True. But at least the two of them responded very respectfully to each other. Perhaps there are some PM's with phone numbers so they can work it out in private.

Sure, no fun for the forum readers, but the right thing to do with people who have history as respecting each other.

If JA's comments were on the livestream, this may pick up again once those recordings get out on the net. That will then provide some evidence on who is being untruthful. And then another thread will start (or this one will pick back up again).

But at the end of the day, if they are working it out privately, you probably won't here much more from either of them showing animosity towards the other.
 
Just for the hell of it I read only the first page of this thread, and the last page, and realized that I was damn glad I didn't read all the ones in between. :smile:

I play Bonus Ball which is far too complicated for a lowly pool player to understand. What I can tell you outside of my NDA is that it's very EXCITING. There's a SCOREBOARD and I LOVE IT. IT CHANGES EVERYTHING@!!!!#R#W$RG IT FREAKIN LIGHTS UP!!!

Did I not answer your question? I was making an if/then statement & you asked me how I came to that conclusion. There was not even any 'real' conclusion in my statement. It was more of a hypothetical.

Maybe that is why there still seems to be some confusion.

You accused me of obsessing on 'slap fights'. I was not doing that at all. Just because something is said one time in each of multiple conversations with different people does not make one obsessing on it.

I had thought that the statement in my signature was clearly referring to billiards but I now see that it can be taken in a manner that I did not actually intend. I guess I will have to correct that.

To be clear, are you Mr. Ray Martin or have I made a mistake?

I can understand if you do wish to reply but I would at least like to know if you are Mr. Martin or if this is a case of mistaken identity.

I was in the bar business before I became a professional pool player, so my career was always in the hospitality business first....pool was not my first means of support. I bought into my first billiard/bar business in 1989, I didn't turn pro until 1991 when CJ's Billiard Palace came to fruition. The two worked synergistically for a number of years.

My exit from professional pool was for political reasons, I could see that professional pool was going down the tubes in 1999 and there was nothing I could do to stop it. If this forum would have been in existence at that time things may have been different. In those days the game was controlled by a few people that could ruin anyone's career, now it's more difficult to have a "media blackout".......the internet created a more level playing field.

My first priority is always going to be my career in the bar/billiard business although I can see merging them in my current billiard club project. It's time for pool to have another chance in the main steam public's eye, and this time maybe it will "stick". ;) 'The Game is the Teacher'

As I recall, I'm 1-0 vs. Johnny Archer.....cough1gameof8Bcough. Now, I'm 0-1 vs. the Scorpion in Scotch Doubles 9B, but that's only because Varner forced me to sell out, by leaving me the position of having a frozen CB and frozen OB at opposite ends of the table.

As for moving balls around, perhaps you saw me playing 1P......or "herding cats" as I like to call it around here. :grinning-moose:

It's CJ Butcher Boy's Burgers, btw.......and dinner is there on me......again. :wink:


*****Lest I get off the "subject" of this thread, I found Johnny Archer to be a somewhat different person off of the table than when he's on it.

On the table, he's generally quiet, focused, driven and determined. After a clinic, he pulled a 12-year oldish young man a few feet away from the table, sat him down, and offered him several minutes of encouragement towards the game of pool and life in general. All great qualities.

Off of the table, I found him to be a jokester, prankster, out-going, chatty kinda guy that loves to make people laugh.....generally enjoying life (and guzzler of Mountain Dew). Again, all great qualities.

None of us are perfect and should never claim to be. Whatever happened in this situation, I hope is resolved behind closed doors.

The only thing I would ever want to see made public, is if Johnny, Keith, and Mike all posted within a day or so of each other to proclaim that everything is resolved and the matter is closed........and that's only to shut everyone of US up about the whole situation(s).

BTW, Cantrill, you got the 8. Oh yeah.........1776. 'Nuff said.

Johnny, we're 1-1 against each other. How about a game of Banks, as a tiebreaker the next time you pass thru Arkansas? :cool:
