160K Stakehorse Challenge!

The 25% that is paid to the player comes off the top so for first place:

25,000 - Player
75,000 - Stakehorses

45,000 - Main Stakehorse
30,000 - Random Stakehorse

For 2nd Place:

15,000 - Player
45,000 - Stakehorses

27,000 - Main Stakehorse
18,000 - Random Stakehorse

The part I don't really understand, is why big $$ stakehorses are willing to put up so much to win so little. First is the only one that really wins much. The chances of one person getting 1st and 2nd is not that great.

also, why would someone want a random #2 player?

If someone is forking out near 20K, they want full control over who all they stake.

It stirs the pot and creates action... I would say many of the backers will have action on the rail as well... 20k is just the cover charge =) I'd say more than that will be on the hip.....

I really hope it comes off; but this is what I was thinking too........
$20K is a lot to put up, especially when SVB is already taken.......

To me, 10K is a lot more doable. But hey, that's just my opinion, what do I know?

I agree, but if there aren't 8 stakehorses across this globe that will put up just 20k anymore, pool is in a lot worse shape than I thought it was.

Do we have 8 horses that could make a match out of this??

SVB, Orcollo, Biado, Wu, Appleton,........who else. Help me out here guys.

Alex Dennis O Corey Shane Rodney Efren Busta Appleton Thorsten Johnny Oscar Earl Mika Kiamco Biado Dechaine Shaw Morra Stevie Parica Wu Hatch Shuff Niels Corteza Ralph and a few more I'm sure.

Not trying to bust your balls John, I really want to see you pull this off and I realize many aren't familiar with AR yet but if we made a list of our top 8 potential for 10B and a top 8 list for American Rotation and think which field would be easier to fill?
10B for 20k
Shane is in
Dennis O
Earl
Alex
Busty
Johnny
Wu
Niels
Darren
Rodney
And I'm not sure who else for 20k and who's backer is really going to like their end?

AR for same 20k
Efren
Earl
Busty
Alex
Shane
Rodney
Wu
Corey
Oscar
Mika
Biado
Johnny
Ralph
Appleton

Might all be able to get staked. Add Parica cuz he'll get love from old time money and I think most backers would be happier going in?

Or just put the word out now for 10B and see if we get 8? Who wants to put a player in for 20K or at least who thinks they could get staked.

I've always said that no matter how you feel about gambling and pool, it is the only thing I can see that will save pool for the top players and fans. IMO thjs can help pool in a big way if promoted right. Things like this and legalizing online gambling on pool events. Good luck with the "Stakehorses Race To 9.". Johnnyt

2015 will be the first time I attend the DCC. I have never been to any major pool event. I have been reading everything on AZ for over a year now and it sounds like an absolute blast. Ideas used at the DCC, like the one in this thread, are genius. If pool is to grow as a sport then these guys are front and center propelling the industry forward. Smart MF'ers, they are....I can hardly wait to book my room. Im already excited about next year. This is how you create a buzz and get people interested!

Loving all this!!!! Wish I could $takehorse! haha

I love this idea, the only problem is that nobody in the world is going to put up $20K against SVB in 10-ball, nobody. All of the overseas idiots can say what they want about him not being a world champion, etc., etc..but when it all comes down to it all of these other so called champions know they can't get there.

Not to say that some of them wouldn't play on someone elses money, but I don't think you'll find 7 other people willing to put up $20K when they know they are swimming uphill, imo.

When I reread the OP and saw John insists on getting SVB for the same 20k as the others, I don't think it will fly that way. Johnnyt

True. You would have to make this a bartable tourny With an element of luck involved. Shorter races? Svb would still be the fav but may draw more

my 8

SVB
Orcullo
Wu
Pin Yi Ko
Appleton
Pagulayan
Hohmann
Bustamante

Above are my 8 players in no particular order that I would love to see play in this type of format. I think either SVB or Ko would win.

I posted this on fb... Fair to me ???

I like the idea of 16 players & 16 stakers then blind draw. Stakers draw out of the stakers bag. But only 8 stakers can move on. To draw use 5 objects that are same size, same feel. Say 2 are Green & 3 are Red. Stakehorse draws Green he/she is IN, Red you're OUT! Once they draw they go to next draw "The Player". 16 players but only 8 can get picked. To keep it random. Stakehorse 1 & 8 , 2 & 7 , 3 & 6 , 4 & 5 are paired together for the chance to win $$ off each other's player. Now here's where more $$ can come in. Let's say after all draws are pulled. If the 2 stakehorses paired up… I.E 2 & 7 want to redraw the players (both have to agree thou) then both stakers have to put the players back in the draw & they have to put up $5k ($2,500/each). Then they can redraw. 1 redraw allowed. This would keep it random & very fair. I would say single elmin best 2 out of 3 sets. Race to 7 alt break. If tie 1-1 then tiebreaker Race 9 alt break. Finals would be Race 9 alt break tiebreaker Race 13 alt break. NO Ball in hand. Player has op to give shot back to player that fouls.

I'd like to know how many stakehorses say/said that they will get in for 20k if they can have SVB, and if they can't have him, there not getting in. Keep it 20k and John gets SVB and you won't hear too much more about this event. 10K each...maybe. Johnnyt
