If you're asking if it is really ebony...
Looks like ebony - but, given its age, it could be Brazilian Rosewood, which
was also used in Hoppes.

It better be ebony. I gambled on it for $450. I am a bit worried its aged rosewood but it sure looks like ebony. A steal at that price. I got my last ebony titlist for $500, this one for $450! I feel like I stole them!
She never posted the photos which I requested three days before the end of auction??
She would not co-operate and send close ups of the points and veneers after I won the first time around. The photos of the multiple shots are unclear when enlarged.
I asked for the bumper to be removed and a photo sent not the handle removed, as she claimed! Who would ask that???
When I asked the photos be sent separately she cancelled my order immediately! When she relisted, she blamed blamed me!
In my opinion it's been chopped and refinished. The signature looks at a bad attempt to restore Willie's signature.
She is not honest to deal with, so it didn't matter to me. I wish you the best on this.

Honestly I dont get the deal with this cue.
It looks hacked to me, but if that buyer is happy then thats great.
I have preached for years that if someone wanted a conversion cue, they would be better off getting a new spliced from current makers than these condition cues.

There is no doubt this cue has seen some changes...The ever elusive ebony Hoppe is tough to find but Brazilian rosewood is nothing to sneeze at. As a collector I would not be too bummed to "not make the deal" on this cue.
Almost certain it's oxidized rosewood. The purplish butt tone is the give away. I have many oldies that photograph nearly black like ebony but are rosewood.
Looks like somebody took an old woodburner to it.
Why were you bidding on an item you didn't even know if you wanted yet?
Why should she be answering more questions and sending more pictures at that point after the auction ends? You already won the auction. You will see the cue and have all your questions about it answered after you get it in your hands and see it. The time for asking questions and getting answers was done when the auction ended because at that point you have already obligated yourself to buy it by bidding and winning. If you weren't sure yet if you really wanted the item then you shouldn't have been bidding. That is your problem, not hers.
No YOU are the one who is not at all honest to deal with. You were still asking questions about the item after you won the auction because you were still trying to decide whether or not to honor your obligation to pay for the item and complete the transaction. She was right for cancelling on you and nobody blames her one bit because your type invariably ends up being nothing but a hassle to deal with. Smart woman.

Definitely ebony. Its as black as they come. Cue has had a new wrap, finish, and sig restoration. I'll have it refinished and the signature removed.
Pics are with another ebony hoppe for comparison. Finish is making it look very black. I can see it better with a loop and its ebony. Rosewood would have also been acceptable but ebony is what I was hoping for.
And for $450!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
