Celine just sent a Valentine Day sale on Rhino products but no chocolate, flowers or free tips. Guess I might have to buy a shaft sometime...Well it's Valentines day so give it a chance!
I think the only answer is, your milage may vary. Maybe you could report back after you've had it for a while.I am hearing this complaint of shaft residue wiping off when receiving a rhino shaft. Is this something that just happens initially or is it continuous? If it's just happening initially, I don't see any big deal about it.
Yes I will. I hope it goes well.I think the only answer is, your milage may vary. Maybe you could report back after you've had it for a while.
After initial cleaning not much black is on the cloth. I use 91%alc. to wipe it down.I am hearing this complaint of shaft residue wiping off when receiving a rhino shaft. For me, it's just been the initial clean-up when receiving the cue. I wipe mine down lightly every time I play, and it's never had any residue since the first wipe down.I am hearing this complaint of shaft residue wiping off when receiving a rhino shaft. I just got mine delivered today, and my experience is similar to yours. I wiped it down initially and got some black residue. Concerned about? We will see. I feel confident in what it has offered to me so far. The fit from shaft to butt was almost perfect, just a little bit of edge to it if I rub my fingers over the joint gently, although you would have to be looking for it. As far as playing feel, it does feel as good as my cuetec cynergy carbon fiber shaft. It is solid with out any surprises, and I like the tip that came with it. It is supposedly a soft medium tip, in which I have had no problems with as far as miscue's and being able to apply spin to the ball. As far as the residue coming off the shaft, I have continued to get a little bit each time I play but it is subsiding. Not sure why, but the shaft feels great in the bridge hand. I think this residue will subside in the near future, but time will tell. I played today with the new shaft and hardly got anything on my hands this time. It does look like it will subside, but it sort of strange just the same. I do really like the shaft and would recommend it just the same. For me, it's just been the initial clean-up when receiving the cue. Maybe I’m ignorant but how could it cost $150-$200 to ship the shaft back? So Rhino lost $$ shipping the shaft to the customer? I’m not saying the joint wasn’t off center but something seems fishy.I’m not in the market for this type of shaft but if I was, the quality/customer service concerns mentioned in this Reddit thread would be enough to turn me off of Rhino.
Basically, OP ordered a shaft from them, it came with an off-center joint causing a noticeable roll on the shaft. Rhino’s solution was either pay to ship it back to them for a new shaft with no further product support, or pay to ship it back to them and receive a refund less a 4.5% return fee. In my opinion, neither option is acceptable for what is 100% a manufacturer issue.
He said he lives in Saudi Arabia so I can see shipping costs being a lot more than what we’re accustomed to.Maybe I’m ignorant but how could it cost $150-$200 to ship the shaft back? There must be more to the story than that.I’m not in the market for this type of shaft but if I was, the quality/customer service concerns mentioned in this Reddit thread would be enough to turn me off of Rhino.

I’m not surprised I’m ignorant and too impatient to read the whole thing.Shopping from Saudi Arabia.
All the info was there.
Youre ignorant.I’m not surprised I’m ignorant and too impatient to read the whole thing.
I was also thinking of the free shipping deal I got but that deal is probably long over.
Email to Rhino
I emailed Rhino to ask them this question about the carbon fiber shafts, here is the message and their response below:
Message:
I have a rhino carbon fiber shaft I just received from you folks that has black carbon wiping off of it. Although it is getting to be less, it doesn't seem to stop completely because every time I play my hands get some black on them (lightly). When I wipe it down with alcohol the towel gets some black as well. Is this normal ?
Dear Tom,
Thank you for reaching out.
That is the characteristic of carbon materials.
Please rest assured that this will not affect the quality of the shaft.
Warm Regards,
Andrea
