Best pool glove

Guerra Cues

I build one cue at a time

Hey,
I do play with a glove and I use exclusively a Tony Crosby glove...
It is tight on my hand and does not get loose after a couple of uses.
What other gloves are out there? What do you guys use and why?

Best one I've seen is the Stix glove...has the rubber nibs on the palm. Mine is 15 yrs old. I don't think they make them anymore. Haven't seen Tony Crosby's...I'll have to check it out.

I use a Sir Joseph but only because that's what was available at the time I decided to try. I'm curious about the Tony Crosby one... what do they run? Are there any available without the missing fingers?

How about a link to Tony's glove?

I bought a glove (actually two gloves because I really liked them) from Howard Ikeda (or at least the company he works for) that I really like but it has no label and no name. I guess it is the No-Name glove. They were at the DCC just outside of the main entrance to the tournament room. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the company.

I have always liked a well fitting Sir Joseph Glove and have also used a Sure shot glove.

I use the sir joseph but have to buy a new one about every 3 months. I always get a hole in the finger tip for some reason.

Wash your hands you dirty buggers. Keep em dry and get a propper cue.

Failing that come to England and play with your gloves, we aint see a decent yank comedien for ages.

ya know over 20 years a go when I first started playing gloves were just starting to show up in the pool room. I used one and it just made sense. No powder screwing up your table or the felt. The same smooth stroke no matter the humidity or temp. All the old players made fun of them...now almost all those guys use them. Why exactly are pool players so afraid of change?

I agree, plus they fit so conveniently in your man-purse.

They changed.

I guess they think it might be a gay move or something.
I see a bunch of people teasing but without a valid opinion. I started an honest thread and this is what we get.
I guess that John Schmidt and a bunch of other Pro Players that wear a glove must have something to say about it as well.
I hope the teasers do not take it wrong if somebody gets into their threads and start making smart a$$ comments about their comments as well.
People's opinions should be respected. Have nothing constructive to say about it? Stay out...
I understand the joking part... But the thread was not a joke, otherwise would be on the non-pool related forum.

The UN-GLOVE !

The new "Finger Slides" are the nutz ! They do the job,
don't have the bulk of a regular shooting glove, last many times longer than a shooting glove and are about the same price as a shooting glove! I usually don't use anything on my hand, but DO carry one of these in my bag IF the playing conditions are very humid! They work !

Nick Varner's Pro Series gloves, and Nancy Cote's FingerSlides

Folks:

I'm surprised noone's yet mentioned either of the following two products:

  1. Nick Varner Pro Tour series gloves

  2. Nancy Cote's "FingerSlides"
    img248624b3fa24c58dde.jpg

Although not primarily a glove user myself (I don't have the problem of excessively sweaty hands, and the little I do is nothing that a dab of corn starch can't take care of), I keep a set of FingerSlides in my cue case.

I can confidently say that in a pinch, when the venue is very humid and hot and I've trouble with the cue sticking in my bridge hand, the FingerSlides have been a godsend.

I can't speak to Nick Varner's product, but just based on the pictures and the description, they appear to be a well-made product. For sure, they seem to have more attention to detail than the ubiquitous and ho-hum Sir Joseph product.

Hope this is helpful,
-Sean

The place Joey A is talking about that had nice gloves is Omega Billiards, that had a lot to choose from. They have a web site and Mike is a good guy and post on here also.

Sometimes I use one, when I do it's the Varner with the open finger tips and non skid heel.

Tony,
This happens EVERY time a glove thread comes up. Get used to it. I don't think that a lot of these jokesters realize how BADLY ones hands can sweat :frown:. I wash my hands regularly. I use a "proper"(???) cue. I wipe my hands and stick down with a towel. But that is all NO GOOD. My hands would need to be washed/wiped after every other shot, and that is certainly unacceptable. My hands get very sweaty. Hell, I wear shorts and T-shirts year-round because I am so "hot-natured". So in high humidty where the air inside feels like it could be cut with a knife, I use a glove. And the best glove I have found for the price (and I've tried a lot of them) is the PoolDawg brand from www.PoolDawg.com. Stays tight, lasts a long time, and the cue slides like butter!!! No overly large seams either.

The funniest comment I hear from the non-glove wearers is that they "like the feel of the cloth at their fingertips". Well, what the hell is the GLOVE made out of ??? Geez, I feel CLOTH on my fingertips on every shot ;)!!!
