How many are using FB groups to sell now instead of AZ for sale subforum?

Says the guy who likes to do Hit and Run Posts. But ya never stick around.

Obviously you don't like NPR, leave it to the guys who like it. Is that such a tough thing to do?

It doesn't create Havoc for any Mod. We have 2 people banned in I can't remember how long. Ya obviously didn't read what Mike said about it. It was created for members to blow off steam. It did turn out better than that because it is actually much more than members doing a daily rant.

Go over right now and ask for a good bar b cue marinade or a dry rub for ribs. I bet you will get quite a few replies.

And then do it in the Main. Disguise it as, I am having a few friends over to play pool and I would like to bar b cue some ribs later. So it won't get moved.

I bet it won't take but 3 posts before someone tells you it isn't pool related, you're Gay for asking for a recipe and start a fight.

The threads are only what the Flavor of the Day is. You wouldn't know because you don't hang out, other than to do a hit and run on occasion.

Of course certain threads don't last long, that is why you might not see them. A person asks, they get what they asked for. The Thread dies.

The Mods don't bother for the most part because we have thicker skin and don't get our Boxer Briefs in a twist because someone disagreed with us.

A Pool Message Board is a perfect example, specially AZB. You won't make everyone happy no matter what you try.

People complained about the Sales Forum. They changed it based on what the majority wanted. People are still whining about it.

Ya know what. You didn't make a comment on probably the most valid point.

Why is it when a thread gets moved from the main to NPR for what ever reason, many times because people are fighting, and if the Mods just delete it, that gives cause for more whining, so they move it to NPR.

The only people that continue fighting are people that post in the main. We may have a look to see what the cat dragged in, but we seldom join in on the fighting.

Why do you think that is Colonel?

The Main can also be somewhat of a joke. You get guys like CJ and now Chris, just using it as a platform for their Sales.

Chris was one that was doing some whining not long ago. I bet if the Mods regulated him as it actually should be, he would be gone in a day.

Hey, go over right now. We are discussing a Russian sub hunt off the coast of Finland. Simo Haya, The sniper that was nick named, The White Death, The TV series, Dare Devil. Baltimore. A bunch of others.

Guess what, no one is fighting, or even arguing. You could get into the Thread about Believing in a Supreme Being. That went into some pretty weird stuff that I don't understand, but no one is killing each other.

Breath of fresh air from much of the boring crapiola over here.

Hit & runs? Im not taking the bait. Its a colossal waste of time. In the post prior to yours Rain Man says don't click on it, you say it's about recipes & hobbies. C'mon guys, really.

Many members like myself use Tapatalk app to view this forum on phones, I move around and am seldom in front of a computer. This app has a feature called a timeline, displaying threads from ALL forums with the most recent posts. I've had times I go to the app and 8 out the top 10 threads are NPR crap threads, not hobbies and recipes, instead it's "Burn Baltimore Burn", "Obamas a joke", "Hillary is Stupid", "Hondos in the hospital suffering from being stabbed in the back", Ferguson this, liberals that, etc etc etc ad nauseum. Yeah, your little gang has hobbies alright.

It's disconcerting to go to a billiard forum and see the majority of threads in the timeline being on politics, religion, veiled racism & political infighting amongst liberals & right wingers instead of being about pool. Then there's the obligatory complaint when someone points this out with NPR dwellers stating how boring threads are about tips, shafts, or anything pool related. Well it IS a pool forum, at least it is to some of us. If you don't enjoy pool related subjects why come to a forum called AZBilliards? Oh that's right, to participate in mob rules discussions eviscerating anyone with the temerity to disagree with the mob. That seems like a great hobby huh? NPR shouldn't be axed, there's a valid use for a sub forum where members that come here for pool meet others and can expound on that friendship discussing things that interest them outside of pool. Politics, religion & racially charged threads tossed out as bait by those that just come here spoiling for a fight shouldn't be tolerated though, nothing good comes of it. If they banned those topics then how many of the NPR GANG would still come to discuss hobbies? I'm laying odds you wouldn't see Sev, Slide Rule, LWW, and the rest of the regime leadership much, if at all ever again.

