some people think they can say whatever they want.

Well, in this case, the authority figure just fired right back - probably unexpectedly, and Rodney is the loser in this match-up.

I would like to see them have a sit down and end this. Life is too short to hold grudges. The first choice to me is people need to communicate and make an effort to come to an understanding. It's hard for Mark to see Rodney's point of view - and vice versa - because they are in entirely different shoes.

So you've never pissed anyone off? Not even to your wife? Not made a faux pas in social gatherings? Not upset any of your employers, classmates, kids, bowling buddies etc? There are 5 guys in the pool room that don't speak to me. Im sorry for that but that's life. It happens.
Why people so self righteous to a guy who is not your ordinary joe but a world, at least a national Champion. He has always been a class act as far as Ive seen. Always been kind and supportive in social situations as Ive seen it. I know people bug him at wrong times when he is trying to focus. People are always glad handing him when he is a winner. But now when he is down people all willing to step on him.
It is what it is. For a promoter to take it all away for his human errors fine. But don't come on here acting like you did a service to humanity.

5 guys in the pool room won't speak to you? You must be some kind of extra special. Carry on

a bit different

Don't know what you're getting on my case for, but, shit yes, I have pissed people off.....the point here is that I tread lightly where my livelihood is concerned; (some people might put it as, "I don't shit where I eat.") ..... I had thought that he just did this one mistake by speaking out the way he did after winning $15,000 at MG's tournament...but the post I referred to and read posted that he had done this kind of thing before....I am not stepping on him. I am hoping that he can swallow his pride or whatever and apologize and make peace with
MG and all those who can help his career.

Now you're reaching.

I do piss people off from time to time, and the professional, and personable thing to do is make piece.

You're obviously a Rodney fan. So am I. bottom line, he screwed the pooch big time here. That means he pays the price big time. It's no more and no less. If you can't pick up on that, you need to take a look around the world and learn how things work.

Rodney is actually lucky the pro-pool world doesn't have it's shit together better. If all the promoters, and parties played nice, he'd pry be SOL on all fronts.

Here's to hoping Rodney can find a way to make it right. The pro-pool world could use another all star back in the mix.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

And Rodney is the winner.

I don't know Rodney personally other than saying hello a few times. I like how he comports himself, usually. I know at one point he invited a euro or two outside during some jawing at a MC match. I chalked that one up to the heat of competition.

So many analogies, so little time.

You throw a big 4th of July extravaganza party at your home every year and someone who has regularly attended that party posts some inflammatory and disrespectful comments about you on social media, and you catch wind of it.

You make the decision that this person is no longer welcome to attend any more of your big Independence Day parties. That's your right, right?

Can anyone who is troubled by Mark Griffin's decision to exclude Rodney from future CSI events please tell me what is different about that decision compared with the 4th of July analogy I am providing (except maybe the time of year ;) )

I can sympathize with Rodney on one point, which is:

It isn't easy being a pro pool player these days, tough to get by, I know it can be very frustrating.

Even more reason, imo, to be very careful not to do anything that might alienate you from one of the few guys who makes earning a nice paycheck possible.

best,
brian kc <---- don't disrespect me on social media or you ain't coming to my arbor day jollification.

Yeah but what Rodney did was not quite the same.

Imagine someone went to mcdonald's, ordered their meal, they were well-behaved
and didn't piss off anyone. They played the Monopoly promotion McDonald's offers,
and won big, and were really happy and excited. All the other customers saw this
and enjoyed their experience.

Later, the guy posts on facebook that the service was slow and the manager
is an ass for charging him 50 cents to get extra sauce with his mcnuggets.

Nobody arrests him for it.
That mcdonald's doesn't ban him for it, even if the manager saw his comment.
And sure as shit he isn't banned from ALL mcdonald's, indefinitely.

They let the customer come back and order,
because that's how a professional organization handles criticism.

Replace McDonalds with Harley's Cafe. Guy goes on the internet and says the food at Harley's is garbage, Harley charges too much and the portions are too small.

Harley doesn't have the same profit margin as McDonalds. I have a feeling Harley would ban the guy.

Pool tournaments don't have much of a profit margin. Players would be well advised to keep that in mind when discussing the tournament and the director in public.
