Whats a good soft or med-soft tip?

I want a tip with great traction...and I feel like the kamui soft is more like a med-hard tip.

Any suggestions?

I want a tip with great traction.

You may like the Goodyear All Season Radial then.

Of course you knew that I was going to say that.

Of course I am going to suggest the Ultra Skin soft. I can't remember if he is doing a SS yet.

I did get a Soft Ki Tech but not playing much lately as I am waiting on back surgery so decided to hold off on trying it just yet. But looking forward to it again.

Thats always an option as they are getting good ratings.

And I couldn't make suggestions without including Dawg's Duds. Obviously a Dud is going to be a tad harder than you like but if you haven't tried one out yet, nothing to lose. Traction, I get super draw from one and enuff spin to suit my needs.

I bet that you can try all three for the price of one Kamui tip. Ultra Skin Tom has great deals as does Ki Tec Chris. And Dawg's Duds are very cheap as well.

Splurge and live a little.

I've used Elmasters & Brunswick Blue diamonds for 45 years they were the softest & impregnated with chalk so they grabbed great for all of the english I used. I bought a slightly used OB classic a few years ago & it game with a Kamui 'Black' Super Soft tip. It felt like the cue ball was sticking to it. It was too soft feeling even for me So upon someone's suggestion I took about 5 layers off of it & it has been playing very well ever since.. So...I'm surprised that you think that a Kanui Soft is more like a medium hard.

I recently bought a very slightly used OB Pro which has a Kamui Black Clear Medium on it & it feels only a bit harder than the the Elkmasters.

Was your Kamui a Black or a Brown? The Black is supposed to be intended for higher humidity.

Anyway I think the Elkmasters are one of the softest & with the chalk impregnated in them they work very well. The Kamui Black Super Soft works well & for me was too soft til layers were removed but it tends Glaze over & needs *****ing much more than the Elkmasters.

I hope you find the tip for which You're looking.

Best Wishes,
Rick

You don't need a fancy smanchy tip. A triangle gives me a lot of traction. If you want soft and traction max, get Elkmaster, but you will replace more often.

Well, you know you can and most likely will get as many answers as there are repliers to a question like this since, in the end, it is a preference thing as much as an experience with many tips thing.

But, I'll throw in my 2 cents anyway. :)

I've never tried a tip that cost more than 5 or 6 bucks, not cause I can't afford to, but because I think I deserve a little Vaseline when I'm getting screwed.

I've used Elkmaster, Le Pro, Milk Duds, and Triangle among a few others. Triangle now for many years with no interest in trying the more expensive layered tips.

I did come across the Tiger Emerald layered tip that was very reasonably priced and now, after trying them, I like them best of all, by far. Not only playability and price, but also nice material to install and shape. I think they should be on your "give it a try" list as well.

Played with many many tips have come to rest with a elk master tha'ts compressed without any soaking and after all tips enjoy this greatly inexpensive and it works might not be for you but it is worth a try....

Choices

I like a well broken in Elk Master and the Talisman medium tip. Neither will break the bank. Will try the Ki Tech some day. I have been using Black Kamui tips in the soft and medium persuasion. I'm starting to think the 20 buck tips are not needed for a player like me. Reyes, Strickland, Bustamante, etc. shoot pretty good pool with an Elk Master tip.

Give the Zan-Soft tip a try. Zan plays close to the Kamui Soft, but I feel it grabs the cue ball better.

Question....if you like them well broken in, what do you do when you install a new one? Obviously an adjustment period is needed. I used to use the LePro and because of this and quit using it.
