Rodney shows up in Reno

Rodney has no shot at the MC without playing in any CSI events this yr.

Thats an automatic 10K just for participating.

Update:

My forensic experts have reported back but so far they don't have any new information about what really happened. I can tell you that no semen was found at the scene and 4 person's of interest are being detained in the craps pit.

If your people can't find semen at a Reno hotel/casino you need new people lol

But is Harley's choice a business decision, or did the guy just piss him off?

CSI apparently has no profit margin at all, so this isn't a business decision.
It's just one guy blackballing someone from half the decent tournaments in the USA,
because his sense of pride is wounded.

That doesn't strike me as fair and professional.
Yes, he has the power to do it,
Yes, Rodney shoulda seen it coming.
But that doesn't mean it's right.

Over 50% of Rodney's earnings last year were from CSI events.
What if Harley could cut your paycheck in half over a single Facebook post?

creedo;

based upon what the responses have been in this very long thread, you are in the distinct minority with your opinion that Mark banning (not blackballing, btw) Rodney from CSI events was unfair.

you say it was wrong but you have provided no specific reason why - just that it's wrong.

imo, Rodney is a grown man and has to understand that there may be consequences tied to his bad behavior.

Mark is well within his rights to exclude someone from his events for disrespecting him publicly and, frankly, I would have done the exact same thing.

Behavior like that needs to be nipped in the bud, imo, so as to send the clear message that:

You don't get to act like a dick toward me *and" have the chance to come win my money at CSI events, so you choose, which will it be.

best,

I agree with most of what you've posted, KC.....EXCEPT.....
..Mark can't 'ban' Rodney....he can only 'bar' him.

You can ban actions, you can bar people.
No wonder you pool players end up on the wrong side of the table....
...you're using the wrong english.
:)

It's only logical, given that both parties have reached an impasse, to defer to arbitration.

Of course this is only possible if both parties are sincere in coming to an agreement defining how they can both interact together going forward.

The lack of any attempt to reach a binding agreement by one or both parties is fostering self evident prejudice.

I don't even want to get into the secret Black Balled McCarthy list ... This is really opening a can of worms.

I made the statement earlier in this thread that at times, when your emotions are running full tilt, it's best to take a deep breath and clear your head to be able to act in your own best interest.

And that goes for both parties involved in the matter.

CreeDo, is stating an old adage in law, that the punishment must fit the crime.

In this instance there was no crime .. Just childish behavior and lack of respect.

I say it's time to grow up, man up, get together, and do the right thing - for everyone involved.

Peace and good luck to all.

Mark/CSI did both, barred him (person), and banned him for his action of showing up.....

After the most recent MC, you think he would have had a shot even if he won all of the CSI events?

Are you saying we are on the wrong side of the border? Just wait till I see you in April. I'll show you what barring means :grin-square: !!!!

I will then suggest that you go on a foul-mouthed tirade aimed at Mr. Wilson, then give it an hour or two, and see what it says just under your name. :D

Iit appears az may be using the wrong lingo, too. ;)

From Webster

1ban verb \ˈban\
: to forbid people from using (something) : to say that something cannot be used or done

: to forbid (someone) from doing or being part of something

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ban

"you're using the wrong english" is not among the best sentences i have ever read either :)

Then I was an idiot to trash Harley on the internet if I'm an employee of his. What employer lets their employees trash them and their business?

So now it's unfair and unprofessional to hold someone accountable to the written rules provided to him when he acts unfairly and unprofessional. What an upside down world we live in today.

When I used to subcontract out my work expertise to other construction contractors, if I wasn't professional on one job, they wouldn't just kick me off that job. I could also kiss any future work from them goodbye. That's the way things work.

And, while most of the talk on here is about his facebook post, I'd be willing to bet that there is a lot more to it than that. He was barred before his rants, so that should tell you something right there.

Porn.

Kitchen sink.

That about covers it.

Oh..and one other thing.
It truly is a sign of the times when what is wrong, is considered right. And what is right, is considered wrong.

Most employers could (and would) cut your paycheck in full over a single Facebook post.

Now there's obviously the point that CSI weren't exactly Rodney's direct employer, but they were still the company putting cash in his pocket. I don't see the controversy here, to be honest.

I have informed Mr Wilson....other than that, we get along just fine.

In history the owners, bosses, and employers always want the underlings, hired help, and employees to be obedient, quiet, head bowed, and appreciative. They are mystified why these hirelings complain and fight for improvements when their very existence depends on the patron.
Rodney comes from a tradition of coffee, sugar cane, pineapple, plantation life. The only industry until tourism that permeated the Hawaiian economy. We, Hawaiians, always fought for what we wanted. Many lost, many ended up as outcasts, but we never gave up because we fought for what we believe was right.
Now I don't say we always did it the right way but this is our culture. Coming out of indentured labor. So if anything Im not a friend of Rodneys but I understand him and am in solidarity with him.
Now I also believe that Mark Griffin has been great for pool. He of all people is working hard for the player as well as the fans.
Both are very important to the development of the business. One a great business man and the other a great talent.
I hope that both can come together and resolve the issues. Quietly discuss how they can work with each other.and solve the contradictions. It would only be good for pool in general.
I hope that Rodney can show some remorse for his behavior. Its not like we should be astonished that a pool player can act in a temperamental way. Look around you the next Derby you go to. We don't have enough referees. And I hope that Mark can show it in his heart for forgiveness. I know he is capable of it.
We as the fans should not be so quick to judge. We should not be so quick to expect a punishment for a situation we have never encountered unless we live in that professional world. Let those who have never sinned be the first to throw the stone.

I don't care what your culture us. Almost every hawaiian I have met treats people with respect. If you want respect you must give it. Rodney chose not to do that and got treated as he should have. Making excuses is just sad.
