Jay Helfert's Big Facebook Announcement - $60K Carson City Challenge

Ko is from Taipei City,Taiwan, Not China.

i dont want to get too technical about the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China thing, or how China and Taiwan are ethnically the same people. I just think that Ko, Chang and Wang Can would be a great addition to the list.

Its Jay's tournament and he doesn't need anybody giving him advice as to "whom" he should add. He has picked the right people. Those individuals selected are not going to "act out" and are going to treat the public with respect and be gracious winners and losers. There won't be any pouting, ranting, sharking and/or creating a scene because things didn't go there way.

Good job Jay

Im in no way capable of giving Jay advice. However I believe I have the right to advocate for my favorite. I might not be correct but I am paying for the ticket to the event so I think I should be able to voice an opinion. Its all with respect and with hope that I do. Its in our culture to have the freedom to voice an opinion so I will enjoy it while I have it.

I'd love to have Ko Pin Yi but I had no contact info on him. Maybe we will meet in Vegas.

Good.......

I would like to play
Did Bergman get a spot ?

Chris, because I respect you I will answer that question. The last spot came down to a decision between Justin, Brandon or Rob. I picked Rob, number one because I think he is playing great right now and I feel he deserves the opportunity. He has paid his dues and more! I also happen to like the guy. There will be other opportunities for Justin and Brandon. My plan is for two of these events a year on the West Coast.

I'm holding a spot for Alex until the snooker qualifiers are over. If he makes it on that tour, I will invite another filipino in his place. Once again my agreement calls for eight filipino players!

P.S. John Schmidt is my alternate in case a player cannot make it at the last minute. Flame away :yikes:

Great job Jay!

I thought you might be interested in this graphic. The most common languages spoken in the US are, of course, English and Spanish. But look at the next most common in Nevada and California.

Has anyone considered Rafael Martinez for the last spot? He's such a creative and powerful player. He can definitely win in this field

I like this idea...if not Raphael, some other highly regarded shortstop not normally mentioned as being in the top 20...thus tossing in a wild card entry.

BUT...it's Jay's show and I'm sure it'll be a good one.

Nevermind...another lesson learned. Read the entire thread before posting. Sorry.

And that is why I can do an event like this!

Jay, a suggestion: Johann Chua.

In an earlier thread I noticed you indicated Parica wasn't invited yet. Does that leave another spot open? If so, how about a filipino player that would be new to the US, someone like Cocoy.

Johann can't come over, visa issues
I've talked to him a few times

that's too bad, now that he's at the top of his game. he had a money match with efren yesterday. efren was given 3 points ahead. match finished 24-23 efren.

how about Jeff de Luna or Jeff Ignacio?

or has anyone heard of Edgie Geronimo? He just beat Alcano last week and Biado last saturday.
