Mike Johnson - Jensen Cues needs some prayers

Keith spoke to Mike's wife June yesterday. Mike is still in ICU. It was a tragic accident, involving a car that tried to beat a red light. It was not Mike's fault. We're praying for him to get better soon.

Here's one coming at you Mike.
The power of prayer is a strong and positive thing, especially when sent en mass. I know from personal experience.
We'll bend a knee for him, dawg.

Hello all, I am Mike Johnson's (Jensen Cues) daughter, Tracye. As you all may know, Mike was in a serious motorcycle accident on Sunday, March 6th. Someone ran a red light and hit him. He lost his left lower leg at the scene, has 10 broken ribs, broken right hand, broken left cheek bone, broken left eye socket along with serious bruising and trauma to his lungs. He had been holding his own, on a ventilator in critical condition until today, Friday March 11th. He took a turn for the worse this evening. Due to the trauma to his lungs he is not getting oxygen to his blood. His condition is extremely serious and the doctors are doing all they can. Please keep Mike and my mom (June) in your prayers as she is also not in good health. Mike's cell phone was destroyed in the accident, so for those of you that have tried to call, we will have a new phone by tomorrow. You can leave text or voice mails and we will get back to you when we can. Thank you for you support, prayers and concern.

Tracye,

Thanks for posting this. There are many of us out here that care deeply for your dad. We are his extended family.

This news doesn't sound good. Prayers and positive thoughts headed to Mike and the Johnson family. Please keep us informed.

I don't know Mike but have always heard positive things about him and his cues. It seems to me that certain portions of the country discover their own greatest cue builders and Mike is one of them. I have always wondered about independent cue builders insurance considering the health concerns that can come with the territory and believe that now if there ever was a time for a go fund me campaign now would be the time. If someone is familiar with how to do this I would say please let Mikes Daughter know how. I don't have any clue how it works, but as a fellow pool advocate I would pitch in.

This is terrible. Mike has been a respected member of the pool community for a very long time. Please let us know what we can do to help.

Thank you. I am so glad we have an update but so shocked at the same time.

Last night I rode for him. I will be with my Brothers today and I will make sure he is added to our prayers.

We are all pulling for him.

Tracye;

Thank you very much for providing this update.

Many thoughts and prayers are being sent Mike's way.

Earlier, I alluded to a couple of phone conversations I had with Mike where the subject of riding m/c's came up and there were some hair raising stories.

Mike actually said he enjoyed riding late at night much more now because there was less traffic and I commented that, yes, there may be less cars then but the quality is worse, esp at bar-closing times.

Any fellow az members who ride, please stay extra alert because we can't depend on others to always be doing the right thing. Sometimes, it just doesn't matter how alert you are. :(

Fight your way back, Mike!

best,
Brian kc

This thread has been haunting me since it came out.

Mike, I'm so sorry.

This is even worse bad news.

Doctors can at times do amazing things but sometimes they are basically helpless to really do anything.

Let us ALL Prayer for God to take a Hand & Help Mike, His Family, & All that personally know Mike.

God can do what no one else can do.

Let's ALL Prayer to God.

From a close friend of the family today:

"Just got a call from Mrs.June and I am letting everyone know that Mike has taken a turn for the worse and the doctor has lessened his chance to survive. There is no visitation other than family so for now just keep Mike and the family in your prayers!"

I don't pray, but damn if I ain't now...please make it though this Mike.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

Any updates?

I am keeping Mike and his family in my thoughts and prayers. He is one of the good guys in the business and we need more like him.

Keith spoke to Mike's wife June yesterday, and she said Mike is responsive, which is a small improvement.

That is very tough news to swallow.
If you need any help at all, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Mike Johnson

Mike and I have known each other for quite a few years. Every time I saw him he was very nice, always seemed to be in a good mood.

He was well respected in the cue world. I'm pretty sure I met him in Louisiana at one of Grady's one pocket events.

Hoping for a sign that recovery is coming. He didn't deserve this misfortune.

Get well Mike-----

Hello all, I am Tracye, Mikes daughter. My mom, June, and I overwhelmed by the outreach and outpouring of prayers, love and support. Thank you all very much and please keep the prayers coming, they are working. After several days and many times of touch and go, the doctors were able to get his lungs to expand a little more with the ventilator and paralytic medications. With 10 broken ribs you can imagine the pain if they had not paralyzed him and sedated him. His lungs have finally started to respond, therefore allowing his blood to have more oxygen. They took him off the paralytic meds yesterday and now we just have to keep his lungs working. He is still extremely sedated and very critical. But we made it over that one hurdle. He did have to get 2 more units of blood this morning (that makes 8 total so far). He is responsive to pain when the nurses have to change his bandages, but other than that they keep him pretty sedated. We would sure love to see him open his eyes or squeeze our hand but we are just not there yet. Again, there is no brain or neurological injuries, he is just heavily sedated. So we take comfort in knowing he is not in excruciating pain. We are hoping to turn the corner on all of this soon and be on top of it all, but right now he is fighting several battles on many fronts. Thank you all again for the prayers and thoughts.

Tracye C. and June Johnson
