U.S Open Escrowed by Accu-Stats

From Barry directly: It's the U.S. Open & a tradition to sing our national anthem every night & no my friend, you must not be able to tell time. Also, F.Y.I., I only have 2-3 cocktails all day & night but I appreciate your concern.

From Barry: The $75,000.00 added will surely be in Pat's account 90 days out as it's been arranged.

From Barry: Why bet small like $50.00? Let's both post $1,000.00 anytime.

From Barry: No, I will not be able to "dip" into player's entries as the $75,000.00 added & all entries will go directly into Pat's account.

Now that the Open is a max 128 top quality field, having the entry fee at $250.00 more makes sense. Considering the prize fund breakdown as well as paying deeper than any other promoter such as 33rd-48th receiving $2,000.00, double the entry fee. All other promoters having a filed of 128 players only pay through 32 spots.

LOL
.

last year BB wanted to bet $10k he'd fill the field with a $1000 entry fee. Ahahaha

PS-make sure you squeeze in about 4 extra seats per row in the VIP seats-It's easy money and the customers will still come back.. (Except this one)

From Barry: Are you a player or a spectator?

Yes it is a new high but $1,000 isn't what it used to be.

For the most coveted and prestigious tournament in America, I don't think $1,000 is too much.

Without the higher entry fees, the professional players are playing for crumbs. For those who want a GREAT vacation, a $1,000.00 for entry doesn't seem like a lot of money. And for those who want to put a horse into the race, you know you are at least going to win something decent enough to split up any way you see fit.

From Barry: Thank you for your support.

I've known that this was in the works for a while now and was very supportive of Barry's decision to save his U.S. Open. Thankfully Pat agreed to take on this job and the responsibility that goes with it. On this basis I'm inclined to join my friend Pat in working at this year's Open to make it the best one yet.

Mark...Everyone knows that your "interviews" are canned (pre-recorded). The show is tomorrow night. You don't have time to put something together that quickly and get in on ABR by tomorrow night. Perhaps next week...:D

On another not ABR may be back in business this week we got Barry B back in the headlines :) I think he is doing the right thing getting Pat involved who has a reputation that I have never heard anyone say anything bad about him. Maybe that's my interview for this week on ABR? MMMM

I, and most fans and participants, like the US national anthem. As a long time music executive I have to say that your choice of vocalist could be better.

While she stays on key for the most part her pitch goes off and the tonal quality is more geared toward Karaoki night at Q Masters than for an event like this.

That said, I could look past this, but when you take into account your uneccessary blather in the introduction the whole thing becomes tedious.

Maybe a simple "Singing our national anthem.....(singers name here) would be beneficial to the whole experience and make it not seem like a half hour to Nick B and others.

I am sure that those of us who are under the impression that there are more than 2-3 cocktails involved are influenced by the amount of uneccessary time that you spend in front of the camera with microphone in hand going on about your friends and childhood and the endless shuffling of papers and loss of train of thought. It is painful to watch.

That said, I am very happy to see that you have taken the steps that you have to re-energize this event and I wish you well in this endeavour. I am almost convinced to come see it live.

JoeyA...IMO it's a stretch to call Barry's tournament "the most coveted and prestigious tournament in America". Perhaps one time, but because of Barry's poor track record over the last decade or more, that title remains (imo rightfully so) with Greg's Derby City Classic. This is not just my opinion either. Still I am very glad to see Pat involved at the level he is. It is a step in the right direction.

I saw this on FB and maybe I missed it on the AZB story.

First place back up to $40,000.00

Who's gonna win it?

JoeyA

Coveted and Prestigious

I appreciate your opinion on this but I have to disagree.

If you ask any player, which tournament would they like to win most, the vast majority will say, The U.S. OPEN 9 BALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Now if they only play one pocket......well that's another story...

Pat saves the open like a saint...
Maybe we should call this St. Patrick's day ...
..oh wait.

So Barry has plenty of time to read AND RESPOND to comments today but when the Vietnamese player didn't get paid (along with others), he had no idea what was going on and was MIA from responding for days on end. Interesting.

And I am not rich like Barry who owns a 2.5 million dollar pool room. I work at McDonalds and $50 is a day and a half of wages for me. We can bet $50 and post it with Jay Helfert. $75,000 in escrow 90 days out from the tourney. No matter what the excuses such as a snow storm, his dog ate his bank card, the wire service was closed, Roberta forgot to do it. 90 days out from the tourney. Just say go. I'll send Jay a $50 bill and sign it. Barry can do the same.

I hate to agree on this point Scott. I spoke and got some good info from Accu-Stats today but tonight is the "Accu-Stats Game Show" and so Pat is busy with that and he leaves tomorrow to go somewhere for a week. So you a probably right Mr Lee. I was tying to get Pat by the way but barry may be the way to go what you think>??? I have had Barry on a lot and don't want to make it the Barry B Show.

You didn't hear? We're featuring watchwhatusez tomorrow;)

Mark...I think we've heard enough from BB to last a few years. There are many more interesting (and deserving) people to interview. Heck, I'd rather listen to the barkfest between SJD and Mr 3-cushion! LOL

Well, I didn't know this !

I knew what was coming but it is so great to hear Pat will have you on his right to make the Open a great one !

Thanks Jay
Maybe I'll buy your new book
:)

From Barry: Are you a player or a spectator?
.

A VIP spectator for 8-10 years -maybe more, who was screwed about half the time. I finally tossed in the towel when my last 'VIP Seat' was beyond the table legs and i was 65% in the aisle with only a place at the table to put my left elbow. I hope he enjoyed the extra $180 he got from that move cause it was the last $$ he got from me.

One year the VIP area was so overrun with encroachers who were kneeling behind every seat, i couldnt even fight my way to my OCCUPIED seat for the finals. Other years i was supposed to have an aisle seat only to have the aisle completely vanish in a reconfiguration before i got there. Nothing like that ever occurred with my VIP seats at the DCC.

2-3 cocktails? What's in those cocktails? The entire top shelf?

If it truly only takes 2-3 cocktails to be three sheets to the wind, then perhaps he'd be better off cutting it down to 1.
