Dumping - caught

I know I'm going to sound ignorant here, but while there is clearly foul play here, there does not appear to be a crime in play.

My understanding is that debts that arise from gambling matches are not legally enforceable in the first place.
I think the wire fraud and conspiracy is illegal. It is a matter of the $... Looks like in one of the text meetings $8,500 was mentioned. Also, an investigator may find that there were other instances that they didn't get caught... How much $ would that add up to. Enough for prosecution...I think there is enough evidence for a federal prosecution. Also, no one has to press charges.

you expect in poker that people are trying to trick you into what hand they have. Same with a baseball pitcher. In this you’re not expecting two players to collude together so that the winner is predetermined. They aren’t even remotely the same.

my post was strictly about gambling and hiding or tricking your opponent on how good you are.

had nothing to do with dumping. two entirely different scenarios.

pay more attention please.

only true in some states. but everywhere if you commit fraud it is a crime. the crime wasn't gambling here. it just used gambling to commit a crime.

all states allow some forms of gambling or what is really gambling. and many allow them to be considered a contract. which it is .

Neither will ever get their reputation back from this.
No amount of money is worth your good name.

They were winning/losing according to the spread.
I agree, not enforceable.
Colluding to defraud the bettors is pretty rotten.
Having cold hard evidence of it in text messages will really upset anyone who has lost money on either of them.

You can't legislate behavior and punitive measures do not provide societal inspiration!

Shitty actors a gonna act a shitty.
Maybe about 10 years ago at the Big Carom Cafe event, 1 3C player from the US and 1 from Europe colluded so one of them would make the Finals by dumping!

I think they both got a 1 year Ban!

So your initial post didn’t make sense or have anything to do with the subject. Do better or just read other people that do make senses

Does it?

These are the last guys that I am going to defend about anything, but do the texts read like "worked before, let's do it again" or like they hatched a new plan? You decide, I guess.
You can deduce that from just a snippet of their text messages? Wow you'd make a great detective...on The Rookie.
