World Masters Table A Joke

That table is waaaaaaay too fast. No team has really played shape well at all. IMO between, the wooden rack and the ice surface speed of the table is why nothing is going on the breaks. The balls are just sliding into the rail when hit, and/or the spot is in the wrong place or the cloth was cleaned with the wrong stuff. That table is in no way playing anywhere near a Diamond. Fix it. It's not just the hot lights. Johnnyt

Simonis that is fast to start with. Probably stretched like a drum skin. Johnnyt

Johnny
It is World Cup of Pool not World Masters. The feel and look is exactly like World Pool Masters though LOL. Matchroom productions all look good and stream awesome

Yes lots of drama and all kinds of errors, weird stuff

But I like it.

When is the last time you saw more dry breaks in 9 ball than wet? Table is not right. Johnnyt

not to mention balls hitting a diamond up from the pocket and still going in.
Yes, it's brand new Simonis and it should tighten up by the last day. But wow, even the commentators were remarking on the friendly rolls and accepting pockets.

Glad to see I am not the only one to notice the loose pockets.
I tried to reproduce some of the shots made on my own pro-cut Diamond table and they rattled as expected.
I suspect they use the league cut pockets in Europe to better match the Brunswicks they are used to.

Disagree.
Indonesia had that table pegged. They played pretty awesome on it.

New cloth breaks better from center at 70% speed....
....as the days go on, move the cue ball farther from center and increase the speed.

..the biggest problem is probably new balls...they need breaking in....players knew
this over a hundred years ago....but new generations forget.

I tend to agree. I think super fast, super slippery slidey new cloth tables dumb down the game and narrow the margin between good and great players.

They make the pockets play huge for dribble shots and worst of all, it reduces the grip a player can achieve with side english, which discourages the better players from taking more advanced and attractive routes for shape.

In other sports, you practice on what you compete on, but few have the luxury (or misfortune) of playing on super-quick sliding tables day in and day out.

I've mentioned before that new cloths for tournaments could be treated with a coating of something to increase the friction. At least on the rails, so the rail will take the spin better and that will prevent missed shots from dropping in also.

The 9 ball is on the spot, not the 1. Probably explains the tough breaking.

The table is just fine. No way it's league cut pockets either.

These are the best players in the world. They will adjust just fine.

Are you guys setting up the excuses already if Shane does not have his break wired? :):):):)

It would be interesting to measure the throw differentials between new and 6 month old balls, and old balls that are waxed.

The 9 is racked on the spot .
With new cloth they should have 4 in pockets .
New cloth sucks .

Maybe pool should take something from baseball w how they mud up the new balls before using them.

Yeah im sure its not players error

Lets see what happens with Big Head and Shane. Im sure Shane will make a ball and get shape on his breaks because he's fricking SVB!!!

Around the turn of the last century, when English billiards was THE game in the
Commonwealth, players would not play a tournament with new balls, the angles
were inconsistent.
They had to be played with for three weeks before the championship.
The trouble with new balls is that they slip....but they don't keep slipping.
As they partially break in, sometimes you hit a spot that's has more friction

Waxing balls just recreates the problem.

Your right!

I think this is the toughest format in Pool and that playing a roll in the missed shape, trying not to leave your partner bad is an extra added stressor!

Nice USA shirts.
Waleed has "Sandcastle Billiards" on his shirt, is that a plug for Ed Liddawi's billiard room in Edison, NJ?
