My HORRIBLE DIAMOND install!!

They would have put right back on the truck. Chances are they were a cheap contractor Diamond hired. NOBODY comes into my home and talks to me that way! You might not have gotten your table right away but there are other options. Screw them!

So yesterday I get the call....

My Diamond Pro-Am will be to my house at 7:30 p.m. I patiently await till I see the truck come down the road.

I want to tell you in advance that the room the table is going in is sufficient for the table.

The installers brought the table into the room and The FIRST of requests was that they measure from the wall to the edge of the table and make sure it is square and has enough room to shoot. I would think table installers would know how much room on each side of the table you need. The installer RICK then started with the attitude. " I'm NOT moving this table over and over". I thought it was his job to move the table. He said just run your stick around the table. That's not what I wanted. This guy Rick got very loud, argumentative, and was cursing at me.

I also want to note that my 67 year old mother was in the room as this guy was carrying on.

My SECOND Request was that they level the table. This was not done correctly. I could hear the two guys when they put the level on it say that's Good Enough.. WOW!! To any pool player you know if its not level its not good enough.

1. Did not take the time to install the table properly.
2. Did not level the table.
3. Did get what I was suppose to get. They said Cyclops Balls, I got Aramith. NOT A BIG DEAL.

What do you Az'ers think I should do? And how I should handle this?

When you say it wasn't installed properly, what is wrong? Are the rails off? Is the felt loose? What isn't right?

Also, when you say they didn't level it, does it actually have a roll? Importantly, is it actually level and does the table play right? I get that they sid "good enough" - but with a machinists level, good enough is actually pretty good.

Lastly, when things started to look like they were going bad, you can alway just turn your phone's camera on.

IMO, publicly scolding shouldn't be the first course of action. But that's just me.

I think that was Rick from the A-Team that contracts for Diamond. They posted in the Mechanic Forum letting people know they would be in different areas if they need work done. I could be wrong but I know there is a Rick in that group.

the thing with Diamond, although their tables are awesome they have the worst install network and customer service, it's a very ghetto operation

having said that, the competitiors are not much better

That was my first thought too. Sounds like the A team is back in town.

Really A FEW EXTRA BUCKS!!!
I spent over $5000 bucks it should have been done right!

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I hope everthing will work out for you.

I'm a super anal person and a perfectionist, and I know not many other people are. Therefore I measured my room super carefully and put masking tape on the floor exactly where the 50x100 perimeter of the table playing surface goes. I was not going to leave it up to an installer who may not care where the table goes *exactly* like I wanted it.

Maybe you can still mark the floor exactly where you want the table, so that if they come back, they can center the table frame inside your tape outline.

I'm not public scolding as you say. I'm giving information to the next buyer. No one told me to be prepared for something like this. I was expecting a smooth install with professional customer service. Not a bunch of half wits that think if you put 4 bolts in the legs of a table that's a install.

And No the table is not where it needs to be and its not level. With a 22 point leveling system it shouldn't roll off ANY

I would have not put up with their bullshit. I would have asked them to leave even before they were done with the installation if they were being that rude especially if they directed it to my mom. I would have been on the phone with Diamond immediately. I am sorry to hear this happened to you. When your paying a good price for high quality product, I would expect the people to be high quality and professional about their work. Extremely unacceptable.

They used machinist levels for literally like 3 minute's.

3-minutes is quite a while.
Back in 1970 when I was a hippie carpenter building apartment buildings, we only gave it 5 or 6 seconds with the level.... "close enough, nail it"

Forget the table, the fact that they were disrespectful to your mother is unacceptable.

I can't imagine Diamond not making this right. Aside from that, I would have told them to just take it and leave if they didn't want to do it right. Any cussing, or other static they gave me would have just expedited the request to leave and take the table with them. Business is business. You paid for something...installed properly and if they don't want to provide the service you purchased, take it and leave. Again though, I can't imagine Diamond not correcting this.

Expect what you tolerate.
Disrespect my mother,,, he would have been leveled real quick, perfectly flat

oh yeah. If I ever get my own table *nobody* leaves without it being set up *perfect.*

Lou Figueroa

I might be willing to take that bet. From what I understand perfect for you is an almost impossible task.

At least according to one installer who knows you well.

That guy happens also to be a better player than you. In my opinion of course.

I might give up odds that the installers leave your house before you are satisfied.

Just teasing you Lou don't get crazy. You are known for being a stickler about tables.

The customer really is not in a power position here. He waited probably months for the table, and finally his "lucky" day arrived. The installers were "not nice" according to the customer. What's a customer to do, with a prized possession he paid over 5k for sitting in his living room that weighs over 1000 lbs. This isn't a phone you can return in 30 days no questions asked. This is a huge deal.

I think it's best to call Diamond directly and explain your dissatisfaction with the service, and the installation. Ask for another crew to come, or perhaps a local quality mechanic Diamond can pay to rectify the situation.

This is a horrible spot to be in. I feel for you.
