Huge Action Alex Pagulayan vs Justin Hall LIVE July 31 who do you guys like ?

Did Justin Hall recently get a new cellular telephone? He sure was looking at it a lot.

I noticed that also.

I remember thinking, he needs to keep his head in the game and stay off the phone.

Btw, how is everything at bumper? Tedder, Rowell and others still play there ever now and again?

I've not played tedder in a while now.

Got zero problem with that anything that breaks the thought of the table and what is going on that you cant control is a good ,,

Yeah, but that's not how dead stroke works. You have to focus intensely on what you are doing. On a physiological level, our brains evolved in such a way that when we focus on something intensely, the brain understands it to mean "Hey dipshit..... this is life and death. Eat or be eaten. I am gonna edit out all the sensory input but what I need to concentrate on, and I am gonna super increase the level of detail of what is important.. Knock it out of the park."

This is why "dead stroke" is always described in the same words, no matter what sport.. Hyper focus on only the important parts of the game/field/whatever, no recollection of anything else that happened unrelated to the specific winning sequence, tunnel vision.

So, in almost all cases, splitting your attention to something completely immaterial to the game breaks your focus, and pulls you out of dead stroke. Holding a cell phone in your hand while gambling or in a tournament match is the absolute worst thing you can possibly do, if you expect to win.

If I was backing him and he was losing, I wouldn't be too cool with him seeming to be preoccupied with his phone. This seems to be normal behavior for anyone born in the last 30+/- years.

Hadn't seen Tedder. I see David R fairly often and see Frankie Gattina some. Seen Tyson a few weeks ago but not Johnny N.
Hope all is well with you!.

They should come to central Florida.

Two pool rooms with Diamond tables. Cue Phoria and Racks.

Both very nice rooms and neither allows smoking inside.

J Hall got killed playing on his home table, he'd have to be stupid to think about going anywhere and playing the same game against Alex.

Two words - Jim Rempe. Thirty years of top level pool and I never saw him take his eyes off the table when he was in the chair. He sat on the edge of his chair, seemingly ready to pounce at any moment. Same goes for poker. I see a lot of these young hotshots totally absorbed in their phone when they are not in a hand. I like it! Often, you can learn a lot more when you're not in a hand just by being observant.

That! Also there is one factor noone mentioned - eye fatigue. Watching mobile phone fatigues your eyes more than you may think,in fact it is the fastest way to get your eyes to the point where you cant make those long angle shots anymore because your eyes are fatigued. Trust me,i have learnt this the hard way :P

Believe it or not, eye fatigue is something that can be worked on. I used to practice focusing hard on a very small point on the wall for as long as I could, till my eyes couldn't hold the focus, then I would relax them for a short time and do it again. After working up to it, I then began to be able to intensely focus on the table for an entire long match without feeling eye drift. And the added benefit.. While you are able to focus hard, you tend to drop into dead stroke.

The eye muscles are an important part of being able to play top level pool for longer periods of time, and should be exercised... For me, specifically, I just found out that my eyes are pretty much equal strength, and that my "dominant" eye can flip between both eyes depending on the distance/angle, and do not consistently do so. This is BAD for maintaining the correct aim line. I think I overcame this as a young man by practicing focus exercises that forced me to maintain the focus out of the same eye throughout a playing session, which kept my line of aim consistent.

20k isn't shit to a pool player when the 50k is like 5k to Roy. He should of at least let him play another set for what he lost. You can try to justify them telling him he had to double it all you want but I've been around gambling in pool rooms to long to agree with that. It's a shit move that only shady people try pulling in the pool room. I'm not calling Alex shady but his stake horse pulled a shady move.

I lost a little respect for them when they did that. I wish there was a way to punish them.

I've been done that way. It was for around 3k but principle is same.

Bottom line to me:

There are two things that test character, one is coming against it and the second and most common test is MONEY.

They showed us their character. If I was at Alex level of play I wouldn't play no matter what knowing they are subject to win first set and run out the door.

Yes,eye fatigue/endurance is something you can work on but thats absolutelly irrelevant in this case. By watching your mobile phone from 10inches you dont help your eyes to play pool AT ALL,you just fatigue them pure and simple, anyone using mobile phone for prolonged periods of time during their money match is lowering his/her chances of winning considerably..

Haven't seen Tedder but I see David often. Saw Tyson a few times but not Johnny. I only go on Sundays now & some Saturdays. Go to a friends during the week to play on his 9 footer, wanting to learn 1-hole, golf, & straight pool on a big table!

I have one question. What is the betting line if they play again? Someone throw something out there that reassembles the complete torturing Jhall just got on his home table and I'll be someone's Huckleberry. Let's not forget that to most of keyboard champions on here Jhall is completely outclassed and one guy said 10/6 was the better spot for Justin. Shoot some offers and let y'all lock in early.

The spot was right.

Justin played under speed.

If they played this match an infinite number of times I would give a slight edge to Alex. Maybe 55/45

After hearing more about why they didn't play another set it looks like the decision was 100% Alex's because he said the smoke was bothering his eyes too much to continue.

It seems highly unlikely to me that they will play again in that room and on that table. :(
