I didn't say protection from fraud. I said protection from defamation.
If you call something snake-oil then prove it.
Everyone should be protected in a moderated environment from trolling and defamation.
On my FB forum I have a no-knocking rule that has ONE exception. That exception is fraud. If someone is trying to sell a fraudulent product or being fraudulent in any way I expect the community to speak up and PROVIDE THE PROOF. This has worked remarkably well.

All the claims of superiority of cte over ghost
ball are the reason for criticism and claims of snake 
oil .But, instead of being neutral and allow the public to access the merits! We get the peanut gallery on here claiming to be experts.

I don't get Butt Hurt all that easily. I enjoyed helping people out with repair problems as much as I could in the Main.
Barton and a few other people that were responsible for continually disrupting what usually started out to be Decent Threads was what got me to hang out in NPR more regularly.
Not that I was great at it, but I received many Thank You messages, so must have done a few things proper.
There was one female member who took great pleasure in baiting people on a regular basis and causing them grief. It was her MO, and after some time, I came to realize this wasn't by accident, and done on purpose. And then, she would come back on and Cry because she had so many Detractors, that her being a member any longer was not a pleasant experience.
So yes, a few members did destroy it for many. There was only one Man that acted as a Moderator. People whined and pled for a Heavier Handed type of Moderation. When they received it, more people whined because the Mod was being just that, Heavy Handed.
So, Wilson got it from both sides. A pretty thankless job for the most part. There are few Boards that have as much Leeway as this one does.
I have noticed as of late, the Main is considerably quieter without Barton, CJ and a couple of others. They are over at FakeBook were they can dictate what happens on their own page.

So where does this statement fall then? "CTE does not work and CTE users are delusional who blindly follow a snake-oil salesmen" (paraphrase).
If one makes a claim of superiority and they post up their proof then it's up to those who don't think those claims hold up to prove why not. For example Stan has made many videos where he put up a curtain and proceeded to make shots, make banks, make multi-rail banks. Anyone could have made their own videos and duplicated what Stan did and claimed to use GB or no system. But they didn't.
Why do YOU think you know more about it than a guy who has two pool tables in his house and has devoted thousands of hours to studying it? What gives YOU the right to call him a snake-oil salesman on an open forum with NO PROOF whatsoever?
Because you're a good player? Ok great so was Mike Sigel and he was dead wrong about "throw".
The point of all this is why don't people ALLOW others to discuss shit IN PEACE?
Is a statement that x-system is better than y-system SO OFFENSIVE to you that you have to label someone a charlatan and try to defame them in public?
The bottom line is that just about anyone promoting ANY WAY to play pool is trying to help people get better. Stan, for example, didn't charge anyone anything until he made a DVD AFTER being called a charlatan, a religious kook, and similar insults. He sold the DVD yes but without the constant badgering there wouldn't have been a DVD to sell.
But let's examine it, there is a DVD with claims. People get the DVD and review it. Most positive and a few negative. reviews that can be made without insult and discussed without insult.
But that's not how it has gone down. You know it with 100% certainty.
The way it's gone down has been that a lot of people have been super positive about several aiming systems they have adopted and there is a small group of people dedicated to denigrating them every chance they get.
That's why any discussions about them go badly. If you don't like aiming systems and you think they are bunk then don't use them. Just like the afflictions on a person's body that you can't see an aiming system is a personal thing. You don't demand that a person strip so you can see what cooties they have and by the same token you should leave people alone who want to discuss aiming systems.
Two people can try something and have different reactions. Vanilla does not stop being vanilla because you don't like the taste. In fact there are people out there who don't experience taste the way other's do. We don't denigrate them and call them crazy and stalk them throughout hundreds of threads starting arguments with them to discredit them.
But a small group of people have chosen to do just exactly that here on AZB. To the point that a separate forum was created to contain those folks. But those folks break the rules constantly in the course of their disparagement and nothing is done to them.
We have been called religious kooks, delusional, ignorant, and much more. And that's ok with you?
Had a presence here sometime back. Enjoyed the forum and even did a little business here. Still look for advice occasionally from the Mechanics forum and check the live stream fairly regular. Just don't post in the main anymore although I do troll at times. Things change.

He is not on here with the rest of you guys rolling around in the slop!
He makes no grandiose claims. Plus his system and dvd pre dates cte.
You can't leave well enough alone! 10k butchering to prove cte superior to lou with ghost
ball. You can't let it go! Consumers don't need to hear from anyone on here about their opinion. But, keep trying to influence and make friends boosting sales !
I can't imagine any other motivation for being so engaged in this topic.

I originally came to this forum to learn and share thoughts and experiences with others who LOVED the game of pool.
I also knew I had to keep an open mind as forums are as diverse as the human population itself.
Ideally, I wanted to have an intelligent ,thought provoking conversation with many from all over the country;perhaps even meeting a few who live in my region, or in travel.
What evolved has been (for the most part), quite the contrary :
1- Snake oil Salesman. People on here crediting themselves as helping ppl improve by a ball after just "one session" with them . (well, so much for H A M B !) hell, who needs practice!
2- Old-timers who think they OWN AZB. - Ok guys ,... I get it. You Love your forum and want to protect same, I understand. BUT, Am I really a threat to all that is AZB? I am NOT here every day, posting multiple times pleading and proving my point until my fingers are tired from typing. Oh, .... and why do you think you own AZB ?? (said oldtimers here.) It is not a free and open forum where people can share ideas and opinions??
3- The ridiculous attitudes in the WFS section.- I have made comments on a cue in WFS because I truly liked the cue. (I never said ANYTHING about buying it). Later I get PM's in my mail stating they now own the cue and its "available for $$$"

4- 90 % BS - 10% real information. - And lately even the 10% has become arguementive and opinionated.

Gotta admit: I do come here for the many with a good sense of humor, and the entertainment value. :grin:
A lot of cue knowledge was lost with all the tinkering to the "For Sale" section.

I agree completely. it is one of the reasons I personally stopped coming back to the forum. At one stage we had people offering watches and services for pool cues. It all got a little out of hand IMHO. Prior to this the majority of my knowledge and enthusiasm about cue collection came directly from reading peoples threads in the For Sale section.

Yeah, I miss those informative, "wow, what a good deal, you're giving it away", and "best hitting cue ever", "what a pretty cue" and of course, "you could not buy that cue new for that price".
Yep, very informative indeed. Now, I don't know which cues hit a ton, and which ones only hit a 1/2 ton