Colonel, you should start yourself a garden. There are a few threads in NPR that will get you started on the right track.

Oh and another thing to get you on the right track......no one is complaining about the Main here. It's the threads that get moved to NPR from the Main because y'all can't get along.

We get along just fine in NPR. I used to post in the Main all of the time and moved to NPR because of all the drama in the Main. We are all like a big disfunctional family in NPR, but we still get along with each other. Im right at home in NPR and you could be too.

So your suggestion to 'fix' NPR (even though NPR regulars like it just the way it is) is to BAN certain speech...? :speechless:

More specifically, speech that you don't agree with..? Thats awesome :killingme:

I got allot help on my need 101 photography thread. in the NPR
Several threads on photography, pets food , wood working , fishing, biking.
One of the members you mentioned is writing a book about pool players and cue makers. :thumbup
Several members who post in there are cue makers ............................:
We have a few professional photographers too.

Some of those NPR nuts entertain pro pool players in there homes .

I don't know why you guys are choosing sides and battling out what section is the best, really who cares as long as we have a good pool forum to go visit its all good.

How did you know Tom was stabbed in the back? That information was not released to the public.

(Actually, 'Dale' said he was stabbed in the chest....but don't leave town anyway)

AZ is kind of like the Love's truck stops down here. If you are hungry when you stop at one you can get a good hot dog off of the grill or some cheese and nachos sitting beside the grill or a cold sandwich from the fridge. If that doesn't suit you then make a left just past the counter and walk into a built in McDonalds for a Big Mac.........and guess what if that doesn't suit you then keep walking and past Mickey D's and step into Subway for an Italian BMT.

Now if you can't find some thing you like in the Love's truck stop then walk back out to your car and find some grub down the street. Don't tell everyone how bad their food sucks before you walk out though.

For every thread on "hobbies, recipe threads and cooking" there are hundreds on political crap, hot button racial topics & right wing crap.

I've said it in NPR & I'll say it again here, in civilized society it's considered poor form to discuss politics & religion in company. Why? they're hot button topics that lead to the crap that goes on in NPR. I'm a member of other forums that have similar sub forums that are useful in that they allow forum members to discuss topics not related to that forum but politics, religion & racially charged topics are forbidden, they'll get you a ban. It works, keeps problems that exist in NPR here non existent.

There are those here that live for this crap & they'll be the 1st to cry how censorship is infringing on their rights to free speech. I call bullcrap on that. How did another poster put it above, if you don't like it, don't come here. There has to be a better use to bandwidth than a thread titled "Obamas a joke" started by one poster with over 20,000 + posts, 98% of which made by the OP, that's a waste & certainly seems to be far too much space given to one individual to spew his personal agenda. Take your vitriol to political forums, it serves no use here but to create havoc for the mods.
One of the good things about NPR is ...we value fee speech.
...and you'll find opinions you can get down with...

Typical liberal.

Allen hit it 10%. But, he is always that nice, even in NPR.

The one that Paul Linked to, Mike was having a bad day and said what was on his mind.

Everyone allowed him that and he is still there.

No Colonel, this is just how things get deflected and twisted. I never said it was Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows.

I forgot. Gardening. Every year Sev posts pics of his Garden. One guy is just starting out in HydroPonics.

Mike is a very talented photographer. He frequently shares some of his work with the rest.

And, if you dropped in, had something on your mind, you could start a thread about it, and I would bet that no one would get in your face.

If you are going to start a thread about politics, religion and a couple of other topics, sure, be prepared to defend you side and argue it. What else would you expect.

I still like the Main. I post in the Funny Gif thread. If anyone has a question about cue repair, I am always willing to answer to the best of my ability.

There are many threads in the Main that don't interest me, same as NPR. I don't click on them.

The main used to be like a Wild West Show, until Dave weeded out a couple of Trolls and a one of the Main trouble Makers.

Pretty reserved now for the most part.

All I am saying Colonel, is that you haven't hung around NPR enuff to know.

Alot of very decent people over there, but you wouldn't know that, would you.

And just because you and a few others don't like NPR, doesn't mean it should get axed.

At one time not long ago, Chris got himself a pretty big Superiority Complex based on the opinions of a few Vendors and others at a couple of larger pool tourneys.

