On the streaming tables? Every time I've looked to see who's playing on Table 1 or Table 2 it's been people I've never heard of and Pia Filler.
Given the nature of 9 ball and the fact that running out is not usually the issue at this level, I would say it has to be tactical/mental errors that are giving opponents the advantage.

The "TV" table, which is a streaming (DAZN for US folk) table.
T1 and T2 (the free youtube channels) has had some fairly big names also:

Yes that recent big million $$ snooker golden break had fans only final day -lots of sheikhs turn up but still not full house. I think folks think with millions $$ prizemoney, lots of fans will suddenly turn up. Different story if fans who turn get some prizemoney
IMO Sky has as much natural talent as anyone not named Filler, Shaw, SVB, etc (there are others too, but you get the point). I’m not sure he dedicates the time or energy necessary to break through to the top echelon of the game which requires a level of consistency I don’t think he’s ever shown, but I think Sky is a top 20-25 player and a threat to beat anyone. He’ll never be a favorite to win, but I don’t think the pool community would be surprised if he won a big Matchroom event in the next few years.
Tyler is a great player, but relies on rock solid fundamentals and work ethic. Its not impossible, but I think it’d be shocking if he snapped off a big event.
He's one of those players that gets rolling and becomes impossible to beat. I've seen him in that mode. Scary good.
That doesn't surprise me at all. Do you know the reason for this? Find my post from two years ago where I discussed how smaller pockets favors the weaker players which I got grilled for, but I still make that claim. If I'm an underdog playing Fedor or SVB, my only way to win is to play them in a very very very tight pockets then my margin/chance will increase to beat them....actually there are two things which can Increase my chance of winning against players better than me, I'd ask for 1) Smaller race, the smaller it is the better chance that I win..then 2) Small and very tight pockets will increase my chance of winning.
Find my post from two yrs ago I think when matchroom first introduced these very small pockets which I then found out that they favor the weaker player and I've explained why....or study and try to find the conclusion yourself, but in the end of the day you'll see results like those above sooooo many times, in fact the tighter the pockets the more random the winner will be.

Pat Fleming once explained to me that producing a major pool event in a major city will cost twice as much money.
If by keeping production costs in check, Matchroom is placing itself in a position to keep adding events and gradually growing the prize funds, I am all for it. In truth, for the majority of pool tournaments, the money generated from live attendance is a small component of the revenue stream for a producer.
I remember the first Mosconi Cup in the US. I think there were barely 300 seats and it wasn't full. That has changed. I'm sure you remember the first UK Open and how few spectators there were in that huge arena in London. I'm not surprised Matchroom moved it to a less costly area. Hopefully the fan base will build each year for each event as happened for the Mosconi Cup.

I see a lot of wood shafts being used in this event. It would be interesting to know what the number of wood and carbon fiber shafts are on the playing cues.
