That's just stupid talk. 😒 It's not even close.

I have never had either.

Nor Chick-fil-A.

I guess I am deprived.

We don’t have In-N-Out or Chick-fil-A here, but there is a Five Guys a few minutes from me that I have never been to.

We are supposedly going to get a Chick-fil-A sometime, but the COVID thing screwed up their plans for an opening last year.

The Five Guys I had sucked. Have not gone to the Suburbs to check In-N-Out. Difficult to beat a Whataburger.

Chick-Fil-A is good and most efficient drive-thru.

I think in and out is a west coast thing. Same with what a burger. I knew a guy from OK that was always raving about the place. If I remember correctly I had some sliders from there that were not good a’tall.

Five guys is pretty good but their fries are horrendous, they’re so bad the employees try to get rid of them by loading your bag up nearly to the top with 8lbs of soggy potato even if you just order a small fry.

I use the Dime side on a tip tool whenever I put a new tip on and then I pretty much just use my chalking to keep it in the proper shape for me. Not sure where on the scale that lands though

Just to add my two cents, I've been playing pool for over 60 years and this was a topic of conversation when I first started playing pool.
My vote by the way is nickel, I like a somewhat flatter tip.

Here for reference are some pics scaled to show a couple of comparisons:
- Sizes of US coins compared with each other and with tip widths (10 mm and 13 mm tips)
- Dime (blue) curvatures compared with nickel (white) curvatures on the cue tips

The pics are likely not actual size on your screen, but they’re accurate compared with each other.

IMO they all become dimes if you play with them enough. I used to be really anal about the shape of my tip, now I really don't care as long as it still holds chalk well it will do whatever I ask of it. I'm no world beater so take this how you will.

Years ago somebody pointed out that the closer the radius of a tip is to the radial arc of the surface of a cue ball, the better the contact/grip it is. For most sizes of tips that's a nickel. I don't know, but I've always had better results from a nickel radius. I also learned to quit grinding my tip to try and keep a specific radius, the chalking action and the thousands of impacts your tip takes will keep your tip in an optimal radius that fits how you're hitting the ball. Once a tip gets "seasoned" during play, it keeps that same radius for me throughout its life.

I’m fairly certain that once any compaction has occurred on a new tip, chalking habits are the only factor that determines a tips shape. The reason it keeps the same radius for *you* is because it is you who chalks it every time (I’m assuming).

I'm in shock by this statement. Nobody here claiming that a shape is a big impediment, but even FOR YOU I'm sure you have one tip shape that you prefer and makes you perform better. I'm 100% certain that when you install a new tip you ask the guy to make it a certain shape, if that's the case then I don't understand your statement lol.

Each person wants to experiment with shapes to find his own, its not so much of an impediment as in finding what you like/prefer. again I'm baffled by what you just said honestly. The ONLY way that your statement would make sense is if you come back and tell me that you don't care what tip shape the guy who installs your tip does, in other words you'd answer the guy "Hey man just shape it anyway you want". Then I'd understand your statement.
+1 on not caring much. I do just tell the tip guy to put it on then I shape it myself. But closer to a dime. Smaller the tip bigger the arch.

don't aim for either really... What ever looks good after a little scratch with the sandman. Have a couple of hits and see how it feels.
