2024 World Pool Championship

Kaci never close to losing a match winning 62/85 racks thus far

regardless of results tomorrow,
he will exit this tourney with a game winning percentage likely between 65% - to 70%

guessing this would rank quite high historically for an event of this scope
I believe Busty had the highest in the IPT days. I think it was about 63% to 65% for the whole tournament. They used to keep that stat and publish it on their updates page.

yes I recall, with 60 being the upper crust guys, I think Boyes was in that group too for a minute as well as with Thorsthen and and Evgeny Stalev (where is that dude???)

Kaci has just smashed that

Gorst turns it on puts on his best performance in this event against his strongest opponent Raga after few recent close match wins (not more than 2 racks each) . Other 3 semifinalists Kaci, Chua, Wojciech seem to be peaking putting on huge leads early keeping their opponents seated. Of course, no guarantee their form remains tomorrow against their new opponents, different table environment
Any of these 4 can win it tomorrow -it is touch and go comes down to who breaks better, the mental game pressure and who get the rolls.
But I stick to my earlier pick, Kaci to snap this off. He has been the best performer and (like Filler) he said in his interview he loves and thrives under the pressure.

IMHO, most likely to least likely to win (which also happens to be alphabetical order):
Eklent
Fedor
Johan
Wojciech

Nice, Spartan. If it's not too much trouble. Do you know the Fargo Rates of their opponents? Who had the "toughest path"?

no just no, don't I play tennis myself but dont compare two different games as if they both relate.
Only in regard with serve, man :) Alternate break is just the same.

Actually this is the way recent PBS events are played, exactly resembling a tennis match (even though the races could be longer). Set a race to 4, alternate break, and a tie-breaker (again, the format of shoot-out could be way, way better). A player has to hold his serve while trying to steal a game on his opponent's. It is that simple.

Sorry don't know Fargorates of all opponents.
I only know they all beat 2x800 each
Kaci -Sanjin, Ignacio
Gorst- Chang Yu Lung, Raga
Johann- Max Lechner, Dang
Wojciech- SVB, Zielinski

For all Fargorate, please search on Fargorate website.

I'm watching the quarterfinal highlights package on YouTube and it is well done. Great camera work, sharp picture, and the venue looks impressive. Unfortunately there isn't much crowd noise but it seems like we don't get that anywhere except the Mosconi Cup or Hanoi.

Not a bad guess by me before the tournament started. All 3 made the final 16 and I’d say Kaci is the favorite from here.
Yup, those were solid predictions. I went chalk and said that Filler and Gorst were the logical choices to win the title. I would enjoy a Gorst vs Kaci final if we are lucky enough to get that matchup.

This is a great event and the payout is really great for pool.

Kaci has a massive scar on his left forearm.

I know he was injured badly and it's remarkable that he is playing lights out.

The book makers couldn't figure out Wojciech Szewczyk!!! :ROFLMAO:
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I was looking for him too, how could that be?

great stuff by all those that are seeing it.

I remember some time back when the big 9ball tournament was here it didn't feel right with a possible final winner with one loss and the runner-up with one loss.
A World vs. The Kingdom robe fits for an all wins champion. Would that be 10 and 0 for this format bracket set-up?

The WPA redid their website. I was trying to find the prior world champions (in all disciplines) and could no longer find the link. Does anyone see it somewhere on the new site?

Kaci was on the verge of being the best player in the world before his injury. He crushed Filler in the UK Open final and, much to my shock, talked trash before the match. I loved it. Quite a character.

Gorst has struggled mightily, but here he is. He turned it up against Raga. We all know how good he is.

Chua, I am not sure people know how good he is. His A game is top five or 10 in the world. He was, unquestionably, the BEST player in last year’s World Cup of Pool when the Philippines won. He was the clear leader partnered with an anxious James Arañas and showed lots of moxie. He just needs to play more WNT events to keep sharp.

At the top of his game, Biado is the only other Filipino I might, might take over him.

Only surprise to me is Wojciech SzewczykI. He’s played well, but he is lucky SVB played like a chump.

i am a huge fan of Gorst, Kaci and Chua - three of my four favorite players. I’d like to see any of them win.

I didn't like the RBS at all, they added a big chunk of luck into an already lucky game. With these race to 4 double sets, and alternate breaks not only that its boring, its also the luckiest thing ever with those shootouts too.

You are not seeing the part of boredom in the game, and are not considering it for the sake of audience. The game of nine-ball is an attacking explosive game, we watch it for the longest time to see 6-packs, 8-packs put together. Thats how to make the game exciting especially if played with speed like how Earl Strickland used to do them back in the days.

SVB was at 70% in his 2012 US Open win. For all 5 of his US Open wins combined, his game-winning percentage was 64%.

Curious, are you Gomez? Regardless, if the field was up to playing 90% offense, that's what the game would be. Initial buzz would be like, "Have you seen this 9 ball stuff? They don't aim but they don't miss the shots. Really! It's on ESPN!////
The players just want good take home. They ain't gonna work up an AAAA++ game even if they got the ability.

I’m rooting for Johann Chua. I’ve always liked his game, and there was a nice interview segment that aired prior to his match with Dang Jin Hu. When asked about the $250,000 top prize, he said that he came from poverty and that he’s used to not having money, so the prize money wouldn’t change him and he doesn’t think about money much. Nice humble attitude and a classy answer.

me too. that match was incredible, it was "lil ko at US open" territory. missed one open shot, in the first rack. from there on he played very brave to stay on the offence. i liked the interview too, he's improved on his english and seems to have a strong mental game.

kaci is also mentally very strong but today may be different for both him and chua. they're both from dirt poor countries and winning the semi is 100k. i would be very surprised if that had no effect, no matter what they say
