Shoot the 3 into the 10 and park the cueball between the 4 and 7 without disturbing them. The 3 will go off the end rail and land by the 13, The 10 will cross over to your side rail. Unless he finds a trick shot you'll have more options on your next shot.
You must be mad at your money then, it appears scott frost would likely take the foul and I doubt you want any of that.
Taking a foul after the break is an oft used reply. Think about it, is it better to give 9-8 and have him shooting from the far splinterboard, or to give him a shot at his hole and the take what's left when he finishes his turn?
For those that would take the foul, what if he lags the ball back to the same spot? Would you take the foul again?
This is the old parting of the Red Sea shot. I think you might be able to make the 9 by shooting through the 3. The 3 caroms the path open, and the cue continues on to make the 9.

I like playing around with these shots. However, from experience, I can see a couple of likely outcomes if I were to play it;
A) 1 ball caroms off the 13 & 14 to make the 9, clearing the pocket, and I scratch.
B) 8ball comes off the foot rail and stops the cue ball, leaving a plethora of cherries for my opponent to pick from.
C) All of the above. Pretty ugly as well, that.
Still, when it works, it's a powerful move. And a big relief.

if a jump cue is allowed, this is the spot i might use it.

When Dave M comes to Buffalo Billiards, I am going to be stupid enough to give him 9-8 for a hundy a game.