Apparently they told Chris that they wouldn't sell their wares or post at AZ because most members are nothing but A Holes.

Chris didn't waste any time telling us that he pretty much felt the same way, and he was thinking of packing his bags and leaving. He was pretty disappointed in all of us.

But, he didn't go. Why, probably because he realized that in the long run, AZB was the best place for exposure and Sales and if he left, there would be no other place available that could do the same for him.

But, funny what inventing a cue tip and a piece of chalk can do to a persons Ego, isn't it.

I was honestly a bit shocked at the Dressing Down we received that day. I was thinking, that just isn't the best Marketing Ploy of the Day.

I looked on vbulletin.org again for something like this and I don't see it. I am going to go into the code. It might be as simple as a couple small changes to the code that handles replies to threads.

Mike

Hi Mike,

Sorry, no. I have seen it on I think the vbulletin.org platform but can't find it right now.
But, even if you can't find it there are many programmers that can code it for you for not too much money, or even free.
I am pretty sure it is out there though.

Actually not long ago I made a plea for the knocking to stop... I am sorry that you took it personal but here you are knocking me for being the messenger... It's pretty much par for your course but no worries... I didn't expect anything different....

I was here long before I ever started making tips, or chalk or templates.. And I go back to RSB... So I actually am not going anywhere....

I stated my case on what the changes had done to my ability to solicit advice and feedback here on the forum... And pointed out that there flaws in the current rules and for sale subforums.... Starting out here on AZ I had lots of help from members to make changes and improvements... I am sorry you have this issue with us actually being successful.. I guess it's not just cold up there in the great white north..... umm may have missed that tho... cold and bitter or old and bitter? Not sure which word association is correct.....

As far as ego? Listen to you? Playing high and mighty and casting stones... You running for office or just trying to run me down? keep at it... I had stated my piece and pointed out the problems as not just I see them...

You did notice that right?? Did you read Mike's posts?? He knows there are problems and they are continuing to look for solutions... I am happy to hear those things and look forward to a better AZBilliards...

but Oh no you just jumped up and grabbed a pitchfork and screamed for torches... Keep on with your little tirade... I'll be right around the corner... Send me a note when you and the cyber mob are going to storm my cyber castle... I'll lower my cyber drawbridge......

Chris

Anything that costs the sellers something, has been met with "AzB is making money on the site. Oh my god, the sky is falling. "

Mike

Mike, think about this. A for sale section for the "fast lane" in which posters have to pay a monthly fee before they can post their items for sale, no limit of bumps, but after 30 days they have to renew their monthly fee or their posts become dead, can't be bumped up anymore.

"Slow lane" sales forum, anyone can post what ever they're selling, trading, or wanting to buy, but can only be posted once and can't be bumped.

Because I want to thoroughly discuss this before pulling the trigger on a change this significant.*Believe it or not, we actually spent a fairly serious amount of time internally discussing the wanted/for sale changes before we made them. We saw where that went.

On the other hand, I feel pretty good about implementing long bans for users who are just trying to annoy me. Wanna keep testing that?

Mike

Then why don't you?

Anything that costs the sellers something, has been met with "AzB is making money on the site. Oh my god, the sky is falling. "

Mike

Hell Mike I will go ahead and buy the banner that I have talked to Jerry about if it will help pay for the coding.... We still are barely breaking even but like I keep saying Outsville would not exist if it weren't for AZBilliards. This is where our roots are.....

Chris

Yes, really. You have no idea the # of complaints we got due to overbumping. It was ridiculous. And yes, the majority of those complaints was accompanied with "and that is why AzB is crashing and burning".

There seems to be a misconception that we allow the problems on here because we need the traffic. We don't need the traffic. If I could solve these problems and it cost me half of the page views in the forums, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Mike

What problem??
Over bumping??
Really???

Your changes have affected the traffic to the 2nd most visited sub-forum on your site..

I have opinions about the stuff that is discussed in the NPR area. I actually have pretty strong opinions about most of it.

I just don't feel the need to express those opinions. If the idiots in that area who don't agree with me are that stupid, I can't help them.

Mike

Yes but ever once and a while you come out to play.
