1p- what's the shot? I am stumped

You can lose fast or slow, or you can take one 40% shot at reversing the game. If you succeed you instill a little fear. If you fail, you get to the next rack sooner.

This is my shot (gotta hit this one firm, so that you either get a ball over to your side or at least open up a banking lane):

I'm declaring myself the judge of this 1-hole problem...
...and I'm awarding Cory first prize.

This is an Efren solution, off the 2-ball, carom the 5-ball in...
..with a little right hand english.
..the 8-ball may get the 9-ball outta there also (or making it is good too)

I've seen Efren run 8 and out from this spot, way back when he was a
rookie and reinventing one-pocket.

good shot Lenny thats your best option i think,i was going to say bank the 11 to your side and leave it there, but that would be harder and now the 11 is a blocker too...good shot

I would roll off right side of the 11 and try to put my opponent downtable on the rail by the two pieces of chalk. All they would have is the 13-9 combo which is risky for them, or a difficult safe.

(I also don't play one pocket)

Too me

To me, taking the intentional foul only buys time. What if your opponent intentional fouls and puts you back? You do this twice and you're on two, now what? (still learning myself). I probably would shoot the 5 off the 6, making the 9, and bringing the cue ball 2 rails out of my pocket side and bringing the cue ball to the 'intentional foul' position/area. With a power shot like this, you might send balls to your side and 'flip' the break on your opponent or you might sleep in the street (lol). I think getting out of anyone's break like this is no picnic. Patience is the key here.

Power One Pocket by WUTANG (coughs) i'm mean Scott Frost...lol :d

lenny has the right shot. Another shot is to kick off the top rail str8 at the 14 ball with a little bit of speed. If you make the 9 ball, fine. you're in a bad spot. good luck...lol

This is the old parting of the Red Sea shot. I think you might be able to make the 9 by shooting through the 3. The 3 caroms the path open, and the cue continues on to make the 9.

3 to the 10 with a touch of inside and mebbe a touch of top so I can ram into the 4 and leave the CB weird behind the 1 or frozen to it. this will send the 10 toward my pocket and give me a chance to shoot again unless you are playing a wizard.

You guys rock...a friggin smorgass bored of replies!

I tried to shoot the 3 off the 10 and stick cb on the 4. The three was directed to carom into the 8 and move some nuggets to my side.

cb trickled forward though and I left a shot. Good news is that I was playing with myself:eek: and ran 8 out from there.

It was a damn good break, I wish I broke like that more often.

An for le record: I choose Lenny's shot next time. Super simple and executable 90%, IMO. Especially on my own table.

Thanks again.
:bow-down:
i guess this would be a good time for some semblance of jump shot!

I think a variation of Lenny's shot is in SMS or W1P. Must be W1P and suggested by Shorty. IIRC.

I would have just raked the balls and tell my opponent I'm on a foul.

I am taking a foul.

I think this is the right shot but you're still in the pickle jar because the other guy is going to cut the three towards his hole and still leave you on the side rail.

An alternative is to shoot the 2 into the 12 and hide the CB behind the 7/4. At least this way you move the furniture round and with the right speed put the 12 and/or maybe the 2 on your side creating the semblance of a threat.

I think you were onto something there...

I would've done what you did except I would have hit it slow to ensure locking up on the four and taking the intentional foul.
