Hmmmm ... yet ANOTHER Back-to-back Tournament in Las Vegas ... on Bar Tables.
No $1,000.00 Table moving fee for 9-footers ... once again. Sounds like a Broken Record.
WTF happened to Real Men's / Women's Pool on Real Pool Tables ?

And, for Christ's Sake, is Las Vegas the Only F'n Venue for Pool in the USA now ?

Better "bar tables" than no tables! At least CSI is doing something for professional pool and giving the U.S. pros a chance to make some money. At a time of so few tournaments I wouldn't be knocking the ones that still exist.
Shane just made 21K and several other players made good scores in the thousands as well. Same thing with the U.S. Bar Table, a nice opportunity for pros to make some money. I don't think you'll hear them complaining, at least not the smart ones.

Us open 9 ball is in Virginia on 9 footers. Also, the super billiards expo promoted by Hopkins is in Pennsylvania on 9 footers. There was a series of west coast tournaments on 9 footers leading up to the Vegas events.

Pro pool is hurting but there's are still some events

Thank God for turning stone classic at the end of the month.
All order shall be restored for the four days of professional 9-ball excellence in venue, stream, field, and tournament direction.

Reno

No, It would have been last Feb but it never happened and 99% of the players from Ca. and Reno area that played for many years had no idea that it went away as there was really no notice that anyone was aware of. So on the current flyer were it says annual? It should say semi annual. Supposedly it was stopped because of low turn out. I think it will be even lower now.

What HE ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ said

I will miss it being held in Reno too.

First, we lost the Reno Open at the Sands. Now, the USBT Event goes away.
The NorCal / Reno area has lost Two Great Tournaments. Not everyone in our
Area wants to play, or Can afford to play every Tournament in Las Vegas.

With all do respect, I believe his comments where in regards to the amature level and the fact that this event is a mere few weeks after the nationals just took place and how many "bar table players" may want to return back to the same place and 115 Degree heat from which they just left. Unless its to go back and help some pros make another 21K?

d. The cue tip must be composed of leather, fibrous, or pliable material

Do phenolic tips fall under fibrous???

Bingo !!! ... :rotflmao1::rotflmao1::rotflmao1::rotflmao1:

And to add the APA players. I'd been to BCA Nationals the previous 7 years. Didn't go this year cause I was planning the USBTC but then qualified for APA 9ball & Masters so 10 days from Aug 10-20. No way I'm going back/staying after that.

USBTC in vegas

The USBTC moved from Reno because the hotel decided they wanted to substantially raise room rates plus eliminate most of the benefits of having it there.

It came as a shock to us and caused us a lot of issues finding another venue.

This change in the Grand Sierra Resort's plan had nothing to go with turnout. CSI enjoyed the venue and it used to be a great value for us and the players. So we had the option of stopping the event or moving it - we chose to move it.

The US OPEN 8 and 10 ball had already been announced, and that's how they became close to each other. We believe the event has more potential for growth in Las Vegas.
Obviously, our transportation costs will now be lower ( but many costs will increase). Main thing is another event with reasonable room rates.

This has always been a fun event, and although this year might be challenging, we look towards continuing it for another 20 years !!!

Come check it out-no handicap.no skill divisions.just pool!
Btw, the comments about 9' tables still doesn't address getting the tables to and from Las Vegas. I hate the slow demise of 9' events - but it is just a very weak economic model with very high expenses and high risk.

PS: I really wish posters would try to post facts; not post what they 'heard' or assume. Misinformation can be very misleading .....

Hmmmm ....... So, Grand Sierra was the ONLY venue in Reno ???

I seem to remember tournaments at The Sands, Peppermill, Silver Legacy, etc.

Are there NO suitable venues in Reno other than Grand Sierra ?
