Most attractive -NO POINTS- NO RINGS CUE - NO INLAYS

Check out some of the work done by Treadway, and Tony Guerra.

Guerra uses gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous woods in his cues and doesn't rely on inlays, points, etc. to make them beautiful.

I'll try and check them out.

Thanks,
JoeyA

I love the look of nicely figured Bocote, it's just the way I think wood is supposed look.
I asked Steve Lomax to throw together a jump-break cue with some nice bocote with a curly maple handle and a few months later, this beauty showed up at my door.

Beautiful!

Eric Crisp is your man.
Thanks!

My new Lomax player.

Forearm/Butt-Dark Tulipwood
Handle-Birdseye Maple
Brass rings and matching brass pin

Steve always make nice cues.

I also really like this Sugartree someone posted awhile back. It has an Olivewood forearm/butt with I believe a Cocobolo grip.

I think this cue is fantastic, and it's for sale.

Wood and craftsmanship is why I've collected cues.

Any figured wood is gorgeous, no points or inlays Needed.
Unfortunately, I have never gotten the bug to collect cues but can understand how one can easily get addicted to beautiful figured wood.

I think mine looks ok. No points, rings, wrap. Just superb Cocobolo.

Well I guess so.

I found out that the handle in my Judd JT-1 was not ebony but zircote. I'm a noob, I know but zircote is a really nice wood to use.

Best regards
Thanks!

This has a few little fancy additions but to me it would look just as good without them. Asian Ironwood and Hickory Burl

here is a cue made from one piece of zebrawood, its just cut at different angles and spliced back together.

one wood - two different looks

chuck starkey
Whew!

here is another example of my goofyness, one piece insane birdseye with stabalized birdseye ringsrings.

Guerra cues will surely pop up in this thread, high figure woods with clean designs is his wheelhouse. I also think Zylr and Sugartree cues fit this category as well.

One of my favorite cue woods is solely highly figured birdseye maybe cored with something dense and a brown leather wrap. I'd love to make myself one down the road.

Love that birdseye Starkey above as well!

I will have to learn more about these different woods.

Here's a nice quilted maple and cocobolo Pierce.

My apologies for using Tommie's picture, but it's all I have.
Very nice!

Thanks to all!

Bob Flynn @ Denali makes some gorgeous simple wood cues.

Here are two that he made for my sons last year that I gave them as early christmas gifts before they were deployed overseas.

Search posts here by Bob, username QMAKER. He has posted quite a few pics of his completed work over time.

Plus Bob does what he says he will, when he says he will do it.

Very nice wood!

Tell your sons that we appreciate their service.

I love cues like this, clean and simple, they look all business. I'm a huge fan of a simple birdseye cue with a linen wrap (which is also my main playing cue) but wrapless models always look nice when good woods are used. Bluegrass and Sugartree are the two cue makers that come to mind when I think of this style of cue and I really like them both. Also Rat cues has some great offerings in this style at budget prices.

I've even been eyeing a Jacoby D1-PH lately...super simple combo of purpleheart and maple with minimal ring work, but I like the simplicity of it.

I have a Thompson or two that fit this catagory. I'll see if I can get a pic or up...

Here's one, Snakewood and curly maple...

I like those a lot Joey. There are many that can and do.

Kevin Varney was another maker that had mastered that look as well.

Here is mine, don't know if you'll be able to see the grain in the wood, I don't think the pictures do it justice. Does have joint rings and Hoppe ring.

I think I know what the Curly Maple looks like, but I don't think I can imagine what a medium stained curly maple would look like. Is it just a darker curly maple?

thanks,

Joey

Think of what more than half of the Scruggs cues you have seen look like. That shop was fond of staining maple and I always hated that inclination.

I like this one. What is the darker wood? And who made this?
Thanks,
