Prayers for Mike

I got a call today that said Mike never lost nothing mentally and praying that he continues to improve every day. I've known Mike many years and know he's a tough guy who will handle this bad situation better than most. God Bless Mike & family !!

This if from Mike Johnson's wife:

"Update on Mike - For last 3 visits, he was sleeping so we left immediately. This A.M., we found him awake, but quite for the most part. Vent was taken off, he was breathing on his own. I was elated. Tonight we went back, vent back on!! Some problems with his heart (AFIB) I think that's what they said. Anyway, again we slipped out after only a few min., talk with Nurse and left. -

I found a lady coming to visit him and had to tell her NO VISITORS for now. Hate doing that, but Mike does not want anyone to see him like he is. Don't know how much plainer to speak or get the word out.

I so much appreciate his friends, but he's in no condition , can't talk and I'm sure he doesn't want anyone just staring at him. He gets agitated so easy and frustrated. I guess I'll just have to start living there to monitor all this. Feel like I'm sounding "Mean", but right now I'm concentrating on Mike. No visitor sign is on his door, but guess they go on in when we aren't there. --So much for this --

He is improving in some ways and taking a step back in others. Can't seem to catch any of his 7 or 8 DRs., but nurses keep up with any and all changes and what they are doing. Hopefully, one day soon, I'm gonna' have some really really good news. At present, I feel so helpless. Keep Prayers going for him. They are working."

Thanks for the update Joey. Will keep sending prayers for him and his family.

All in all, though, pretty good news. Once he's finally off the vent then things should start improving at a faster pace.
The nurses will keep an eye out for infection, stuff like that, but it looks like he's recuperating slowly, albeit surely.

Thanks for the update.

I am praying for Mike and his family.

I can understand how Mike feels about visitors. I know people mean well and maybe not everyone feels like Mike and I do. The few times that I was in the hospital I did not like or want any visitors. I just wanted to be left alone and not feel like I had to "entertain" them for lack of a better expression or word. It is like any time when you do not feel well. You just want to be left alone, isolated and not be disturbed.

one have an update on Mike??Very talented man ??

Mike is in rehab now. He gets bored easily and requests more rehab. That is a good thing, imo. Small but steady progress for Mike Johnson. Hopefully, much more to come!

JoeyA

P.S. Oh yeah, he is tolerating visits from his buds now. :-)

This is a note from Mike Johnson's wife, June:

UPDATE ON MIKE: --He's finally HOME as of last Friday. No more hospital beds, halls and being woken up during the night. Here, it lots of "wheels, meals and pills, etc. He's walking good on walker, getting around the home, trying to adjust to "what is". Very quiet and seems to be Accepting a new kind of life. Already have had nurses, occup. and phy. therapist visits and will continue to have them for next sev. weeks. --We are learning together , the new way of life - not the one we had before. He's extremely independent and wants to do for himself, very impulsive, but I have to watch every step he takes for fear of him falling. We def. cannot afford that. - He's looking forward to getting back into his shop, but that will come later. -Sold his last motorcycle and now have to sell his car as it has a clutch. Lots of things will change around here as we must adjust to all that our future holds. He does sev. exercises three times a day to build strength over the entire body. Both lower limbs has to be "elevated" at all times and I have to remind him of that. Prosthesis will come , hopefully in about two or three months at which time he'll be admitted back into rehab so they can teach him how to walk on it. He is SO much against being re-admitted to do this, but it must be done. He's so tired of hospitals. Today, we start our Doctor follow-ups. Have many many to see. -I'll find out how we'll manage to get him out of the house, into the car, then out and into Dr's office, etc. (A new thing for me). -So much I'd like to say here, but I'll hush and ask that you continue to remember him in your Prayers as we still have a long journey ahead of us. I will say this: MIKE WILL EVENTUALLY BE BACK TO HIS OLD SELF, walking, working in his shop , driving, etc. - He is determined to reach all his goals. Til later-----

June is a wonderful wife....Mike is blessed.

Mike made me a cue once....everything I wanted and on time.
He called me later and said he really liked the design and asked to use it...
...which I readily agreed.

When Mike starts building cues again, I'm going to order another one....
....just because he can build cues again.
