I just don't understand the lies and obfuscations...Just come out and say. "I don't have the money. I over extended, over represented myself, I'm working to get everyone paid as soon as I am able.

If I continue to have the open I will have to take a close look at what I can do to ensure this doesn't happen again in the future, or I will at least be candid about the status up front. "

It would LITERALLY be THAT simple...

Pushed back dates, lies about communications, who has and hasn't been paid, when payment will be made, all that does is make it worse... I just DON'T understand how someone can't see that...

Only in pool could this happen, again and again. Then some folks will defend him and saying how good he is for pool or blame it on his alcohol problem, or him trying to give the best tourney, blah, blah, blah, C'mon guys, tell Barry to stick it where the sun don't shine. He treats pool players and pool fans with disdain, not to mention those that work for him.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Yes, the title of US Open Champion is nice, but your personal integrity is even nicer, so tell Barry, sorry, not next year.

I wouldn't bet on that this year. I don't think there will be a U.S Open this year, but if there is, nobody will feel a thing for any player. I won't think much of any player that enters...including SVB. Johnnyt

agreed. it won't happen. it can't happen. he's in too deep & everyone knows his business & no one is buying his bullshit anymore. there comes a point when it finally catches up to you -

he's got 8 months to raise $140K revenue and he still owes $40K+/- from OCT? (Roberta should be able to give an exact dollar amount.)

i don't know how the PROS (who have all the pull in the world), can keep their MOUTHS SHUT, in the face of their fellow players being screwed. it's a whole new level of lost respect.
 
pro pool player's cruise

This guy was in the pool hall saying that he could get cruise tickets for $20. A well known Texas pro player jumped on that deal!

Come the day of the cruise he went to the cruise lines office ticket in hand. WHACK!! Something hit him a big blow on the back of the head. When he woke up he was bobbing around in an old Mae West style life vest in the middle of the ocean. After awhile he noticed another well known pro from over Georgia way bobbing around. "Lousiest cruise I have ever taken, I bet they don't serve the seven course dinner either."

The other player said, "Probably not, they didn't last year."

Exactly. I'm done being pissed off about this. The players bring it on themselves by choosing to participate.

Also, I'm thinking to starting a petition to the APA. One of the prizes of winning the U.S. Amateur is a paid entry to the U.S. Open. I think from now on, it should be a paid entry to a better event,Mike the USBTC
 
I haven't took the time to read all the post. But this is an every year issue with barry, everyone knows this but yet the still show up by the truck load. Barry will delay payments and come up with every excuse why the payments have not been made.....Whats even more mind boggling is more than half the people that waited for there money will still play in the next us open. So go figure. Bottom line you wanna hurt barry BOYCOTT THE US OPEN. If he has no event , he will be forced to sell the rights to it or he will change his ways.
