1p- what's the shot? I am stumped

The alternate image did it for me.

You shoot the 11 to the right, with a bunch of right. The cueball hits about the second diamond, then end rail and snuggles under the 9. Elementary dear Watson!

- Nope, Lennys shot is what I saw.

That is without being able to actually walk around the table and really look at things though. You will see different things in person.

Take a foul and hope for the best. With a break like that its rough action.

Why am I the Colonel? Because I always get the chicken

Shoot the 3 into the 10 and park the cueball between the 4 and 7 without disturbing them. The 3 will go off the end rail and land by the 13, The 10 will cross over to your side rail. Unless he finds a trick shot you'll have more options on your next shot.

This was my shot too.

You must be mad at your money then, it appears scott frost would likely take the foul and I doubt you want any of that.

Taking a foul after the break is an oft used reply. Think about it, is it better to give 9-8 and have him shooting from the far splinterboard, or to give him a shot at his hole and the take what's left when he finishes his turn?

When Dave M comes to Buffalo Billiards, I am going to be stupid enough to give him 9-8 for a hundy a game. :D

For those that would take the foul, what if he lags the ball back to the same spot? Would you take the foul again?

I would take the foul like Lenny said. this would give him one opportunity to make a mistake from that distance.
If he put me back I would take another foul. Having him needing two extra balls could be big down the line.
If we were not playing the three foul rule then I would take even more fouls.

This is the old parting of the Red Sea shot. I think you might be able to make the 9 by shooting through the 3. The 3 caroms the path open, and the cue continues on to make the 9.

I like playing around with these shots. However, from experience, I can see a couple of likely outcomes if I were to play it;

A) 1 ball caroms off the 13 & 14 to make the 9, clearing the pocket, and I scratch.

B) 8ball comes off the foot rail and stops the cue ball, leaving a plethora of cherries for my opponent to pick from.

C) All of the above. Pretty ugly as well, that.

Still, when it works, it's a powerful move. And a big relief.

Hit the eleven thin banking the cue ball toward the head rail by the two pieces of chalk,
if you play good speed you leave your opponent on the rail with a long nearly straight combo.

You see this a lot in this game at one time in some arrangement or similar. I would have tried some crazy shot but after numerous mistakes and years of attempts take the foul roll up against a ball or leave pretty much any place on the head end on the rail. A long shot cures a lot and I have found most guys if your playing for money won't take a chance at leaving you a shot.

Ya, lol, its a flier for sure. If you shoot it, you have to really pop it too!

I also think taking a whack at the left side of the 2, trying to billiard the 5 in while trying to make the 9 with the 8 and banking the 8 is another availabe flier.

Lennys shot, of course is the sane thing to do, but the other ways might even win. In a cheap game I'd probably go nuts.

if a jump cue is allowed, this is the spot i might use it.

I thought about the jump shot as well but the position of the nine in conjunction with no room to land deterred me of this. But with a full cue. No punk cues I mean jump cues are allowed in 1 hole. :-)

I'm taking the foul and putting him on the end rail. He has to come with a pretty good shot offense or defense.

Maybe 2's a bad choice. On number one I'm trying to hook him from trying to get to the 14 ball on the rail.

Maybe this is available...touchy shot though.

Be stupid enough to give me 10-5 for $50 a game and you'll give me a reason to drive an hour for you to learn me something about this one hole game...
